After waiting many months after are last bad experience we decided to give it a go again. Hammy's was great in it's early years but now it's just an expensive last resort. Burnt buns, no flavor, they mixed up our impossible burger and beef burger so that didn't go over well with out vegitarian family member. They should label what each order is. The shakes are still okay and they may make their own fresh patties but the rest is Sysco frozen. $80 for a family of 4 and everyone was disappointed. While visiting Bainbridge Island we were looking for lunch away from the hustle and bustle of Bainbridge near the ferry terminal. We had been to Lynnwood Center before and I remembered Hammy's. I ordered the basic burger which is 1/4 pound burger with lettuce, tomato and pickle. They also have a sauce that is mayo based. I added ketchup and mustard at table. It was a great choice! I think I would have them leave off the sauce next time just because it made the bun pretty wet and things tended to fall apart. For a basic burger it is just $9 and I think a real bargain. You can add items and choose from other burger options as well. The tots were just basic but good and crisp but soft inside. Tasted good with salt and ketchup. Again there are fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings if you wish. The milkshakes looked good but I opted for a fountain soda. Service was pretty quick but they don't cook until you order. Seating a little limited but have inside and outside seats. You have to place order on kiosk which takes some time but it does space out customers. On the magical kingdom of Bainbridge, you will find Hammy's - the grumpy, rude troll. Our family of four came on a Sunday afternoon to an empty restaurant. No other customer and yet customer service was abysmal. We ordered four items - two burgers, an order of wings, and a salad. Just as we were getting rung up, I realize that we didn't have any drinks. I asked to add onion rings and a drink to make one of our burgers a combo. I was rudely told, "it's too late, the order is closed. We can't add anything." as we were still ringing the order up and it had not yet been completed, I found that odd considering that this is a place of business and from personal experiences, businesses typically like to make money by selling the goods that they offer. We were dumbfounded and just stared. Then, another employee conferred with our cashier and lo and behold - it was possible. When our order arrived, I noticed that it was missing a lot if the items from the menu. The $14 green salad only had tomatoes, onions, greens, and croutons and it is listed as having cucumbers, peppers, olives, etc that were not there. When my husband asked if we could get the olives, peppers, cucumbers that are listed in the menu, the not-so-friendly cashier insisted that the salad never was supposed to have those items. When my husband pointed out that the giant menu had those items on the salad listed, the cashier said, "Oh. Well, that sign is old. We wrote that two years ago." Initial gaslighting aside, perhaps someone needs to tell the cashier that regardless of how long ago the menu was written, the menu is still the menu. My husband just walked away saying nothing. For a place that charges extra for everything, it's surely strange that they think they don't have also have to uphold their end of the restaurant agreement by providing people what they ordered. This place has made-to-order, high quality burgers and great fries and a lovely patio outside at which to enjoy them. I especially liked the teriyaki burger that had an onion ring and crispy, pickled ginger on it. I hope they bring that one back. read more

Came here on a weekday for lunch. You order from the counter and they bring the food out to you. There were 7 of us who ordered, we got meals and shakes and sodas. First of all, the soda fountain was all mislabeled and only a couple of the sodas were actually what they said they were. When they brought the food out, they forgot 3 different sides as well as extra sauces (which were $2 each). After you order at the counter, you'll be given a number tag to place on the table of your choosing. There are tables outside with umbrellas to protect from the sun. Despite the appearance, Hammy's is not a fast food restaurant. Each order is prepared fresh upon ordering. They don't have the most efficient cooking process so it does typically take 15 to 20 minutes to get your food. The prices are a bit high (summer of 2023 $9 to $15) but we keep coming back because the burgers are tasty. Hammy's is located in the Lynwood neighborhood on Bainbridge Island. Tough choices after a hike.. hamburger or fried chicken sandwich? Both looked delicious as I passed people in the outside seating area of Hammy's. The pleasant beach area, another fun area to explore on the island. Service