    Burger melt

Lovely staff, very kind, friendly and apologetic for the wait times during the lunch rush coupled with being short staffed. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the sunshine under umbrellas looking at the golf course. Food was tasty, served hot and cooked as ordered.

The burger was so good I forgot to snap a picture before it was half gone.

Hidden gem! One of the best places for lunch anywhere on Bainbridge Island. I just ate here with my family. The service was very quick and friendly, the atmosphere on the deck was relaxing, and the food was top-notch. We ordered inside and the food was brought to the table. My wife's chef's salad was big and varied, with generous portions of vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, radish, onion, cucumber), meats, cheeses, egg, and more. My three-year-old's chicken tenders were tastefully seasoned and cooked just right with a good crisp to the outside and moist chicken breast in the center. My cheeseburger was so good it deserves its own paragraph. The bun was some type of artisan bread, with a delicious taste and texture and toasted just right. The meat was thick and juicy along with a very generous slice of ripe tomato and romaine lettuce. I ordered mine without onion or mayo and instead applied good-ol' american ketchup and mustard. This was easily one of the better burgers I have had in some time, and sized just right. The accompanying fries (for $1) were crinkle cut with a good crispiness on the outside. To get to the restaurant, park in the lot and walk up the path toward the golf course, past the putting green on your left and around the front of the clubhouse on your right. The second entrance to the clubhouse up on the deck will take you to the indoor seating and the counter where you place your order. When we arrived the US Open was playing on a large LCD TV on the wall and golfing groups were eating a relaxed lunch. We opted to sit on the deck and our food was brought within a few minutes. While we ate, golfers played on the beautiful course in front of us and a bald eagle circled overhead. Not only was the food good and well priced, but the view was gorgeous and the atmosphere relaxing. An excellent combination.

Stopped in for a bite of dinner after we were torn between another local pub (near Safeway) or here. We both had such fond memories of Docs and that led us to our choice. Got seated quickly but it took kinda forever to get even water delivered much less a drink order placed. We decided to make our dinner order too because of the drink delay. Hubby was too happy that they had his fav beer - black butte porter -available so her ordered that. My Chardonnay was from WA which is not my fav but it was a choice of $11/glass or $20/glass for an overpriced, under-tasting CA option. Our dinner came almost too quickly. 3 piece fish and chips. First impression: wow, that's hardly any fries. Second impression: wow, how long have these been sitting out. You can always depend on Docs fries to be amazing but not this time. They were limp, soggy and just about inedible. We did let our waiter know and he did reorder us a batch but they came almost at the end of our dinner tho. BUT these were the fries we rave about at Docs... hot, crispy, real potatoes. Yum! Now the fish: the cod itself was perfect. Thick, fresh, hot, moist but I don't know what this 'crusting' is. It's like it's been rolled in seasoned cracker crumbs then fried sure it's crispy but it's like it's encased in edible armor. Not a fan. The batter they used to have was so superior to this. I was disappointed to be honest. Upon paying and leaving hubby says: well, we won't do that again. It's too bad because it was such a regular hangout for us with my folks who just about everyone knew by name. It's also my first time back since they passed (2021) so I really was missing them. Not the same on many levels. Even the crack sauce wasn't 'right.' I've never left any behind in the cup before...I did this time.

I see the low reviews, mostly from people with young children about noise, and not about the beer. I've been at BB when the decibel level of children upstairs is quite loud. It seems to be a favorite place for families to gather during those times, which can make finding a seat difficult. By early evening, most folks have cleared out, and it's pretty empty as the 9:00 hour approaches. We particularly like sitting upstairs since there's pinball close by (four machines), which we used quite a bit on our last visit. And, of course, there's their beer, which I love. My favorite is the Eagle Harbor IPA, their signature West Coast IPA. Their Kömmuter Kölsch is also one of my favorites (and likewise my girlfriend's favorite). I frequently buy cans of both to take home (which you can also buy at the Safeway on High School Road, and at the alehouse on Winslow near the ferry terminal).
