I was shocked to discover Hanamaru served both meat eaters and the plant based crew, and could not believe my eyes when I saw they had a vegan menu on Yelp, but call me astounded when I realized that it was several PAGES long. It reminded me a little of Huntington Ramen in Fullerton, and the similarities make sense since they are sister restaurants, as noted by previous Yelpers. We visited on a Saturday night to celebrate some birthdays, and realized that they had a pretty full crowd. We waited a little to be seated, but afterwards, service was both kind and attentive. I struggled to make up my mind on what to order, because everything on the vegan menu had pictures and looked absolutely phenomenal. I wound up just asking for a recommendation for the most popular roll, and landed on the vegan volcano roll, while my friend ordered the non-vegan volcano roll. We also ordered several small plates: baked mussels for my friend, and vegan inari bomb and vegan tofu karaage for us to share. While we waited, the server brought out two crispy rice--one vegan and one not vegan for us on the house. They were simply delicious, and I will need to order that the next time I'm dining here. Everything we ordered came quickly, and tasted as good as the pictures. My friend tried one of my vegan rolls, and she said it was just as good as her non vegan rolls. They're super flavorful but manage to taste very clean and light, perhaps from the cucumbers. She might just order from the vegan menu next time too! Of the small plates, I liked the tofu karaage more, but only because the flavors on the inari bomb resembled that of the rolls I ordered. I've been to many vegan sushi places over the years, and this is one of my favorite spots, despite it being catered to both meat eaters and vegans alike. After we finished, they also served us one vegan and nonvegan ice cream on the house. While we didn't tell them we were celebrating birthdays, their extremely kind service made us feel exceptionally well taken care of. It was ~$70 after tip and I tipped higher for the great service we received, so pre-tip prices are not unreasonable. This will definitely be my go to spot for whenever I'm craving vegan sushi. read more

We've visited twice and trued their Essentials and Signature AYCE menus. The restaurant is easy to find with ample parking and opens at 5pm. First Visit (Thursday - Essentials AYCE): We came with friends and tried a wide range of appetizers, ramen (good), and sushi, including all the limited premium selections. The shrimp tempura and dipping was very bland, and the soft-shell crab lacked crunch, but the salmon & yellowtail collars were excellent. Fish was fresh. All items were generously portioned and their generous cuts of fish was impressive. We also liked the grab-and-go drinks and desserts (though no Coke Zero). The restaurant filled up quickly after 6pm, so arriving early helped. Service by Sue was friendly and attentive. Second Visit (Friday - Signature AYCE): The Signature upgrade includes an omakase starter, unlimited bluefin tuna, plus everything on the Essentials menu. The unlimited bluefin tuna was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and worth the $15 upgrade. We mainly focused on sushi this time - blue fin, yellow tail, limited premium (scallops were amazing) items, avocado cut rolls, and carpaccios. The shrimp tempura was bland again (strike two) but the shishito peppers were a nice surprise. Finishing with Coke Zero (yay!) and ice cream was perfect. Chelsea, our waitress, was very attentive and engaging. Overall: Fresh fish, generous cuts and portions, and the Signature AYCE upgrade make this spot a gem. They also offer fresh-frozen wasabi which is a plus for me. Not everything hits the mark (tempura!), but the variety, attentive service, and value keep us coming back. Grab your Labubu and head to Hanamaru, can't wait to dip my sushi in their shoyu with my boo. Wish I could gatekeep this spot but this place deserves some respect. Best AYCE I've had in the area so far. Go for the Premier tier and you'll be rewarded with UNLIMITED BLUEFIN and an 8 piece omakase starter. I had 4 pieces of Uni, scallop, and some other high end fish/dishes including yellowtail collar w/out having to pay extra. Overall this sushi place is very solid. It is located on the side of a small shopping area with a good amount of parking although during busier times, parking can still be a little difficult. The service was fast and efficient. We also appreciated the unlimited drinks and ice cream that came with the omakase ayce option. The sushi was excellent for the most part. Each cut was clean, fresh, and went very well with the provided ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. I really liked the blue fin tuna and fatty tuna cuts. However, we were not fans of any of the GB (garlic butter) dishes. They were good at first but quickly became overwhelming. Minus the GB options everything else was excellent. Exceptional service and ayce sushi. Cassie, our server, was thorough and patient with our questions about their procedure. This was the first restaurant since my trip to Japan where I actually liked the albacore. Usually, it's too