I am amending a review I posted in October 2016. Since then we have returned to the Hampton Diner to "give it another shot" as it's close by. The place is much improved in my opinion with the food being consistently good and the serving staff very improved also. It is also very clean with a nice counter if you prefer that. I had a heart attack 4 months ago and when I got out of the hospital and was put on a special low carb no sugar diet. The owner Demetri was helpful and his staff they recommended Chicken La Boca which is on there Atkins diet section of the menu. Outstanding , I can't say enough about this dish even if you're not on a special diet this is the best thing I have ever tasted and every time I go into this restaurant order 2 dishes of it. One to take home and one to eat there, one plate is enough for 2 people but I can't get enough of it mmm mmm good. read more

Pleasantly surprised - stopped in for breakfast - bacon was cooked perfectly and not a thin piece of bacon. Husband had an omelette and he loved it. Bakery items looked great although I'm gluten free and they do not have any gluten free bread. read more

I have never been disappointed with Hampton Diners food or service! It is my favorite place to eat in the area. My go to is the Chicken Milano Wrap. Other diners make it very dry and this place nails it! My kids also love the giant hot dogs from the kids menu. read more

I visit this diner all the time with my boyfriend and it is absolutely my favorite. Its convenient because its right on Route 206 and it is quick, regardless of how many people are in the diner. The food has always been excellent every time we go and the service is just as good. I usually get the cheese quesadilla without anything else in it, so they always add extra cheese in for me and it always taste amazing. I have been there for breakfast, lunch and even dinner and the food is excellent all around. Their home fries are excellent. read more

Integrity....from the owners right down to the person who washes dishes. Took my nephew here after driving over 90 minutes to see him. We went here once before, food was "ok" and service "good". It took us maybe 10 minutes to be seated since they were pretty packed. Started out with seafood bisque and my nephew a salad. Soup was very salty and who puts squid in a seafood bisque. It was like a thick liquid with rubber bands inside. The waitress (some woman with the funkiest "lampshade" type hairstyle) never showed and after waiting and waiting, just ate the soup out of hunger. We both ordered burgers...mine a medium with well done fries and my nephews medium rare. Both soup and salad plates were cleared and another 20 plus minutes went by when the waitress shows up...and warns us to be careful because the plates were very hot. Gotta tell you...yes they were....because when you keep food in the heat lamps...several things happen...the burgers DRY OUT..both came out well done. Fries were not well done and not fresh...but everything was hot. After another 15 minutes, she reappeared. When I showed her the dry food and the reason the plates were HOT was because of being under a heat lamp. She LIES to me (I've worked as a waiter before) and says that this food was not under the lamp and she had picked it up fresh. Not sure where she went after she picked it up, because to our table, she did not come. Had a real attitude about it. Then hands me a check for the soup and two drinks. We dropped over $90.00 last time we went to this place. Never again. To add to insult, the woman at the front door apologies and says..."Sorry guys about your burgers....we are just very busy". Honesty...something I could live with but a waitress without integrity and respect for her bosses customers....awful. Truth and Integrity...will win a customer back everytime. This waitress....will lose a customer everytime. PS...Took my nephew to the Chatterbox down the road on rt 15. Excellent burgers and fries, cooked to order and just as you ask. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember, probably around 15 years, and it's gone so downhill now I won't come back. My last few experiences have been unpleasant but I never complained because I loved this place. However, the last 2 times I was here were horrible. The first time, our waitress must have not been paying attention or just did not like us. She messed up our drinks, put in my order wrong, and the buffalo chicken wrap I had had about one teaspoon of buffalo on the top... almost as if they forgot the buffalo and added it last minute and by time I got the fries for my order that the waitress forgot I already finished the rest of my meal and had to take them home. The last time I was there will definitely be my last because our waitress took over 15 minutes to come take our drink order, was so rude when we asked her what the soups were, and once again the buffalo chicken wrap had no sauce on it and the little sauce it did have was some weird sweet buffalo sauce that tasted so bad we left the whole wrap there. Three tables around us that came in after us got their food and finished before ours even came out. When my sister went to talk to the manager about how bad our service and how bad the wrap was, they did not care nor did they care to even ask who our horrible server was. As someone who's been a long time customer here, this place deserves no stars but I gave it one because they have some pretty awesome servers and workers that we've known for years and I'd hate to discredit them. But the food and service lately is probably 0 stars. read more

Then we ordered our food and we have been sitting here for over 20 minutes ( we got soup , a crepe, and a wrap) it should not have taken this long and to add to it a party of 5 got here after us and got there food already. First of all I want to say do not eat here the food was very soggy and tasted very bad My Wife's Salad was soggy and had zero flavor. My Son got a Shrimp and scallop Scampi and the pasta was mushy and over sauced and the Shrimp tasted expired. Had breakfast at the Hampton Diner earlier this month. It was a beautiful morning for coffee and breakfast. My Western omelet just wasn't very western. To be fair I won't rate the Hampton Diner on their food. I have only been there once - and sometimes one shot is all you get to make a good impression. I will give the Hampton a rating because the young lady who attended to my breakfast needs was friendly, attentive and kept that coffee flowing. read more

