It's time for a review update! The Brass Kraken Pub is still right on the water in Poulsbo. They are no longer family-friendly, so make sure to leave anyone under 21 at home. They have monthly specials that highlight different themes, so be sure to ask about the current food and drink offerings. They offer 18 beers on draft and two ciders, along with Ghostfish Brewing Company gluten-free beer in cans. The menu includes oysters, elk burgers, nachos, wings, calamari, cheese curds, tacos, and more. On weekends, they serve brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The patio area is nice and features bar stools that wrap around the entire building (there are no tables, just a bar-style railing). It can get a little warm outside since there's limited shade, but the view is to die for. For my gluten-free friends, the Brass Kraken offers gluten-free buns, corn tortillas for tacos, and one fully gluten-free beer option. We will start by saying the pork belly tacos are absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, we felt compelled to write a review because the service staff was disingenuous & dismissive. I absolutely LOVE this place!!! It's a must-go-to when I'm in Little Norway! The vibes are great! The views are amazing! The staff is super friendly! And not to mention it's WARM! I usually get the bone in chicken wings, with the kraken rub, and they are 10/10 if you like salty foods! I love that they offer up holiday drink menus but man did I miss my Ginger Mule after the fall time! LOL! The drinks never disappoint. Filled all the way to the brim! The Caribbean jerk wings are excellent and probably the best wings we've ever had . The fish and chips was equally great and the tartar sauce was amazing. I'm always impressed when pubs do the fish and chips right and actually do it by hand. This place is not to miss. We came to Brass Kraken for Harry Potter Trivia. We ordered Bodihafa beer, Brussels sprouts and Chicken nachos. The atmosphere was great, so many cool Harry Potter costumes and fun people. It was full and we had to wait for seats but the host was kind, and found us a two table top. The server was friendly and continued to check in on us. She was clearly really busy. Elk burger is extremely good. The staff is pretty quick and very hospitable. Theres was a game going on so pretty packed with people. Clam chowder is too salty for my taste. Nachos are well seasoned! Nice place by the water with awesome view. I was here for some college football, and the staff were super accommodating to make sure the TV in front of me had the game that I wanted to watch. Prices are decent for drinks and food. People here seemed to have decent vibes too. Would highly recommend if you are staying or going through Poulsbo. Parking can be tough during day time. First things first. The two gals that were working today, I didn't get your names and I'm sorry I didn't because you were a delight and hilarious. You also worked your buts off to make sure everyone had everything they needed 10/10 service. My mom and I came in and grabbed seats, came in the wrong way and didn't see the sign that said wait to be seated... our bad. But you guys were so nice, welcoming and even though you only got busier as the minutes went on you both stopped by our table multiple times to check in! Then our significant others walked in and you helped them out too! The drinks were delicious, we had to stop at one because we'd be playing mermaids in the lake if we did more hahahaha The food was also really good, came out quick and very flavorful. Thank you for also checking on the sweatshirts and merch for us. There's tons of places to eat in this area but because of the service and atmosphere we will make it a point to stop by here every visit. Sat at the bar on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Busy place. 21+ only in the heart of Poulsbo on the water. Bartender was friendly, but not overly chatty. Fried mushrooms were absolute perfection!! Wow!!! I couldn't wait to write this review! I flew in today and first stop after unloading luggage was The Brass Kraken! I went thinking I wanted fish as we are in PNW do as the locals do! So started with a Rainer on draft and had an amazing burger ! Drum roll please.... The Elk Burger was phenomenal and I mean wow the flavor the juicy and delicious down fingers and hand drippings from the blue berry jam and balsamic reduction. The service was great too! I give the clam chowder a 3.2. As someone who was born and raised in Pismo Beach ca, travels to the Oregon coast frequently, and has traveled the East coast..... my husband and I were so confused by this clam chowder. It resembled more of an Italian soup. All the seasonings my Italian mother uses we tasted in the soup. Clams? What clams? Mine had three. It was all potatoes. We have been to Brass Kraken a few times and have had good experiences, except for this last Sunday (1/11/26). Our waitress came by shortly after we were seated to take our drink orders. She then took our meal orders when she brought the drinks. My mom and husband ordered their food, then I ordered mine because I wanted ask for adjustments. The waitress repeated our orders, including my special requests. At that point we also asked for more hot water for my mom's tea, and the waitress brought hot water right away. From this point the service took a turn. My meal was incorrect and both my husbands and my fries were cold. The waitress knew the other was incorrect and offered to fix it, however, we had already been waiting a while. She came by once while we were there but never asked if we needed refills on our beverages. The place was busy, but the waitress serving the table next to us visited their table at least 3 times. Needless to say, we were disappointed and will think twice about returning. read more

Good food and fun atmosphere. Pay attention to the service; when ordering the fish sandwich, the waitress asked what side she would like with it. Later learned when we received the bill that the "side" was not included with the meal but was a separate itemized menu item. Same waitress also came to our table with an extra drink. She informed of this, she admitted it was an error and then said, "well, I guess I'm just a mess a tonight, do you guys want the extra drink?" What could improve is the bartenders customer service to be the same for every individual that comes up to the bar and orders a drink. Very unfriendly, but when someone they knew( possibly a local) I saw them treated friendly. We chose to go into this establishment because of the ambience and to chill and visit with each other( my daughter which I rarely see) when we chose a table inside to take a break from the sun( ordered another drink). I saw the same bartender give out coasters to some tables looked at us and bypassed with a side eye. I used to just come for the drinks. Good bartenders, cool atmosphere, better beer than The Pig, fun place to have a few and unwind. Then I realized they actually do first-rate pub-grub. Like, the tots are consistently pretty awesome. And it's the best burger in town. And the monthly special menu always has at least one banger on it. Then I realized I had previously missed out on half the goodness of the place -- the staff is downright awesome. A visit to the The Brass Kraken is almost always in the cards during any of our trips to Poulsbo, as it is among the best places to take a load off and stretch after the long drive from Portland, or unwind after hours of walking around and shopping on Front Street. The food is mostly standard pub fare, with a few stand out items (the lamb burger is worthy of praise!), but overall, definitely several tiers higher than any dive bar. Service has always been prompt and friendly, and the patio out back is the perfect place to take in a warm, sunny day (not that we're getting many of those, lately). Drinks are reasonably priced, generously sized, and delicious, whether your order is a specialty cocktail, or something old hat. read more

First of all the service was very good. It was a bit loud which made it hard to hear. The four of us had a burger, which was good, 2 had clam chowder, which is not recommended. Over powered with spices and butter floating on top. It was not good chowder for a seaside town. I had calamari which was also not good. Very greasy mostly batter. I had high hopes for this place and there is a great view and all other restaurants I have been in Poulsbo were great but sadly this place was a complete disappointment. We were a large party of 9 and were seated right away as they were not very busy. We placed our food order consisting of 3 French dips, nachos , clam chowder, burger and fish n chips. We waited 1 hour for our food. The server did tell us that we could be waiting 40 mins for food as they were short staffed. During our 1 hour wait the server came but one time telling us we had about another 30 mins but did not offer to refill drinks or come back again. After 50 minutes I went to the desk and asked how much longer as we had watched over 10 people come in the restaurant and be served food. Abut 5 minutes after that we were brought room temp food. Clam chowder which had a thick layer of grease on top which server stated that is how their chowder is today. By this time we were so hungry we all tried to eat what we could of our room temp food and stale hard French dip rolls. Unacceptable excuses about being short staffed but makes no sense with the amount of other people coming in and being served food promptly. I do not recommend. The only thing going for this place is a beautiful water view! read more
