What a great diner to start the morning! Our whole family came here hungry and ready to have some great food! One got steak and eggs, another got the fried egg sandwich, another got the eggs Benedict, ABCT omelette. The steak and eggs were very good, good portions, and the bread was toasted perfectly. The fried egg sandwich was good, good flavor but a little too much tomato for his liking. Combo together was super good though. The eggs Benedict was also really good, the muffin was a little hard, but the sauce and the egg was great. The omelette was also really good, no comment. The one thing mainly I have to comment is that the hash browns had this really weird seasoning that none of us liked. Other than that it was amazing! Really recommend this place. read more

Brunch diner near the eastern end of the main street, on the corner of the intersection. Pretty busy for brunch on a Sunday. Definitely the busiest restaurant on the street at that time. Had to wait 20 min for a table for 4. Small-ish interior with the classic diner counter seats and also a few tables. Has a small outdoor area in front. Down-to-earth diner look, with some artwork by local artists on the walls. Standard diner menu, with breakfast items like omelets, benedicts etc on one side, and burgers, sandwiches and drinks on the other. I got the steak and eggs. Eggs, hash brown and toast are pretty standard, hard to get those wrong. The steak which was a 5oz sirloin was better than I expected. It was actually cooked to medium, not chewy and had decent flavor. There was enough food on the $19 plate to fill up. Food was served in reasonable time. Did take a few attempts to wave down someone to take our order and get the check, probably because it was busy. read more

Ferried over to Bainbridge Island and made the mistake of randomly walking in the first place we passed...five minutes after they closed. We were so grateful they decided to seat us! We got two egg sandwiches with hashbrowns and let me tell you...I won't be able to eat another egg sandwich and be satisfied again. It was THE best I've ever had. I got mine without bacon, add avocado. My husband got his bacon and no avocado. We both agreed they were fantastic. Kids both got grilled cheese and each inhaled the entire thing. Very cool small town atmosphere and the service was great. They have local art hanging on the walls that's also for sale. Seating outside and inside. This place is terrific! Super close to the ferry dock. It was an hour wait, but worth it. They have a bunch of toys and games upfront for kids, which is absolute genius and I don't know why every restaurant doesn't do it. We played sushi go while waiting for our meals. The muffin of the day was a chocolate orange and the flavour was terrific. We got the breakfast burrito, which was enormous and I had half for breakfast and half for dinner that night. Citrus French toast was my favorite. The kale salad had a very strong olive flavour so make sure you like olives before you get it. Streamliner Diner is a cozy, friendly spot conveniently close to the Bainbridge ferry. I've been twice and the menu is simple with plenty of good options. The first time I tried the Potato Deluxe -- tasty, but the hash browns were a bit too soft for me since I prefer them crispy. On my second visit, the waffle was delicious, simple, and exactly what I wanted. Overall, great location, quick food, and a comforting, homey atmosphere. I'd happily come back. We walked in and waited a full 10 minutes before anyone even greeted us. After waiting 30 minutes total to be seated, no one had bothered to tell us how long the wait would be. I asked where she expected us to sit, and she replied, "Not here." We walked out. To top it off, we watched the cook handle raw bacon with his bare hands and then immediately touch cooked toast. We were looking for a quick brunch spot on an early Sunday morning and decided to try the Streamliner. It's a diner. It's got diner fare. Not a lot of seating inside, but with some nice outdoor spots when the weather is nice. We had no problem getting a seat when we arrived. Something worthy to note: they have a lot of vegetarian options (noted by VEG on their menu). They're also downtown and quite close to the ferry terminal. I ordered their Basic Breakfast (2 eggs, toast, muffin or biscuit), and my girlfriend ordered their breakfast burrito. The Basic Breakfast was what it was called: basic. I got the biscuit, which was tasty, especially lathered with butter. Bacon was slightly overcooked. Eggs were fine. I got some pico de gallo on the side, which was all right (not spicy in the slightest.) My girlfriend's burrito was kind of a brick. There's no other way to describe it: rectangular, and fried in a pan. It was also quite dense and dry. She did not enjoy it. read more

