It was our first time here. It was pretty slow for an early Sunday night dinner around 6. Nobody was there, but by the time we started eating, the place got packed. It's a small, quaint, unassuming place, but their kitchen cranks out rich flavors. We all got different things so we could try out what they have to offer. I was the only one brave enough to try the (bulgogi) mazemen, and it did not disappoint. I followed the instructions on the table & I liked it w/ the vinegar! Another person at our table got the donkatsu w/ rice; it was gobbled up pretty quick so I imagine it was delicious. The other 2 were in the mood for tonkatsu ramen - 1 got spicy, the other, plain. It looked like there was a lot of green onions for my taste, but they didn't complain. Another hit was the karagge chicken and gyoza - both came w/ tasty sauces! We stopped here around lunch time on a Sunday and were immediately seated. We definitely beat the rush though because shortly after, all the tables filled up. The service was great and our server was incredibly friendly! My husband got the bulgogi mazemen and thought it was flavorful. They do give rice at the end to help you soak up all the leftover flavors. I got the tofu veg mazeman and was incredibly surprised with how flavorful it was. It was so delicious. I did take the kale out of it because it seemed like it wouldn't fit the flavor profile and I think it was a good call. No additional sauces or additions are needed. The Michelin star is well DESERVED. The ramen bowl Mazera serves is incredible. The broth does not feel heavy nor does it taste greasy/oily like we've tried at other ramen bars. I enjoyed the donkatsu rice bowl, which was flavorful and perfect portion size for 1 person. For some bites before our dinner, we ordered gyoza (a classic side) and their viral veggie croquette that we paired with the donkatsu sauce. But I got food poisoning from here :( I think it was the poached (nearly raw) egg, because the toppings and sauce were great. I hope they are careful with the use of pasteurized eggs... next time I'll ask them to cook the egg longer... this place is so unique that I would give benefit of the doubt and return. I'm not a huge ramen person, but I have to say their Tonkotsu Ramen is pretty delicious. I wanted to try their dry mazemen bowls, but it was a cold night and I really wanted something soupy. They only have two kinds of soups on the menu: regular and spicy Tonkotsu. I like that they use skinny noodles and the broth was not thick and heavy. Spice level was perfect. The bowl was lacking protein with only two pieces of chasu, so I had to order an extra side of minced pork which was pretty good as well. Overall will come back. read more

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and we got seated right away which was great. But you definitely need to come on the right time because the seating is limited so the wait might take some time. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, which was okay. Personally, the broth was quite salty for my liking but the noodles were chewy and cooked very well. A quaint mazemen store with limited seating in a small strip mall with limited parking. Our party was seated immediately around 1pm on a Saturday. Waitress was patient and attentive. After reading the reviews, most of us opted for the mazemen. The portions were surprisingly large, and overall the dish felt rich, but somehow the flavor was a little lacking to me. The chashu was also on the dry side, and I ended up not eating it. There was a child in our group that insisted on the traditional ramen. When he wasn't eating it, we all tried it and found that it was strangely sweet, definitely not the flavor we would expect from simmering pork bones. The side dishes were the star of the show for me, personally. Karaage was fried to perfection, cripsy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The person helping us was super helpful explaining everything to us like what mazemen and how to pronounce it cause I forsure butchered it. I had ordered the FRIED OYSTERS, which I think is a good starters, was a good balance of umami. Then I had gotten the ORIGINAL MAZEMEN w/ an extra poached egg. But man was it good. It was ramen in a hardy stew but with the egg yolk into it, delicious. Pricing is on par with other ramen places. There are not too many good ramen places in the immediate area ( I guess you could say Silverlake), but I feel this is the best around. Parking is usually tight at this place, but there is parking the rear. That would be my only deterrent of coming here ( I have a Sprinter van). This is not a soupy noodle dish but more like a pasty with a ton of flavor. It reminded Umemura and Luscious Dumplings dry noodle dishes. It was like Dan Dan noodles. We ordered the dry ramen , we ordered 2 no. 2, 2 - no. 1 and 1- no 3. The first 2 are pork and the no. 3 is a bulgogi. The service is really good too, you know it's authentic when you see who cooks and serves the food. He knows the menu well. I always ask them( restaurants that i visit for the first time) for their personal favorite and he was able to tell us everything on the menu and of course his personal favorite. this is a new, small korean japanese mazemen shop in la habra. it has very casual vibes and the staff were friendly and attentive. its in a small strip filled with other restaurants and shops, so parking can fill up a bit but there usually will be a few spots open at any given time. Chashu Mazemen this restaurant definitely has more korean influence and i could taste it in each dish. the noodles in this mazemen were really chewy, similar to jjajangmyun noodles, and the sauce was fairly neutral and could've had some more flavor. overall it was enjoyable! This is just what you want in a hidden gem restaurant. Your server is also the cashier and in charge of quality control. The food is unique. This is the first time I tried mazumen, the menu is easy to understand. There's even a picture of each dish in case you're confused. At the table are six easy steps showing how to enjoy your dish. After 10 minutes or so our bowls came out and they looked perfect. We mixed them up as instructed and ate them. When we were getting near the bottom of our bowls, two half cup servings of perfect white rice appeared on our table. These are meant to absorb the excess juice so that you can finish every last delicious drop. I think I made the mistake of ordering the traditional ramen. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. It's okay. The noodles were perfectly tender and the broth was rich. This place serves several variations of mazemen (brothless ramen) but I think Original Mazemen is the way to go. It comes with spicy minced pork, poached egg, green onions, chives, seaweed, garlic, and fish powder. Flavor isn't quite as strong as places like MoguMogu, but I also don't get as much of an MSG attack either. I tried the Bulgogi Mazemen and Tonkotsu Ramen as well, but they weren't as good as the Original. The Tonkotsu Ramen tasted weird so I never ordered it again on my repeat visits. Service was friendly but the staff can do a better job in explaining how to eat mazemen for first time customers.
