My best friend and I booked this excursion for the second day of our trip, and it was amazing! Drinks and food were delicious! Usually I can't eat or won't eat the food they serve on these activities, but my Turkey sandwich was great. In fact, I enjoyed the trip so much, we went back 2 days later and brought 4 friends. I can't say enough about the captain, Kamiko. On both trips her crew provided outstanding service. I'm pretty sure it's because of her that everyone worked so well together. And when I needed to add 2 more people last minute, Eric who runs Hanauma Bay Tours helped us out even though he was headed to church. Obviously I can't recommend this tour enough. I would say 2.5 Stars We were squeezed in last minute on the snorkel tour and were very thankful, but it seemed Robin was a little unsure of the details and had to call me back ( very friendly though ) . Eric called me back and was very friendly and helpful. We got great snorkeling direction in our way to the bay from our driver, we were excited. Had a great time snorkeling , besides the fact that my fiancé couldn't get a tight seal around his goggles for some reason, but we tried to make due and spent an hour snorkeling. WEAR SUNSCREEN! You will thank me later! I hardly burn but boy was I red when I got home! Only down fall was that the driver (Carl) forgot us and left us at the bay! I had to call him and let him know he was missing two passengers in his tour!! Super frustrating, plus we had to wait for him to turn around, and we didn't even get a 'sorry..' More of a brush off. Went with two friends and we had so much fun! Captain Matt, Matt, and Shannon were so incredible and helpful. Snorkeling was cool and we saw 3 turtles and a ton of cool fish. The drinks are 3 complimentary and then $5 after and were delish! They even had specialty cocktails called the Mermaid and the Pirate which was cute. I felt safe the whole time and wanted it to be longer. Our driver was on time to pick us up and even agreed to drop us off at La Mariana tiki bar after. First and foremost, everyone was so nice, from booking to the actual tour. The crew of our boat were knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. We were able to watch a momma whale teaching her baby how to breach and flap their tails. We actually had an excellent driver, Michael, for this experience. He picked us up on time and on the ride to the bay he chatted with us. I had many questions about the island and what kind of experiences he would recommend. He was very knowledgeable and kind to share his ideas. When we arrived at the bay parking lot he helped us with our flippers and snorkels and at that point we also had an opportunity to rent a few more things like lifevests, beach umbrellas, etc. Michael explained how everything would work at the bay. We booked the Hanauma Bay and North Shore tour a day in advance and were greeted by the friendliest guy that next morning. Bon Jovy is one of the most jovial and laid back people I have had the pleasure of running into. We did a ton of things through the day (cliff jumped, snorkeled, paddle boarded, chillaxed) and although I'd usually be wiped out, the chats my wife and I had with Bon Jovy throughout the day kept us fully fueled up. If you are looking to book a tour, be sure to ask for Bon Jovy; good times are assured. We called less than 24 hours prior to our tour and was able to get the last 2 slots for 10:20am the next day. We were picked up just right across the street from our hotel, (pacific monarch) and a van came to get us within 20 minutes (they were running a little later than 10:20, but that was ok.) we sat at the very last row of the van with 4 other people so it was difficult to hear our driver's name.. I think it was Sam through Snorkelfest, so you may want to look up Snorkelfest on yelp too. Sam was super funny and friendly and went through rules, guidelines, and tips with us on the way to Hanauma Bay. Without 20 minutes, we were dropped off at the bay with knowledge on how to use our snorkel gear and the time and place Sam would pick us up. He recommended us to stick together like a family and watch out for each other while in the water, which I thought was an amazing tip. My BF and I ended up snorkeling with our van crew all day which made us feel safe and made it more fun to do. We did the standard snorkeling tour which was 2 hours of snorkeling for $22.00 (what a steal!) It is notable to mention that there is a $7.50 dollar admission fee into the bay and also a 9 minute instructional video that is mandated before you head down to the bay. There is a tram that takes you up and down the small hill to the bay. We walked up and down both ways it wasn't that bad, plus there's always a long time for people that don't want to walk back up after snorkeling. It costs only $1-1.25 so not bad at all for that option. This trip was probably my favorite activity! A must go for all visitors to Oahu! Thank you Hanauma Bay and Snorkelfest! read more