was quick and friendly. Although there wasn't any draft beers, they had a good selection of local beers, as well as other beverages. Even though I thought the price was a little high, after tasting, and the big breast size of the sandwich, it was worth it. Hot, crispy, moist and tender, with bacon added, it definitely ranks among the best chicken sandwiches I've had. Perfect for an after hike meal, add in the perfectly crispy onion rings, I was very happy and relaxed, the local Brainbridge Island brewery IPA helped as well. Went here on the 4th of July. Ordered the Hammys double, fries and a patty on the side for the dogs. Checked the order and found they put the dogs patty on the burger, so now I have a triple hammy burger. let them know what happened and they made another patty for the pooches. Burger was cooked perfect, nice and juicy (especially with that free patty on it) , fries were enough for 2 people. If I lived closer it would be trouble, would be here at least once a week. Hammy's has really gone down hill. The owner has eliminated many of the burgers we love, including the Hawaiian. Fries are not nearly as good as they used to be. And the prices are quite high. Adding anything to a burger is a $2 up charge. One can easily cross the $20 mark for a mediocre burger. It's hard to find a good burger $10 and under anymore that's not fast food. The pandemic and inflation have sent burger prices soaring into the $15-20 range at restaurants. We got the smash burgers which have a 1/3 pound patty and they were good. Nothing that you couldn't make at home but a really good basic burger. Fries are good too. We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant today after a long walk at Fort Ward. My friend has a whole hist of allergies and we kept popping into businesses trying to find something that she could eat. She finally chose Hammys-we ordered and had about a twenty minute wait. We were given cups for fountain drinks and were able to fill them up and sit outside at a table and wait. Our food was brought out to us in to go boxes-napkins and sauces (ranch and campfire sauce were extra) I wanted to try their homemade vegan burger but they weren't making them that day so I opted for the veggie burger (Boca I was told) and tater tots. Burgers are pretty much on par with any other solid fast food chain. Really not much to say about them, really just like a Red Robin kind of basic burger. My order was ready 10 minutes before the expected time, which worked out for me but could be bothersome for someone on a specific schedule - not that the food didn't stay hot at least 10 minutes. Fries were totally unseasoned and pretty disappointing (coming in with 0 expectations to begin with.) I absolutely hate wasting food but they didn't feel worth finishing. A friend I was eating with who lives around the neighborhood said they *usually* come with noticeable seasoning but are still usually pretty mediocre. Their onion rings are probably their best side but are still just on par with big brands, nothing special. Their "signature sauce" is especially disappointing, costing almost a full $2 extra to add on with a side, and really just tasting like cheap ketchup mixed 50/50 with cheap tartar sauce. To their credit, they at least give you a decent size container if you're willing to shell out for it. Have heard a theory from a friend (same friend) that Hammy's only exists so that the owner can get burgers for themselves whenever they want. I also heard something about them getting worse after management switched around, but having gone both recently and several years back I never noticed much of a difference. But that's neither here nor there. He added that "you shouldn't get the 'fancy' burgers because that makes it easier for them to get away with not cooking the patties all that well." Honestly though, I probably preferred the "Big Fancy" burger to the "Double" burger I tried today. If I were to go again I'd probably get the Big Fancy. Ultimately, if you're closer to Hammy's than you are to McDonalds and you want a burger, you may as well order here. It ain't great, but it'll get the job done. Visited Hammy's on a Sunday night around 7pm. It was quiet which is to be expected on a school/work night in this sleepy southern end of the island. The staff were attentive waiting for the next customer to come in. The ambiance was light and enjoyable, reminiscent of a classic diner with a counter top that you could dine at. The counter was bordered with stacks of paper lined baskets which made it feel crowded as if people don't normally sit there. We took a seat by the window and waited for our food. The burgers smelled great and looked good. The onion rings were fresh, crispy and decently sized. But, as we started eating, I realized why this restaurant has less than 3.5 stars. The burgers were good! You