Tucked in the Korean Plaza by the Gwinnett Place Mall next to Chef Wong's sits a new traditional Korean comfort food joint called Hanbat So let's start with the particulars Ambiance: it's classic Korean stylized interior. Wood finishes mimicking a traditional Korean restaurant. The place seats roughly 120 people or so and it has warm cozy lighting Service: it's below average. Not great in terms of attentiveness since they didn't offer much in terms of refills of water or a status check in Food: I had the kalbi tang which is beef short rib soup. I think they specialize in the Korean comfort broth as they had all of the traditional hangover type rice soups from Yoo-Ggae-Jjang which is a spicy beef broth with tenderized flank steak, sprouts, and fern fronds to the Ugoji Tang with is soup made of tendon and cannot forget the SoellungTang, a popular beef bone broth with rice noodles and Ggori-Gom-Tang which is oxtail soup. All looked exception The kalbi tang broth is cooked to a lightness yet has a rich flavor to it. The beef is pull apart tender! Flavorful and rich. The broth to rice ratio favors the broth to be sure so you can't get a decent spoonful but for what it's worth, each bite is sumptuous and all around comfort food worthy. Can't talk about this place without mentioning the kimchi. They ONLY serve cabbage and radish kimchi and the way they serve it is vastly unconventional. First off, the radish kimchi isn't in the typical cube fashion. They serve it in little planks which is new for me to see and let me tell you, I enjoyed the way they prepped this. The radish kimchi is aged and fermented properly which provided such a fantastic offset that cut through the rich broth. The cabbage kimchi was also phenomenal! It didn't quite reach peak fermentation, it almost seemed like they finished prepping it two days prior to serving which is still in process of fermenting which has that still pre-fermented flavor which is great for eating such rich fatty broths that this place offers. Kalbi Tang sits at a $20 a bowl price point so it's relatively expensive all things considered but for what it's worth, between tax and tip, you're looking at a $27 lunch or dinner but you are getting a great product Definitely recommend! read more

Came for dinner and we were seated quickly. We place our orders and we got a variety of soups and some items to share such as the seafood pancake and the spicy pork. The pancake was filled with seafood and came w a dipping sauce but it wasn't crispy enough. I got the kalguksu and I would say the soup wasn't very flavorful. I had an add a lot salt. Someone in our group got a gabli tang and honestly some of the meat wasn't very fresh as it had a stench to it. The service was okay, we did have to click on the button for refills and such. Nice chill spot to go by yourself or to meet a friend for a quick lunch or dinner. What stuck with me the most was the flavor of their kimchi and radish kimchi. Paired with ox tail soup I ordered, it complemented the soup nicely. The ambiance was quiet and seemed to be kept clean. The servers were friendly and checked up on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed without making us feel like they were hovering over us. I came in on a weekday night and the restaurant was pretty empty. The space is large with plenty of seating. I ordered the seollongtang and the seafood pancake and they also serve two types of kimchi as side dishes. The kimchi was fresh but a bit bland. The seollongtang broth was rich and flavorful, with a good amount of meat. The seafood pancake was large but a bit soggy for my preference - I usually like it crispier. I can't say much about the service, as the servers seemed busy socializing as it was slow. We had to flag them down when we needed something. They might be more attentive on busier days. We love their food and kimchi here! Its been our goto quick Korean food spot to grab some food. My husband loves getting the Seolleongtang that's clean but has lot of depth. Some of my favs are Naengmyeon when I want something cold or Kal-guksu when I want something warm. The noodle textures are great and made in the house! TLDR: 4.5/5 very tender kalbitang, flavorful and clean soup. Kimchi was fresh and really good. Came here for a large group meal and was in the mood for soup. The kalbitang looked and tasted very clean, with the beef itself falling off the bone and wasn't dry at all. Star of the show was the kimchi which was less fermented than most places but was very well seasoned. Complimentary barley tea as most Korean places do. We also ordered their handmade dumplings that come with 6 pieces which you can ask for half and half with their beef and kimchi if you want a mix of spicy and non-spicy. Both flavors so good! Service was okay. Food came out pretty quickly, but we had to ask for water multiple times and we ended up getting water after the food came out. This restaurant, formerly known as Sam's 수산시장, has been radically transformed into a Korean traditional restaurant, so we were curious to visit for the first time. The space itself felt lively and energetic, filled with both customers and servers moving about, which gave the restaurant a vibrant atmosphere. We were seated in a more private room for the four of us, which we appreciated for conversation and comfort. We ordered the 만두전골, which we enjoyed overall. The dish was comforting and satisfying;However, the dining experience was unfortunately diminished by inconsistent service. At one point, the waitress did not respond to our questions at all. While it's understandable that a server may not always have an immediate answer, not responding felt discourteous. One of our friends, who asked the question, felt particularly upset because it seemed as though his concern was simply ignored. Although another waiter later tried to make up for the situation, the service left much to be desired. In addition, we felt that the food was somewhat overpriced for the overall experience. Given the intense and competitive nature of the restaurant industry today, service quality plays a crucial role in whether customers return. With some improvements in staff responsiveness and a slight adjustment in pricing, this restaurant could position itself more strongly. The broth was good but I didn't bother tasting the ingredients b/c I'm not a fan of beef intestines and beef tripe, lol. Overall great spot for Korean food esp. if you love meat soups and stews. I'm not sure where to start... I visited on a whim, and I'm glad I did. The interior didn't leave much of an impression: lots of wood and spacious. It was clean though. The service was friendly, the food came out pretty quick too. Even if the food took a while, it wouldn't really matter because the food would be good. We got the gopchang jeongol (beef tripe hot pot), which can feed 2-4 depending on how much a person eats, mul naengmyeon (cold noodles) with LA Galbi, and dolsot bibimbap (stone pot mixed rice). All very delicious and something I would order again. I especially liked the mul naengmyun here because of the amount of sliced pears. It added a sweetness and crunch to the broth along with the cucumbers that I found very enjoyable. So much so that out of everything, I forgot to take a photo of it! It was very refreshing and bright (add vinegar and/or mustard to liking), and it felt like I ordered extra noodles when I didn't. I can find no faults. The kimchi here is also very fresh! Went to try this out because it was calling me and it did not disappoint at all. Staff there reminds me of the Ajumma's in Seoul very friendly but very little English :-) Their Kimchi is amazing....it was so flavorful that this is something you have to try...but be warned it has a kick! I am trying out item by item but so far everyone has been super delicious. The beef stock is great, the tendon and cow foot stews are awesome. My favorite is the spicy beef intestine one....well might be too early to say favorite because every dish I had I loved. Definitely a spot to try if you like odd stuff or even normal stuff but just keep an open mind and let your tastebuds take a tour. read more

I ate here with my wife and friend and had a great time. Very friendly waitstaff, and very nice ambiance. The room reminds me of an old tea lodge, and as my Korean friend described, is pre-Japanese colonial in styling. We ordered the Yukhoe (essentially beef tartar) which came marinaded and with Korean pear, and the galbi tang which was good. The absolute highlight of the meal was the kimchi though. They might have the best soup in Atlanta. The broth for their seollangtang and gori gomtang (ox tail soup) is sooooooo good. Normally, you'd have to add salt to get the flavor to where you'd like, but I think the broth is perfect the way it comes out. Galbitang is legit good as well.
