Hanabi has even gotten better since Cindy and Young took over. They remodeled, they updated the menu,The crew is fabulous. My favorite new item is the sushi salad (Hwe Dup Bap, a Korean dish), its the perfect balance of food. They did a great job on the remodel of the place looks very fresh and modern. I have only ever Doordash'd this place, so I can only speak to the food. I always get nigiri or sashimi and every time it tastes incredibly fresh and I feel that the portion size is adequate for the price. My son is a big fan of their special rolls; he likes the rainbow and golden gate. I really enjoy their garlic edamame and have sometimes just ordered that for my lunch. I hope that they continue with the freshness of their seafood as it is the main reason why I continually order from Hanabi Sushi at least every other week. read more

This place is right around the corner from my work and is great for pickup. The lunch and dinner bento boxes are good sized portions for the price. Very close to the north concord bart station, you'll find yourself in a plaza with a Starbucks to your left to start your morning commute and Hanabi to the right to get after you come back from work for dinner. I came here around 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and their dinner menu already started. I normally fear dinner prices at japanese restaurants, but here isn't so bad. A deluxe bento box will get you your choice of meat/cooked fish, a serving of white sushi rice, either potstickers/sashimi/nigiri, a raw salad, a cooked salad, mixed tempura, 6 piece california roll, orange slices, and of course your starters (miso soup and salad) for just $14.95. That's A LOT of food, guys. For what seems to be the cheapest dinner bento I have ever come across. I didn't order this however. They also have a promo going for 2 select rolls for $16 - that's what I chose to do. I ordered the R&B with the Dynamite. R&B had tempura shrimp with crab inside and avocado and shrimp on the outside ~ a basic roll, but oddly satisfying. (I normally like to order rolls with a variety of raw fish). And the dynamite was tuna inside and seaweed salad and sriracha on top. Refreshing. This also seems like a popular place for surrounding businesses to come to for lunch! Haven't visited too many sushi places but they always have good sushi. I believe they have a special on the weekends with sushi which is nice. I've only had one problem, I specifically told the lady I wanted no fish eggs and what do you know it comes with fish eggs. She said it wasn't her fault and she didn't want to make me a new one. We went here to celebrate In-laws Anniversary. I ordered way too much food, but had a nice dinner out, nonetheless. We started off with a Seaweed salad and ordered Bento boxes for dinner. I also ordered 2x California Rolls, and Philly Roll. Rock and Roll Rolls and Dragon Rolls were also ordered along with a Vegetable soup. My Bento box had Teriyaki Chicken and Sashimi. The box also came with Miso soup, Rice, and Salad. The food came out quick and the service was friendly. My son's soup was forgotten, but they brought it out quickly. I would love nothing more than to give this place a good review based on thier food since I WAS a longtime customer however I cannot due to the lack of customer service I received both 11/18/17 @ 8:54pm (Saturday their advertised to close at 9:30 ) then again on 11/27/17 @ 8:41pm (Saturday their advertised to close at 9:30 . I loved thier miso ramen soup and had to have it 11/18. I called & the lady who answered said they were closing early due to a family emergency. Family emergencies are serious and perfectly understandable. I said no problem & that I would call back another time. I called again 11/27 and again the woman that answered the phone claimed to be closing early. She took my order and asked that I hurry because they were closing in 10 minutes???? It was 8:41pm though again they advertise they close at 9:30 BEACAUSE they DO close at 930 on Fridays and Saturdays!! Then to make matters worst they gave me regular beef broth instead of the miso broth. Point-blank I know what that soup looks like because I order that soup every time I go there and have been for the past several years . When I called to tell the lady that what I got was not what I ordered she outright denied it! Didn't even try to make it right or anything! I called her back just to tell her how I didn't appreciate how she handled the situation and that I would be calling her manager in the morning. I would recommend if you want to try this place I caution to only go early in the day going past 8:00pm so they don't close early on you. The mistake that was made could have been corrected and she didn't even attempted to correct the issue at all and that's why I cannot leave a positive review and is also why I will not be back. I feel terrible that I have to break up with my miso Ramen soup that I love so much from there but unfortunately this place rubbed me the wrong way twice too many times. Sorry Hanabi Sushi you really did it this time..... I hope you enjoy closing early ensuring you will losing major business from old customers and new customers alike. If you close early you should have your hours of operations updated are all your business advertising platforms. First timer. Service was OKAY, although the sushi was pretty good. The service wasn't, the waitresses all keep bunching up at the back of the restaurant and just stare at everyone, don't offer any water or a refill for drink when they walk by. They're just stoic. The men making the sushi also stare at everyone. Also, one of us had ordered a bento box, 30 mins later we were still waiting for it.. the waitresses was pulled aside and asked if it was almost done. She goes, "omg I'm sorry lemme go check on that." As she said that she goes and PLACES THE ORDER as we watched. She came back and says, "I'm sorry, it'll be ready in 2 mins" I'm sorry but no it's not. You had just placed it... long story short. Won't be returning. The three stars were for MY sushi. Light and perfectly fried but not a touch of greasy Then I tasted what is seriously, without a doubt the BEST tempura shrimp I've ever had, and I've had ALOT with a husband whose grandma is from Osaka Japan, Japanese food is a staple at our household! Here's the deal though, I won't go back to a place that doesn't pass our standard and Hanabi was beyond expectations! I just had lunch there this afternoon, and let me tell you about it. The atmosphere was very nice, compared to most small Japanese places that i've been to. I can't really say if the service was slow or fast because I was just enjoying my surroundings too much. They have a decent menu, it took my right up until the waitress came over for me to decide what to get and normally I pick very fast. My friend told me that they did spicy things very well so I got their spicy seafood ramen. Best mistake of my life! I suffered gloriously, it was so spicy that my eyes started to water. It was filled with tuna, shrimp, mussels, and even baby scallops, and of course lots of noodles. I had to have two glasses of water, which for the most part my waitress was very good at keeping full. VERY spicy, VERY tasty. Ultimately I was able to slurp it down to nothing. I had their tempura banana's for dessert, and they were very nicely cooked. I do not like green tea ice cream, but I ate all of it to cool my mouth. My experience was very good, the prices were fair, and the staff was very attentive. I would go back happily. read more

We took a chance after hearing negative reviews from friends. Should have taken their advise. Rolls were thick with rice, fish was not fresh, the tuna was "fishy". Avocado was hard....Gross. This sushi spot has been our favorite for about five years now, I can't believe it's taken me this long to review! We adore Hanabi, the waitresses are all sweethearts there and the gentlemen in the kitchen always greet us with a smile. Even in the pandemic we've made it a point to get a family meal to go at least every couple of weeks from Hanabi and they continue to uphold their high standards! The heart attack roll is my absolute favorite and I am obsessed with their house salad (what is in that dressing????) My fiancé loves the Martinez roll - he usually gets two lol - and the kids bento boxes are also great and super generous! We'll always be loyal to Hanabi! read more