I did this tour yesterday. Our guide was Serg, and our driver was Paul. They were both great. No issues picking up or dropping off from/to my hotel. We started by going up to the North Shore to see the Pipeline and look at the Volcom surfer house. {If you didn't want to do this and then go swim/ jump off a rock later, they offered an alternative option for $16 (I think) to go hiking and see waterfalls with a separate company (a few in our group chose this option instead of seeing the North Shore- we dropped them off and picked them up later)}. Once at the North Shore, Serg will fill you in on all things surfing- he is very passionate and knowledgeable about this sport and lifestyle. He'll then take you to a spot you can climb a rock and jump off it (15 or 30 feet) into the water below. He was pretty good about explaining how to stay safe. We had lunch at a little farm where if you picked the premium package you could SUP (stand up paddle board) or kayak. There was a selection of Coconut Shrimp, Teriyaki chicken (my pick- it was good), a vegetarian noodle option, pork, and garlic shrimp. Serg also offered PB&J, or a tuna sandwich. You can bring your own lunch as well if you don't want to pay for this, but once on the tour, these are the only options. The portions are large and filling - they come with a side of rice, a small pineapple chunk, and a small scoop of salad. You can pay extra for shaved ice. Afterwards, you start the SUP or kayaking down a 1-mi stretch of calm water. While Serg was out on the water helping, Paul made sure to take pictures from land of everyone participating which I thought was really nice. [A side note that was pretty funny- a premium luxury Hawaii tour group was at the same place eating lunch- made me think that they paid 2x more (or more) for the exact same services- not to mention, we had both Paul and Serg helping out while they only had one guy for a much larger group.] We then went to the Dole Pineapple plantation. It's basically a giant gift shop and while the Dole Whip was good, I was glad that we didn't spend too much more time there. You get to see pineapple plants in the back garden which is neat. They don't grow on trees! Last but definitely not least was Hanauma Bay. A note about transportation: the ride you're in all day can really make or break the tour you take. The bus we spent hours in was air conditioned and standard seating, but comfy. We had a smaller tour group which I'm not sure will always be the case, but the bus didn't smell or anything. Once you get to Hanauma Bay, it seems like no matter the tour you take, you must switch to smaller vehicles. I read beforehand another review with another company wherein the tour all got squished into a small smelly car so I was bracing myself for that to happen here, thinking "it's only a short distance, it'll be fine". Well- North Shore tour bus had *limos* come pick us up! Definitely way better than I was expecting, so roomy, and I felt a little luxurious haha. Anyway, Hanauma Bay was great. I only saw fish- no turtles, eels, seals, etc but it was still really cool. I had an amazing time, I'm so glad I picked this company. I always check reviews beforehand but you never really know how things will turn out. I feel very lucky. Serg kept us entertained the whole time with his knowledge of local agriculture, Hawaiian legends, surfing expertise, and enthusiasm. It's obvious he genuinely loves his job. read more

We did our North Shore Tour & Hanauma Bay Snorkeling on 8/20/2018. My wife and I started the day w/Paul picking us up at our hotel in Waikiki via van (apparently the first individuals to be picked up were late). I thought that was awesome of them to not leave (even though it inconvenienced us a bit, but no worries!) even though people showed up late to their pickup location/time. Paul later took us and another group to our tour bus. Dirk was our guide and he was awesome... nice and funny guy. He also ensured that whenever we left a location, that no one left their belongings behind. One person in our group needed some extra help on their way back paddle boarding... I thought it was pretty cool that Dirk went out of his way to assist the person (I believe she had fallen into the water). I was a little bit iffy about doing a tour, but overall it was an amazing experience! read more

This was our first time visiting Hanauma Bay and I would definitely use Hanauma Bay Tours again on my next visit. We were picked up at our hotel right on time by James (fun & great driver), quickly & easily got our gear at their store, enjoyed the sunrise while we waited in their comfortable van for the gates of the bay to open, and got right in with zero stress! In addition to their snorkeling gear, I would definitely rent their chairs & umbrella again as they were all very light to carry and made our day at Hanauma Bay more comfortable (we had a downpour of rain for about 10 minutes and used the umbrella to escape the drops). When it was time to leave, we were picked up again right on time and taken quickly back to our hotel. James had great information to share all about Hawaii on the way to and back from the bay. Felt very comfortable with his driving. Can't wait to go on their tour again! Visiting Hanamua Bay and snorkeling with all the beautiful fish was an amazing experience! read more

We took the north shore and hamona bay tour Pros: SERG!!!! The tour guide made the trip itself!! He was amazing and loves his job and with that you get the positive energy, information and experience you want in an all-day tour (9hrs) The views !!! You will get amazing wallpaper looking views and SERG was more then happy to take pictures of us to make sure we were in of them !! The group was small . Idk if it is like this in all groups but it was perfect to move around and get to know everyone and stick together You go to so many places in those 9 hrs that you wouldn't have done on your own ever! Cons: The trip was actually to short ! We were rushed in a couple of places because we had to move on to make sure we got to do everything Our day and time for snorkeling was a bust !!! This was my first time snorkeling. I had a great time. Our tour driver, David, was very informative and had a good personality. The snorkeling equipment was in good condition and double checked to be sure it was sanitized. The goggles tend to fog up after a few minutes. The additional $3 valve is essential so you don't get salt water down the tube and in your throat. We also had a conversation the owner, Florin. He was friendly and we had a good conversation. I saw a lot of beautiful fish and I recommend you bring a water camera. There is plenty to explore. read more

