Not sure what took me so long to give a review of this gem of a place but better late than never…read more I've come to 1 of 1 a few times so far and it's safe to say I've tried most things on the menu. Real fresh, quality, homemade ingredients mixed in with passion and love for food with delightful twists on memorable sandwiches. Bread is fantastic and so are the awesome drinks to go with your meal. Some of my favorites are the chicken Caesar sandwich, No Sleep till Gravesend, Kitchen Confidential and Grilled Cheese and in the winter, a delicious tomato soup. They also have breakfast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and you don't want to pass up the yummy Brioche rolls the delicious combos go on. Place is small but a few tables are nice and it's always great on the go. Staff is great and Josh is curating this really authentic spot. Keep it up everyone!

I see a lot of patrons working in laptops, some meeting up to talk and sip and even the barista chatted with a local patron. Love it! My chai was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chai was frothy, rich, the black tea leaves infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, sweetener, and milk. I savored every sip and complimented the barista. It is always great to find a new coffee place. I expect to be a loyal local at Velvette Brew. They also host music events and have a collaboration with Cry Baby Ice Cream. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They tried to over charge me last week when I ordered 2 pho to-go. First of all, expensive pho and nothing comes hot and ready to eat but the soup. You must cook the pho yourself. Luckily my office has a stove. Secondly, I asked if they used MSG on the pho as I'm very allergic to MSG, and was told a cold rude "NO". After a few bites I started to get allergic reactions from MSG, had to go to the Emergency Room. Of course the food is going to taste good with MSG, even if the meat was rotten. Thirdly, I gave the cashier 2 $20 bills for 2 pho since it came out to be a little over $20, she gave me $6 back. I told her that I gave her $40, she said something in chinese then slammed the rest of my change on the counter. So you did intent to steal my change, didn't you? i'm just wondering, where are all of you people from that complain about a $7 sandwich.......you know it's 2009, right? and you live in brooklyn? and the sandwiches are unbelievably delicious? you know all this and still you complain? Jen R. sounds like she wouldn't know an overpriced sandwich if it sat on her face. i recently heard from a realestate friend that their rent is $7000. i love their place on bergen street, but it's tiny and their rent is less and they can afford to charge less. this all seems like obvious common sense stuff to me. as far as the food goes, i have never been disappointed by their food. my lunch staple is the tofu sandwich and shrimp roll. the pickled carrots in the sandwich, mixed w/ the warm tofu, sliced jalapenos and chewy bread....it's heaven. i have held back a star because it does take a couple extra minutes to get a sandwich, but it's such a ridiculously good sandwich! read more

I'm a veggie for the most part so I'd heard wonderful things about the Bahn Mi but thought I could never try one. I passed Hanco's one day and wanted to try the bubble tea (which is excellent- the Honeydew milk tea is amazing!) and saw that they had a tofu option! So i gleefully ordered one and it was one of the most blissful eating experiences I've had. The mixture of texture from the warms crusty bread to the crisp, sour/sweet slaw, spicy sauce and delicious tofu is one I've returned for often!. And I see they've now started carrying a veggie pork version- have to go check that out. If it's anything like what they've got so far, I'm in for a treat. I will allow that the bubble tea might be a bit pricey- im really not sure why bubble tea costs so much- but its not that much higher than other places so i guess not so bad. read more

Went here yesterday with my friend for sandwiches and boba. Was extremely good. I got the shredded chicken sandwich & mango bubble tea. They don't skimp on the teas - good sized servings. As far as the sandwich goes: the ingredients were super fresh and the bread was the perfect mix of crunchy and chewy. Sandwich construction was excellent - no falling parts. Compact. The chicken was cooked perfectly- super juicy without sacrificing a solid texture. The sandwich was dripping with sauce. The employees here are also super fresh and well dressed AKA "dripping with sauce" if you are at all concerned with the aesthetics and perceivable cleanliness of the people serving you. If you are in Park Slope this is an ideal place to grab a quick bite with a friend. read more