Usually good food and service. Tonight, however, not so much... Sat at the counter alone and the counter waitress who i thought was attending to a customer but was obviously just b.s.ing with a friend, says quite loud enough for me to hear, "where is she, why am I stuck here, I'm not...." Asks me if I would like something to drink and barely waits for me to answer while walking away. Next I was greeted by a second waitress who saw me reading the menu and asked if I needed to look longer, I did. She too walked away before I answered. Then the first waitress returned with my coffee and said she would be serving me, but was clearly not happy. I ordered a soup, salad and dinner plate. The soup came immediately with the salad and dinner arriving within 3 minutes of the soup! Stopped in this diner with a buddy and my service dog. They brought her a bowl of water and made me a couple of pieces of chicken for her as well. I had the chicken & avocado salad and it was delicious. My buddy had the triple-decker turkey sandwich and loved it. We started to drink the water and opted for pink lemonade since tap water is not really good from what I understand. Our server (Maria) was very sweet and quite attentive. The most backwards run place in the world. From the second we walked into the place, we knew there were going to be problems left and right. First you'll find out that they have no diner items to pick from, just breakfast, lunch and that's it. They will give you an excuse saying that they have no one working in the kitchen and they taken everything off the menu. So you cant have a chicken parm diner, but you can have a chicken parm sandwich? Are you people that lazy that you cant boil water and put pasta in it. Ordered sliders, and specifically said for it to come out rare. And guess what they have 1/3 less to do and they still cant get anything right. The sliders came out burn beyond recognition. So between the excuses and the lack of anything to eat, we just got up and walked out the door. When we paid for just the soda, we told the manager about the problems that we had encountered about certain cooks that cant read tickets and just look at the word and just associate it with what the customer wants. He goes off half c*cked, trying to accuse of as being racist against spanish people. Typical zero IQ you get from people that live in jersey! We live in San Diego and have 2 restaraunts and guess what the majority of them are that work there are spanish. At least our spanish cooks can read a ticket propery and get it out the right way, unlike the Hampton diner that makes up excuses and lies. read more

My husband and I use to go here very frequently. The last 4 times (yes we decided to give it several chances) it was a horrible experience. Items ordered came out wrong every time (lunch my husband ordered a hamburger, a vegetarian burger came out), soups were very salty, steak was cold, ordered a drink (alcoholic) got some other drink, at end of one experience, ordered an "elephant ear" (pastry) the waitress literally threw it in the bag without wrapping it and it was stale!! The older woman who I assume is the owner, Never asks how was everything (I guess she doesn't want to hear it). When we offered to tell her she did not apologize or say anything. I am very sad. Ate there two days ago. Me and my cousin had the fish and chips. The beer batter was raw as well as the fish. I told the waitress it was raw and forced myself to eat the first piece. My cousins plate was the same raw .She returned my plate and never came back. No manager came over to talk to me about the situation at hand. Post Covid-19 indoor dining is finally now available in New Jersey, however, the place has changed drastically and unfortunately not for the better. We opted to eat outside under the large tent as we were told that our waitstaff personnel preference was only serving tables outside. We learned later on that was not true. Although the temperature was cool enough to make dining acceptable under the tent at the time I killed several of the numerous bothersome flies during the meal. Since it is outside under a large tent I don't know why they can't use a bug zapper in a corner or citronella candles. My entree was overcooked, the side dish was maybe lukewarm and I didn't chance sending it back as I feared it would not be returned promptly and was needed to make eating the expensive entree tolerable. I didn't want their customary gratis bread that may be fresh in the morning when it is first baked so I ordered toasted Garlic Bread at an additional cost. I was never served Garlic Bread before that had more paprika then Garlic. It may look pretty but it is after all called Garlic Bread for a reason. We were offered a choice of three soups, however, we were not told there would be an up charge for the French Onion soup which I still would have ordered, however, it would have been nice to disclose. The clincher was when the bill was presented and I was then informed that if I used a credit card I would be charged a small fee that I later learned they call a Non-Cash Adjustment Fee. The Non-Cash Adjustment Fee was (4) four percent of the total bill! If I charged my clients a (4) four percent fee for paying with a credit card I would have (0) zero no clients and (0) no business. It will be a long time before we return to this location and hopefully they will realize that without the customer there is no business. read more

Love the Hampton Diner. Food is fresh and service is great. The owners are there and greet you at the door. We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Doesn't matter is the place is rocking or slow, the service and food are always the same. They do have specials but I love the burgers. It is a diner but I have never had a bad or mediocre meal. Average at best. No, not going to keep everyone happy all the time. However, you could at least greet a returning customer with a smile! The service is the issue. Not a lack of, but the quality of. A warm greeting and friendly smile will not be found here. I've seen very few repeat customers treated nicely. We've been in town for many years and keep returning despite being treated like strangers. I know I'm not the only one with this opinion. Just took me time to realize that it is in fact worth sharing our experience in public. We are hoping that the ownership will pay attention and replace the greeter and add some training on customer appreciation. If the staff is family, maybe you need to rethink your attitudes and treat customers with respect. If you can't, I assure you the negative reviews from others will continue to post. Food quality if ok, and sometimes even good. The staff quality just about always stinks. We more or less give up until we see "UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP' or at least NEW MANAGEMENT! Went here last night for the first time and ordered 2 gyro platters, beef and chicken. The beef and chicken were definitely not fresh and tasted like it was microwaved. Kudos to Hampton Diner. I planned a baby shower for my daughter. Two days before the shower, the restaurant that was to host the shower had to close because of bad weather. Hampton diner accepted our party of more than 20 people with a few days notice. They were very accommodating in helping us decorate and cut and serve the cake we brought. The food came out together and was hot and well prepared. Pitchers of water on the tables and kids cups with lids. Amanda the waitress and the bus boy who's name I didn't get were amazing. They anticipated our needs before we even asked. They deserve a raise! Thanks for helping make my daughter's shower a success. read more

Ordered the hot open turkey dinner. Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing & spinach (extra charge) was cold. Turkey was dry & stuffing was a round ball of tasteless cold mush. My friend asked for a cup of hot water. She got luke warm water. Also ordered was 2 burgers & shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. They seemed to be acceptable. Service was good. Coffee tasted like wrung out socks. Terrible. Will not return. read more
