Sunshine Roll and a Banzai roll in back
Michael H.

Back in town and needed to get my Hana fix. Busy as usual but I was able to get a two spot and enjoy a couple of rolls. The sunshine was good but the Banzai was amazing. Wow. Too late in the evening for green tea so opted for water. I started it all off with a miso which was good also. Interior is the modern Asian fusion decor. Seems lots of college kids were in. Part of being a college town.

Hana sushi quickly became my favorite place for sushi in Gainesville. The fish is super fresh and every roll I've tried has been amazing. Service is great but it does get really busy for dinner.

Excellent service once they moved is away from the restrooms/kitchen area Lots of parking near the restaurant and by Dave and Buster The ambiance was very casual but nice family friendly. The star of the show was the food, so much delicious food. I can't wait return.

Hana sushi was good as always. I came here to catch up with a friend and the food was good, service was great, and the ambiance was a lot for a Friday night but that's to be expected. I had edamame, shrimp shumai, and the volcano roll. I ate first before my phone did so that's why I only got one photo.

It's always great food when going to Hana! This time around though the only thing I don't like are the floors!! You can slip, fall, and possibly break or hurt something! Service: We were told 25 minute wait and it was just about accurate maybe less so that was nice. I wish they had more seating for ppl waiting to be seated lol or make it so we can stand at the bar and get a drink. Food: My friend and I got the Golden crab Rangoon to start. Delicious! We shared the following rolls: 1) Spicy Scallops Roll: Delicious! 2) Two thumbs up: also delicious but a little more on the sweet side and just wasn't what my palate wanted that night 3) Lonely angel: the favorite of the night! Ambience: They really need to do something about the floors. It slippery everywhere even in the bathroom! They have a sign but the floors aren't wet it's some time of wax or something. Also, it's kinda gross to sit down and the table top be wet from them cleaning it off. I wish they also dried the table off before seating us

On our way back home, we stopped in Gainesville and wanted sushi. Via Yelp, I found this place. Although prices were a bit higher than expected, everything we ordered was really good. We ordered the Salmon Lover, which included soup and salad, Passion Roll (super tasty - although the spicy tuna was not really that spicy), chicken tempura roll, and the usual Salmon/Avocado and Tuna Roll. Overall, fish was fresh and portions were just right. The server was very attentive and informative when questions were asked about some roll options.

Hana is a Gainesville staple. Most nights there is a long wait, and they don't take reservations, but the wait is worth it. The food comes out super quickly as well. We had the chef's selection and the two of us were hardly able to finish it. It was a great variety of fish and it all tasted super fresh. Sushi was well made and presentation was terrific, too. I've never had a bad roll here, and their drinks are delicious as well. I recommend the lychee martini! Will have to return soon on a weekday to see if it's easier to get in!

I heard Hana was good and and yelp reviews agreed so we came here for dinner the other night and it did not disappoint. Located across the street from Celebration Pointe on the same side as Dave & Buster. Easy parking, but they don't take reservations on football weekends so be prepared to wait a little bit. We arrived Friday night at seven and only had a 20 minute wait. The restaurant is big inside so they can accommodate a lot of people. Sushi was fresh. Started with spicy Tuna Rolls and Salmon Rolls. Both we're excellent. Spicy Girl Roll - Spicy Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail with avocado rolled in pink soy bean paper. Unique and a nice twist. Hana Naruto Roll - also had Spicy Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail a bit of Kani, avocado and caviar rolled in cucumber. This no rice dish was excellent especially if you're looking for something without all the rice. Food and service were good. I will definitely go back when I'm in town.

Dog friendly -- outdoor dining on the side..

We decided to sit outside as pup was along for the ride from Sarasota to just north of Gainesville, about two and a half hours of driving. Once we settled into our hotel I fired up YELP to see what's around and was mildly surprised by all the options. I'm guessing it's due to it being a college town University of Florida - Go Gators. The outside dining area was quite messy and I do believe that it was from the night before, having not been totally cleaned up - turn off? yes, but getting back into the car was far more unappetizing than anything else I could envision. The sashimi appetizer was smallish as most sushi appetizers tend to be, the color and texture seemed fine but there was something a bit off in the taste, bland is the description I'll go with but there was just something I can't quite put my finger on going on. Two rolls each, names are evading me and somewhat unimportant as I reflect back now, and if the food was better, I'd go through the slight trouble to look up the answers on their website - but the experiment is not drawing any further creativity nor independent research out of me - and that flies in the face of all the positive reviews I read prior to us going for our early dinner. College kids -- humph - what do they know?

I am so glad I tried this place out today. I was craving for a premium sushi rice bowl today, and…read moresaw that this restaurant had a Hokkaido don bowl, which had premium scallops from Hokkaido Japan, sea urchin (uni), and red fish eggs (ikura). Soup was included too. It was a decent size bowl with generous portions of each mentioned fish. It tasted mostly fresh, with the uni having the premium silky flavor, the ikura having the briny pop, and the scallops having the buttery texture with a hint of lemon since they sliced it. The rice was flavorful with the added seasonings. It was definitely a luxury splurge. And best of all, it was a great deal for only 30 dollars. The soup was nothing special, but still refreshing and enjoyable. The service was pretty casual, but quick and friendly. The atmosphere is very casual with a limited amount of tables, and the sushi bar is pretty small. When you enter, you would think it was just a counter service or takeout restaurant. At least there was nice Japanese music in the background. This restaurant is a great example of why you shouldn't judge it by it's atmosphere. While it looks so casual and a little boring, their Hokkaido bowl makes it feel luxurious. It was well worth the splurge and such a great deal for 30 dollars. I will definitely eat here again whenever I visit Gainesville, and try their Mahzu don next time, which uses other higher end fishes they have. Overall: A

We arrived later on a Saturday night craving hibachi and sushi, and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, and my husband went with the lobster roll. My meal started with a cup of miso soup and if you follow our adventures you know I love miso. They did not disappoint. It was hot, flavorful, and tasted freshly made with good ingredients. For a drink I ordered a Long Drink. We first tried these at a local festival and fell in love, so when we saw a citrus flavor we had never tried before we were excited to order it. My hibachi came out hot and smelled amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce mixed into the rice was really good. I do wish they gave just a little extra sauce for the rice. The rice itself was a bit stiff, but the sauce helped a lot. We also came about an hour before closing, so we were not too bothered by that. Our waitress was good, and her coworker stepped in to help when she was busy, which we appreciated. I also liked that you can see the sushi chefs working right there, and my husband really enjoyed his roll. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which always matters. I also have to mention the water because it actually tasted good. If you know, you know how rare that can be. They also have plenty of parking, which makes things easy. Overall we had a great experience and it was the perfect spot for a much needed date night.

Love the decor ,very modern, a lot of lighting aesthetics. soft music playing over speakers We ordered a couple appetizers which came out hot, also been getting into sushi lately. So we ordered a roll to share as an appetiter as well, very fresh. Very good, they have a large variety of sushi rolls, raw and cooked. I learned the black Fried Rice with chicken supposed to be more healthy than regular Fried Rice for you. It was very very good! My wife got the spicy seafood soup, which was very good.I tried a little bit of that as well. I can see why all the reviews were really good. Its definitely one of my top 3 now!!

Then they hit it with a drizzle of ketchup like it's a consolation prize. This isn't Korean Fried Chicken; it's a school lunch with a passport. It's dishonest. Then you got the pork belly.
