I am so glad that there is a location near me. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a sweet treat. My favorite flavor is banana cream pie. I will admit location is in the cut across from the Harkins Movie theater but directly next door to the Farmers Boy. So parking is frustrating at times. But its soo WORTH IT. Especially when the person scooping the ice cream makes sure, you get to experience the whole flavor with cookies and everything. Took my daughter, husband and grandson this weekend for ice cream. AGAIN MY PINK LEMONADE WAS THERE ON THE FLAVOR OF THE MONTH. Oh yessss plz I don't mind a scoop of that lushest puckerness. I also tried the peach flavor of the month, it was very good loved the pieces of peaches that were hiding in there. My daughter got the coffee chocolate chip that I just had to try. My goodness WOWZERS.... If you forgot to have your morning cup of coffee don't trip, head over to handles for this ice cream. It was like drinking a premium cup of ice cold espresso. That was soooo good. And I just want to give a quick shout out to all the employees there at this location. Every time we have gone you all have a smile on your face and don't rush anyone when they're trying to fight their tastebuds on what to order. Also just a small request..... if and when you guys plan on taking pink lemonade off your menu, can you plz make an announcement that is going to leave. So the ice cream is always great & I am very happy that Handles is expanding and is moving its way more inland. We're from Oceanside & they are everywhere in Carlsbad so we have always enjoyed handles. However, I gave this one 4 stars instead of 5 because staff was not happy. I don't know if there is something in the wind but it seems almost all these stores & restaurants opening up over here are making the staff working unhappy? I understand that no one wants to work for low wages but when you're a teen working a first job, we all gotta start somewhere. Especially summer jobs. There is no ambiance really because it is a window service location, but still the area around if great especially when there is live music. read more

Pretty banging spot!! That black cherry ice cream is the best I've ever had. The coffee chocolate chip was good but it was pretty sweet and very melty. I had to eat it too fast because it was melting all over and making a mess. Despite the long line and mediocre service.. I'd go back just for that black cherry. Also, there is no indoor seating, there's one set of chairs and a table right out front but there is seating all around mountain grove. read more

It is August and its hot: so its ice cream time. So we went to Handel's in Redlands' Mountain Grove. Their ice cream is made fresh daily and on location. The flavors, richness, the creaminess and COLD were all in our ice cream. (A big word of warning: there isn't any indoor seating! So plan accordingly on a hot day.) As you can see from my pic of the menu boards, we didn't have to search far. I don't think you can go wrong with any selection. Also you can use their QR code for more options (BTW, you can use your cell phone to access the QR code from lap top computer screen, as seen from my pic). Super excited to see a Handel's in town! I loved visiting it in San Diego so having one up here is awesome. The servers were friendly and the line moved quickly. We are big fans on Handels! We've been to many locations. We arrived to a long line but we were served quickly. The girl that helped us was super nice and recommended a cup with a cone on top since the ice cream was soft. I got the salty caramel truffle and it was sooo good. Had a craving for something sweet after attending a concert one night. We just happened to be in the vicinity and found this place after searching on Yelp. It was a great find. Never even heard of Handel's Homemade ice cream until this particular night. We pulled up just in the nic of time because they were already shutting down. The kid at the window still let us order some screams in some waffle cones. We ordered Rocky road and the Carmel pretzel crunch and they were both creamy and satisfying. My partner had said it was the best Rocky road she's ever eaten. Couldn't of been a better choice coming here for a "night-cap". There is a big patio where you can eat and since it was late at night there was ample seating except for some people probably coming out from the nearby movie theater. Gonna look this place up in our hometown when we get back in Az. read more

***WARNING: CONTROVERSIAL REVIEW *** We first heard of Handel's when my cousin noticed we missed their grand opening. To make up for it, we visited soon afterwards. The line was quite long but moved fairly quickly. The cashier was very helpful and let us have unlimited samples since we couldn't decide between fruity flavors (mango, cherry, banana) versus interesting flavors (graham central station, pumpkin pie). So why the three stars? There is something about the texture that I cannot overlook. The texture is a blend of soft-serve ice cream and traditional creamy ice cream. The end result is a xantham-gummy texture. The flavor is on point but the texture is not desirable. read more

If you want to try this place without a wait, go on a weekday, otherwise, waiting in a 10-15minute line is not bad at all! I got a banana split with graham central station, oreo cheesecake, and banana cream pie. The banana split was good. The ice cream was kind of soft, but all the add ons worked well! I know this is a new spot, so the workers had a hard time answering some of my questions. Grand opening was fun to attend, although so hot ice cream melted fast and was dripping everywhere! They had a wheel to spin, but you could only spin after purchasing something, and the girls there did not look friendly... you would think if you choose a time to smile, it's during a grand opening! DJ was spinning what sounded like top hits of the 90s which was a fun 'blast to the past' and helped while hanging out in the heat! Actual girls that served ice cream were pleasant enough but seemed in a hurry to move onto the next customer. No discounts on ice cream today, which was somewhat disappointing, but they did offer a free small ice cream for a Yelp review. read more

The ice cream is excellent as always, but the lines are super long and there isn't a great efficient order system. I ordered an online order and still had to wait in line for a while. I thought the whole purpose of an online order was to skip the line and just pick up your order Can someone please explain why I waited for like 10 minutes to pick up an order that was supposed to be ready 15 minutes ago? All things considered this place is great!! They let you sample and try all of their amazingly delectable flavors!! I just do not recommend doing an online order without going to window number 5 otherwise you will be standing and waiting in line a while.