They were late by 40 minutes in picking us up There were no phone notifications, we had to call the company to inquire. We were told they had to take the previous client they picked up to get their camera. Well, this was a huge disservice to clients whom they have not picked up. We were standing in 90 degrees heat, smelling bus exhaust and nowhere to sit. When the driver arrived, he didn't apologize for being 40 minutes late. Also, the driver tailgates and often stepped on the brakes really hard. This was very uncomfortable for us sitting in the back row of the van. We travel to many parts of the world and we know good and bad service but this kind of service is not acceptable, especially in Hawaii. read more

Great ride there and great snorkeling but where I was disappointed was the ride back. We got on the bus at the meeting point and comfortable. Then our driver took us to the local mall and transferred us to the same size van but a lot more crowded. Every seat was full. It was hot and the ac didn't reach all the way to the back. Booked the "Ko Olina Ocean Adventure" to swim with the dolphins. Saw and experienced all that we were promised and then some. Caught a double clearly visible rainbow, saw manta rays, and even a few sea turtles. My suggestion is to buy the fish food if you plan on having a lot of great pictures/gopro recordings. Had a blast and highly recommend the after tour meal package. Would do this tour again. read more

Why drive to Hanauma and deal with parking fees, the parking lot and risk not being able to find parking? It was super easy and convenient to book a trip on a Saturday to get to Hanauma Bay with this company. The driver was friendly and on-time. He gave us really great tips for how to avoid drift currents, where to easily get out the furthest towards the breakers as we were more experienced swimmers/snorkelers and wanted a challenge, the best spot to set up our towels, how to protect our belongings on the beach, etc. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the dispatcher messed up one of the reservations with another customer and the driver had to turn around and go all the way back through Waikiki to the mall in order to pick up the 2 passengers that he said he should have grabbed first. Seems like there are still some kinks with their pick-ups and drop-offs - didn't make our trip particularly inconvenient though as we weren't in a rush, it's Hawaiian time and we're on vacation! read more

The positives: Hanauna Bay is gorgeous and would recommend the Bay to anyone. Great place to snorkel with a significant other or family. I took my fiancée. The negatives: The reason for my negative rating is customer service and safety, which are definitely extremely important. Our driver yelled at us, was extremely belligerent, condescending, and unsafe. He picked us up in the middle of a busy street and dropped us off on that same busy intersection where we felt uncomfortable entering and exiting the van in that manner. We could have easily been hit by a fast moving vehicle heading down the busy street. The driver could have easily pulled into our hotel driveway, but nope he choose the very negligent path. Safety to me is the most important thing and if my fiancée had been hit due to this negligence I would have devastated. I have read other reviews of this tour, I'm sure there are great drivers out there with this company, but I can only speak for the driver I had. He should fired. Use another tour or form of transportation to get over there to Hanauma Bay. Some day this driver will cause extreme harm, please be safe. Hawaii is such an amazing destination, don't bother taking a chance with your loved ones. read more

What an awesome day... took a tour with North Shore Beach Bus through Hanauma Bay Tours, and I've never experienced a tour like this before. We laughed; interacted with each other; saw beautiful scenery, stopped at a bunch of cool places, ate a great lunch and even got a little educated. Our tour guide Bo.... in one word "Damn!!!!" I will start off by saying this is not the right choice for beginners or kids. We spent an hour and a half looking for Dolphins and when we found some they make you jump off the boat by yelling at you and jumping all on top of one another. I understand the Dolphins swim by and you need to hurry but c'mon. The waters are choppy and there was no guidance of what to do and since there are so many in the circle you may catch a glimpse of dolphins. You mostly see peoples flippers and bottoms. A ton of us got sick on the boat. So you're looking around at everyone throwing up in buckets. We spent a total of 9 minutes in the water which the majority of the time is spent taking your flippers off to climb back on the boat. I was so sick I couldn't do the second jump to see a couple turtles and some fish which they spent maybe 15 minutes in the water bc we had to head back to shore. The majority of our time was driving around on the boat. Everyone was so tired and sick by the end. They are better ways to spend $300+ dollars. It was an experience, and unfortunately we would never do this again. read more

These tours were great! We booked a tour to Pearl Harbor and a North Shore/Hanamau Bay tour. Both tours had excellent guides who were very knowledgeable and entertaining. They gave us great information on the places we visited, including history, culture, and their recommendations of things to do/see/try. Pick-up and drop-off were very timely. Prices were comparable to others, but I loved the great service we got. They sent reminders and tips on what to bring/not bring. They were accommodating of our large group (16 of us!). read more

We had our tour today, but unfortunately we were booked onto the wrong tour - the tour bus that we were on did the Hanauma Bay snorkelling, but we booked in for the North Shore snorkelling tour, specifically because we wanted to view the turtles on turtle beach and we'd been told that snorkelling on the North Shore was where we'd be most likely to view sea turtles. We brought up with our guide that the itinerary did not match what we'd booked, but unfortunately there was not much that could be done since everyone else on the bus was booked for the Hanauma Bay tour. Our guide and driver were great, but it's very disappointing to be put on a tour that we did not book. I tried twice to contact the company about this, but they have been ignoring my emails.