We did not mind waiting for a table- over an hour- because there is great shopping etc. but after sitting for over 90 minutes and having all of the tables around us turn over and still not having food, we inquired and were made to feel that we were high maintenance. Had a very interesting experience at the Streamliner Diner. We came pretty early on a weekend for brunch, but still waited a really long time for a table and a really long time for our food. I think we put our name on the list, walked down to Blackbird and back, and still waited 20 minutes to be seated. Our food took around 70 minutes to come out... over an hour! They were busy for weekend brunch, but I feel like over an hour is pushing it. The table next to us actually didn't get food because their order was LOST! I think their order got comped... but that was really unfortunate to overhear. I got the Green Machine Scramble which was fine. I thought it was good but not worth the wait. I did think the blueberry muffin that it came with was pretty good as well :) Maybe I would come if there was no line and the food was guaranteed to come out in a reasonable amount of time. We all had breakfast items and we were fortunate to not have to wait when we entered and had counter seats for our party of four. It took about forty-five minutes for our food to come but watching the staff adeptly prepare the dishes made the time go quickly. We came here for to pick up our salads as part of the Bainbridge mystery co picnic. It was fairly busy since we were there on a Sunday afternoon. We checked in with the waitress and she said she would bring our two salads out to us. We waited for about 40 minutes before getting our salads. The salad was a dino kale, quinoa and avocado salad with some sort of dressing but to be honest it was probably one of the most bland salads I've ever had. The dressing was tasteless and there wasn't enough dressing on the salad so it was really dry. A bit skimpy on the avocado. I think they through in two biscuits for the long wait and honestly the biscuits were some of the best I've ever had. Basically the only place in Kitsap open for brunch on Sundays with decent vegan options! The tofu scramble has some tasty marinated tofu chunks with spinach and mushrooms, but I don't like mushrooms so got them to sub in olives. They did charge me an extra $1 for that. It comes with perfectly cooked and steaming hash browns on the side and your choice of toast or muffin. I specified no butter for my toast, but it did come out totally dry. I was fine with that for the most part, but had finished my food with half a piece left and half wasn't going to eat it dry, some jam would've been nice! I would've asked, but we were in a rush. They also initially forgot to bring my hash browns, but quickly remedied that when I asked about it. The place is busy. We arrived at 11:10 am in a Sunday and though there was no line, all tables were full. We lucked out as a group of three was just leaving, but it took a few minutes to turn over the table. Once we sat we ordered quickly and coffee came out fast (they have oat milk), but then the food took quite a while. Since we needed to leave, we went in and asked to pay around 12:40 pm. There is a nice little outdoor seating area for when the weather is decent! It's October and we were fine outside, I imagine they close that at some point. We did notice that whenever the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry arrived, there was a mad rush of people and a line would form, so if you're not coming off the ferry, would highly recommend you look at the ferry schedule to avoid right after one arrives. I was really hungry and didn't have much time to get brunch before getting back on the ferry when I read the reviews here for Streamliner Diner. I was able to call in an order with some substitutions without any issues. The lady on the phone said it would be ready in 20 minutes and it was just about ready when I arrived! I enjoyed my tofu scramble very much! They added extra greens in lieu of the regular side that would have come with it and it was delicious! While we had a bit of a wait for our group of eight, the restaurant was ultimately able to seat us all together (which was fabulous). Our assigned server was absolutely amazing - warm, engaging, patient - even though there were a lot of us (including four kiddos under the age of twelve). She just took it all in stride - sporting a smile throughout. She even ensured that some of the shared meals at the table were served on separate plates. We were just so grateful for her. The food we ordered was also pretty good. Everyone loved our appetizer of buttermilk biscuits with jam. My husband and I loved the citrus French toast and accompanying bacon we shared. My cousin enjoyed his biscuit sandwich and cheese topped hash browns - even if the sandwich was a bit tricky to eat. His wife seemed to enjoy most of her breakfast plate. The kiddos all loved their hot chocolate, but they were more of a mixed bag on their food responses. Overall, we were ecstatic to find a fun - even if tight - space to accommodate our large group, while we caught-up. The inside was cozy and warm, busy with hungry and excited diners waiting to be served. We got seated fairly quickly (around 5 min). Our server quickly took our order promptly which was great. Then the reality of the wait set in. It took nearly 45 min to get our food! I get that the kitchen was busy, but at least communicate it to your customers or serve them their 'breads' (muffins/biscuits). Solid 3 stars I think the only reason this place is popular is because it's one of the only brunch places you can find when you come to Bainbridge. The wait is usually 40 minutes or more. After you order it takes another 20-35 minutes depending. Pretty long waste of time in my opinion. Everyone in the same boat waiting forever just to eat something that's good, but not good. The eggs benedict is decent, but nothing to die for. The service here is pretty nice although we started out with three glasses of water for a group of five. Only some of us had napkins and barely anyone had any full set of utensils. Slowly, things were placed during the long wait for our food. Given the amount of time spent waiting, you probably could just go somewhere else and eat. If you're really craving American brunch though, just come early or be prepared to wait. read more

Our friend was hyping up Streamliner Diner so we HAD to check it out during our stay on Bainbridge Island. According to our friend there can be a long wait but luckily we were able to get seated right away on a corner table. Streamliner Diner has all the breakfast diner vibes. Cozy little shop with an open kitchen, some tables & some counter seating along the open kitchen's bar. Service was fairly quick - one server was taking care of the all of the tables but she looked like she was managing them just fine. Our coffees & teas were brought out quickly, food took a little longer but we were happy to wait since good things take time! I ordered a sausage & pesto omelet w/ a biscuit. It was a HUGE plate of food, and it was sooo delicious! The omelet was filled to the brim with veggies & meat, the pesto flavor was strong (but not too strong!). And the biscuit.. Oh my goodness! Biscuits are not part of my usual meal plan, but even my untrained biscuit palate could tell these were amazing. The were flaky yet perfectly warm & chewy in the center. I tried to eat only half, but I ended up picking up the last half as I was leaving our table :D Besides this glorious dish, our table also had a huge breakfast burrito and biscuits & sausage gravy.