could tell they use fresh ingredients and cook them very well. However, they are simply overpriced for what they are. The Jalapeño Burger (pictured) topped with a whole jalapeño, bacon and a cream cheese/cheese mixture was tasty and creative, but for $14 for the burger alone, I was hoping for a patty a little thicker than a standard McDonald's patty. We also purchased a Hammys Burger ($9 not including cheese), a kids cheese burger meal ($11 burger w/ just cheese, fries and a small drink) and a basket of onion rings ($9). Overall a total of about $52 including an 18% tip. This is just too much for a couple burgers and a side, no drinks, no add-ons. Maybe these are just Bainbridge prices, I'm not sure. I'll probably be back because the food was tasty, but not for a while, probably when I'm looking to splurge. Until then I'll try to find a better deal in the area. read more

This out-of-the-way hamburger joint is an absolute treasure find!! We enjoy what they call the John Wayne burger, which has bacon, cheese, lots of meat, fried onion, straws, very good sauce. This burger is loaded and if you venture off looking at the menu, you will discover they have the very best onion rings in the state or that we have found. Their french fries if you don't remember to tell them to leave off their seasoning is not my favorite. If you ask them to leave off the seasoning, you will receive the very best french fries around. We highly recommend this restaurant and it's one we visit About every two months. They have a reward program that gets you a free meal with points. The burgers are large enough to share so we do. However, my nephew could easily handle the meal by himself. The owners are very nice hard working people that run this restaurant and make you feel at home. There is seating inside, which is limited, but also on the sidewalk of this cute little area of Bainbridge Island. Hammy's, for my few visits so far, has good burgers and good fries. Just good though. One caveat--and I'll give them four stars and give them more opportunities to shine--but in my limited experience, they're operational management around lunch time is not excellent. There was a time I would've given them 5 stars all day every day. Sadly that's no longer the case. One thing that I think is absurd and no other restaurant does this, however it has always been this way, is that they charge 2 DOLLARS for a little side sauce. That's ridiculous. They used to have thicker better fries with seasoning and they were so good and different from just regular old fries. Its burgers have been recognized as quite good in the local popularity contest, "The Best of Bainbridge." The food is well prepared, but not nearly as good as one would expect given this attention and its price. But I was shocked to see a 7% "take out" fee added to my last order. Located in the Lynwood neighborhood, its a family friendly restaurant that is casual and won't hurt your wallet. The restaurant's hope for their customers is that a meal here shouldn't cost more than $10 a person. To give you an idea of the place, I find Hammy's most comparable to Red Mill in Seattle. I came here with my bf on Wednesday since we had a buy 1 burger get 1 free coupon. The place was packed with people, which gave us time to figure out what to order. Aside from burgers, they also serve sandwiches, salads, chicken strips, garden burgers, sides, beers on tap, and shakes. Their shakes menu has a variety of flavors that you can also mix and match. In addition to that, they feature special flavors of the day. My bf had a mic of a peanut butter Oreo shake that tasted like a peanut butter cup with crunch, thanks to the blended cookies. I tried one of their special shakes that day which was tiramisu. I like that this was had a lighter flavor. My favorite burger here has to be the Hammy's Big Burger, which has 2 1/4 lb beef patties and all of your typical burger fixings, minus bacon and cheese that come at an extra cost. Of course we had to add those in. With the extra add ons, this is their most expensive burger at $8.50. We had ours cooked medium rare and this was so juicy and satisfying. If you're looking for a smaller option, go with the bacon cheeseburger. We also tried the Rockin Blue burger that had pepper bacon, caramelized onions and blue cheese. I found this burger disappointing. You would think this burger would have lots of flavor but it surprisingly was bland. Service here is excellent. They take orders in a timely manner. Although their kitchen got backed up, they did offer complimentary fries, which were fine. Hammy's is a good place to go if you don't want an expensive family dinner on the Island. read more

Easy ordering and pickup, friendly and efficient staff, consistent quality. My only complaint is I wish they would update their veggie burger patty to an Impossible burger.