fishy, buy Hanamaru did it justice. The Cajun albacore and yuzu yellowtail were crowd favorites, but the fatty and bluefun tuna were the pinnacle of our tasting experience. Fresh and simple. Can't go wrong with that. The rolls were nicely made and full of flavors, I cannot remember all the rolls that we ordered, but the Cajun Jalapeno is one of my favorites. Came with a few friends on a Monday night. One of my friends is a vegetarian, and there is a surprisingly extensive vegan Japanese menu here, which I don't find at a lot of places. Usually, my friend only has a few options to choose, but they had a whole separate menu book! I love that they have extended hours for their Happy Hour. It definitely had some good deals. I tried a lot of their salmon dishes; highly recommend the salmon belly. It was definitely a favorite. Service was also great. Our server was very attentive, and like Japan, the food looked like the pictures! Our server also brought us presents from the kitchen, and we got to try their ice cream, meaning I was stuffed by the time I left. My family and I have been here about 4 times in the past month. Needless to say this is my favorite ayce sushi spot. They simply do everything right. Their service, top notch. Only 1 waitress but she was on top of things, courteous, and apologetic when she didn't need to be. I recently tried another ayce sushi spot and the service was the complete opposite there so this was a breath of fresh air. I mainly do nigiri and ordered the essential ayce. the salmon, yuzu yellowtail, albacore, fatty tuna, bluefin tuna, giant scallop, and fosh of they day are all exceptional and ordered several rounds. I got 4 kids and they love many of the appetizers. The fridge of several drinks and freezer full of ice cream/popsicles, etc are also a huge hit. I drank way too much soda but its just so great being able to grab what you want at your own leisure. I forgot to mention how well kept this place is in my last review. everything is clean including the bathroom. dare i say that the bathroom is the cleanest bathroom ive seen at any restaurant. If you are on the fence and craving quality sushi, dont sleep on this place! weekday prices are cheaper than many other atce sushi locations and this place gives all you can drink (non-alcoholic) and all you can eat dessert. Chef Kohei just opened his second location--Hanamaru Sushi--and it's a solid extension of what we already love at Huntington Ramen. Same menu, same vibe, same amazing staff, and same quality! We tried their all-you-can-eat option which is $39.99 on weekends and includes appetizers, nigiri, rolls, drinks, and dessert. We stuck with our usual favorites: garlic edamame, takoyaki, agedashi tofu, and soft shell crab. Everything came in smaller portions, which made it easier to try more without feeling overwhelmed. We got a bunch of nigiri, the negitoro handroll, the salmon skin handroll, and our go-to rolls: Mr. Craving, Spider, Tiger, and Divine Lava. We also tried all the carpaccios and chef's selections (one per person) which included scallops, halibut, mackerel, chu toro, and fatty tuna, all were so worth it. It's the same flavors and care we've come to expect from Chef Kohei, just in a bigger space with more flexibility to try a bit of everything. Came here with a group of 8 after spectating a pickleball tournament nearby--we were starving and this place hit the spot. It looks like they just opened recently and the vibe inside was modest but cozy, with cute umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. They were one chef down that night, so the service was a bit slower which they were super apologetic about it. Honestly, the staff made up for it with their kindness--our waitress was incredibly sweet and had such a great attitude. We really appreciated that. To make up for the delay, they even surprised us with an extra platter of premium sushi on the house, which was such a nice gesture. The sushi itself was fresh and and well worth the AYCE price (39.99 for the essentials). It's exactly what you'd hope for in a casual, all-you-can-eat sushi spot. New Sushi Restaurant in LH! We're notoriously skeptical of sushi in the area but this place does it all & it does it well. They're in the midst of a soft opening & getting their menu/ingredients sorted, so keep that in mind if you plan on coming in within the upcoming days. The place is quaint, clean, and quiet so far and the owner/staff were super warm and welcoming. They were able to help us navigate the menu and recommended some items to us. Here is what we ordered from both the regular and vegan menu: Vegan Golden California- Vegan California roll fried in tempura batter and topped with eel sauce & spicy mayo. Tasted like it was fried fresh and was served warm. Standard but great roll. Vegan Crispy Rice w/Spicy Tuna - Just like it sounds, fried rice topped with "tuna." Made fresh and tasted good. However, the "tuna" is the same base as the faux crabmeat so don't expect it to taste/look/feel even remotely similar to real tuna. As for my personal preference I would try another roll instead next time. Fried Vegan Gyoza: Surprising star of the night. It's so hard to find gyoza in sushi restaurants that don't taste like freezer burn or aren't fried in dirty oil. However, Hanamuru manages to avoid both of these faux pas. These gyoza had the perfect ratio of veggies to dough and were served piping hot! Couldn't really ask for more from an appetizer. Regular Menu: Garlic Crunch Rainbow Roll: Classic rainbow roll with assorted fish covered in a garlic chili crunch sauce. Fish was good quality and fresh. A staple roll done well with a simple twist. Crunchy Spicy Tuna Handroll: Another standout of the night. Flavorful fresh tasting tuna and a perfectly crispy shrimp tempura to accompany it. Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna: Topped with spicy tuna & a Jalapeño. Only for those who can handle the heat, but just as fresh and tasty as everything else. Pork Gyoza: Just like the vegan gyoza they had a great ratio and were perfectly crunchy. A must order for appetizer. Given the amount and quality of the food we found it to be very decently priced & would 100% recommend this place to anyone in the area. It's crucial to support independent businesses & as locals we're excited to see a new restaurant in La Habra with such a vast and evolving menu. So I have hit a few joints for AYCE sushi around LA. Quite a few are highly rated, but none have been at the level of Hamamaru. Solid selection and quality. Went with the signature level for the infinite Bluefin nigiri. This option included carpaccio (read sashimi- nice quality slices of fish but way thicker than carpaccio) , hand rolls (negitoro) and assortment of nigiri with a Omokase of 8 select pieces and amaebi. No beer but whatever sodas you want are included. Server was very pleasant and each table has a bell to summon someone if they don't come by- but it's small enough and they were quite attentive. Either way the food quality is amazingly good and I have not been disappointed yet. . We had a very disappointing experience here and felt like it was a bait and switch. I called the restaurant before coming to ask about the kids pricing for ayce and was told 5-10 year olds were half price. Arrived at the restaurant and indeed it stated this on the menu as well. The waitress asked my child's age, at first assuming he was 5, but I clarified that he was only 4 years old. She took our order and then came back shortly after stating that she was told the policy is that we'd have to pay half price for him too or order something for him a la carte. I asked why I wasn't told this when I called, why this wasnt mentioned when I first ordered and why the menu stated differently, and she couldn't give me a reason other than that's what she was told after going to the back. It felt like they didn't believe my child was truly 4 (and if so, just be upfront and we could've shown proof of his age). We decided to give them a chance anyway based on the good reviews and ordered the ayce essential menu and kids meal for my child. The nigiri was good but nothing mind blowing or better than the competition around. Rolls had too much rice and we couldn't do half orders to try out different rolls. The kids meal was not tasty so my son didn't even finish it. Gave them some stars for the hand rolls which were good but overall the quality of the food did not outweigh the negative first impression. If the child age limit has changed then please update all of your staff and change your menu accordingly or at least honor the info and menu price that was already given to the customer. read more

We did the Essential AYCE and everything was beyond amazing as we expected. The rolls are 4 pieces which is the best way to try different ones and see what you like. The sushi melts in your mouth even, the salmon is butter. The best you can find. We'll be back. Highly recommend the garlic edamame, spicy tuna on crispy rice and the Mr. Cravings roll. Stopped in for a late dinner. We were only ones there so we got exceptional service. Water cup never got empty. We got our food quickly and they were able to introduce the various fish/nigiri. The menu had a lot of items and since we couldn't decide on a specific roll, we decided on the AYCE option so we can try the nigiri, and although we weren't that hungry, we wanted to try a little of everything, and it was delicious. For ayce, they only give half a roll and you choose how many of each appetizer you want, which lets you try a lot of food! The service is great and the manager Tang is one of the nicest people on the planet. He is so friendly and often gives free little plates of things. All of the other staff is incredibly nice and helpful too! For menu, they have different versions of ayce and we did the essentials package which gives ayce access to an ice cream bar, drinks menu, and everything on the vegan menu and it was $35 per person. The place was very clean as well and they have a cool vibe inside. I have been there twice and they always have cartoons on and sports on to appeal to everyone. If you have been to Huntington Ramen and Sushi, this place has a very similar menu with just a few differences, but it is bigger so there has not been a rush to finish eating quickly at all. 10000/10 place and I would recommend for everyone!! read more
