You get 20 min on the submarine, which i thought was plenty. We spent the rest of the time snorkeling and it was a great time. Cruising in the ocean surrounded by tropical fish was already unreal, but we got really lucky and saw a bunch of sea turtles too. Such an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The crew was amazing--friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel safe the entire time. If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Hawaii, I can't recommend this enough.

We are total beginners, and while I am not a…read morestrong swimmer or super experienced with the ocean, my fiancée grew up near the beach and was excited to learn to surf. At 8:15 in the morning we marched up Waikiki beach to a spot away from a lot of the tourists with somewhat shallow reef waters. These waters had almost constant waves. Before we got in, Massimo chatted with us and explained all the fundamentals of surfing. We practiced some poses, popping-up, and how things were going to work once we were in the water. Massimo marched us out on a stone pier and helped us every step of the way out into the water. Some surf instructors keep students close to the shore where the waves are breaking lightly and they can't go far. That's not Massimo's style. He takes you out into reaf waters where the waves can push you far. He makes sure you are comfortable and as safe as possible (surfing is inherently dangerous) the whole time. My fiancée had a blast and even started popping up and trying to really ride the waves. I was very impressed with how quickly she got it under Massimo's guidance. Admittedly, I am a little heavier and less flexible, but I still rode some waves on my stomach on the board, and even rode a wave almost all the way back to shore. Be ready for a work-out, but it's totally worth it with Massimo's surf lessons!

Our tour guide, Ian was excellent!! As some would say BOMB.COM! He was very knowledgeable about all the stories and history associated with the different places that he took us to from beginning to the end. I believe there were approximately 8 of us in the bus. Ian easily connected with everyone and made an effort to get to know us a little more. He is definitely a "people person ". We also didn't know that he also had photography skills as well. He took a picture of me and my Husband at one of the parks. How creative of him! We surely loved that picture and we will always remember him. The tour ride was definitely not boring but very exciting and enjoyable. Ian was definitely key in making us feel welcomed and ensured that we had fun. As the tour came to an end, we were sad as we didn't want the fun to end. We all had such a wonderful time and a very memorable one at that. If you are carrying a lot of stuff for $2.50 (as many rides as you need) it is well worth it. No drinks or food for sale at bottom of bay. The bay itself does not have a lot of fish to explore. The sun HOT! no real shaded areas. Winds can be high. Food expensive and just okay. Bring your own.

Shane and Neil were wonderful instructors, and they made us feel very comfortable. My son rode with Shane, and stood on the board with his assistance. It meant the world to me that he tried something new and enjoyed every moment. Neil was my instructor. The main deep water cruise terminal at Honolulu Harbor, Pier 2 is the primary terminal with Pier 11…read morebeing the alternate. It has no ship bridge, instead expecting ships to offboard their passengers using their lowest deck, which in our case was Deck 0. Once outside, one walks into the main warehouse building, which is quite large but pretty vacant. On this day, there was one vendor selling shirts and some chairs set-up facing a makeshift stage. Unlike the other cruise ports in the Hawaiian Islands, the port at Honolulu handles both embarkations and debarkation (assuming for the NCL Pride of America which starts/stops at this port). This means the building can handle a lot of people queuing at once. Once you cross over through the building, you exit out into what resembles an airport terminal setup. Taxis, ride shares, personal cars, and tour buses all use one of two lanes to do this. On this day, the chaos was well managed by the traffic officers on duty. We were able to call for a Lyft that came within 10 minutes, with easy dual identification. Taking a Lyft to nearby Waikiki Beach took about 15 minutes, costing a little over $20. One can also exit the secure port on foot, with the Hawaiian Capitol building within walking distance (less than a mile away). This also means that the Royal Palace (Iolani Palace) is close by. It wasn't crowded at all for a Friday afternoon, where we walked, though traffic started to pick up as government workers started to leave for the weekend. Government photo ID was needed to get back into the terminal, as security checked the names to crosscheck against our ship cards.
