Friendly, sharp, remembers your drink, and somehow manages to make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. The kind of bartender who could calm a ferry delay meltdown with a single pour. Now let's talk happy hour, because as someone living on a fixed income (aka I've made peace with budgeting but still enjoy joy), this place understands the assignment. The deals are legit. Not "$1 off something you didn't want anyway," but actual, honest-to-goodness this-feels-illegal pricing. One of the best eggplant parms I've ever had. Rich tomato sauce and pasta perfectly al dente. Even the side toast was delicious. The small salads included lots of goodies and were plenty big enough for lunch. read more

The big pretzel was a highlight, had that great ground mustard and a cheese sauce with a good zest to it. Food - chicken sandwich was pretty good. really crunchy but still juicy. came with a ton of fries. my husband got the happy hour burger and it was pretty decently priced but was somehow still big. i was thinking that because it was on the HH menu it would be a sad looking burger but glad it wasn't. Upon entering this restaurant, there seemed to be a little confusion with hostess staff. Our waitress however was very sweet, observant, and cordial. We ordered the Classic Reuben with Pub fries. The bottom slice of bread got soggy pretty quickly. The corned beef was a little tough to bite through (a knife & fork would've done the job, but who wants to eat a sandwich with utensils?!?!). We came to Bainbridge for the troll and stopped here to eat (it's walking distance). The food and drinks were DELICIOUS. It wasn't too loud (like some sports bars). I had the superbowl salad, clam chowder and sometimes kind of Kracken cocktail. The people I was with had beers and the fish & chips (huge portion!) and spicy chicken sliders. They both said they were awesome. We will DEFINITELY be back. read more

On what world are FIVE WINGS WORTH $13 at a pub!?! Rated best Wings in BI recently BUT...i'm a fan of good, fried crispy wings. The WERE great even as to go. The problem was the price. I have NO problem paying for good food. That is $2.60/wing...? Yes it was the 1/2lbs. (Please dont be a hater and say everything is more expensive on the island...we know that but to THIS degree?)I also didnt realize they auto added a 10% take out fee until AFTER I rec'd the receipt in my email. And yes...i did give an 18% tip because i want places to survive. Total price for FIVE wings and an order of fries: $30.04. Add on the $10 beer i ordered because they said it would be awhile (wings came out WELL ahead of the beer) and it was a $42 night. Atrocious service by the server, and even worse service by the barman/owner, Mike. (Where did he get such a nasty attitude?) Don't go to the Plate & Pint expecting to have a nice time, because you won't. I've been coming here on and off for a few years. I've got to give this place major props. They have STEPPED UP their game! Make sure to always check out the nightly specials. Medium well steak shouldn't be lightly seared and cold in the middle, want silverware wait then flag down homeless looking wanderer girl, silverware delivered no steak knife wait another 5-10 minutes for someone to walk by and get you a knife (raw and still too tough to cut with a butter knife, I tried) show waitress raw steak minus 1 bite and she says should have said something sooner, tough to do when she disappeared after taking order. First impression was the friendly customer service. They are very attentive. Two adult meals and 2 kids meals with all of the food being delicious and filling. Clean and comfortable atmosphere. Looking forward to our next meal here when we come back to Bainbridge Island. read more

The number of long-term customers who have left forever grows continuously. The servers are rude and turn everyone from ever returning. The bartenders talk badly about people who have been long-term supporters. Something is seriously wrong here; visit more than once at your own risk. I seldom give a bad review. Pros: Good service Good soup Cons: Oldest fryer oil possible. Frozen everything. Chicken sandwich- it's just not hard to pound out some chicken and serve a tasty sandwich. Worst Chicken sandwich ever. Steak sandwich. Really not a steak sandwich. More like a diced up (frozen beef ) French dip. ZERO flavor on either sandwich. I am okay with the waiter messing up an order. I am not okay, with him being angry at me over his mistake. The food was not good. I ordered a turkey club with a side salad. I ate the salad and left more than half of the club. The bread was stale and it was not on sourdough as it use to be. The turkey was bland, cheap, and tasteless, not at all like the wonderful sandwich that they use to serve. my companion had a tasteless unseasoned over priced burger. Its location is not the greatest (in the Island Mall on High School Road), but this should not deter you from visiting. The menu selection is extensive and quite varied. I have eaten in every restaurant on Bainbridge in the 33 years I have lived here. It serves the best burger, fries, onion rings, and fried Brussels spouts anywhere.
