My dad found out they have Dole Whip so we drove 20 minutes out of the way to try! He and my brother were very happy with it, saying it tasted exactly like the ones in Hawaii! (Though the color looks much paler haha) I had a regular scoop (two flavors) of ice cream: kona mocha chip and green tea! We also bought a pint of pineapple Dole Whip to take home :) They allow you to try samples! And the staff were very friendly! We asked to keep our pint in the freezer while we dine-in, then retrieve it later right before we leave; they accommodated us perfectly! We even joked about the Coachella Valley dates that they sell, with the employee saying the dates saw Lady Gaga(?) and I said they even saw BigBang BAHAHA Side note, they were verrrry slow with service. We had been maybe the third party in line for about 10-15 minutes with the line not even moving for a while (maybe the customers ahead of us were ordering something complicated or indecisive). After a wonderful Yelp event experience at Sosogu Ramen in Downtown Redlands, I wanted something delightful and sweet. Lappert's Super Premium Ice Cream came to mind. Here I was to experience it once more. Yes, I've been here in the past. Parking was easy right in front of the shop. It was about 20 minutes until closing time. There was still a line, but not too long so it went swiftly. Atmosphere was clean and bright. Ambiance has a Hawaiian flare to it. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was in Hawaii. Limited outside seating and some inside seating. There's a cool cabana hut-like section you may sit at. One all gender restroom available for use. Staff was super fantastic and friendly. They serve the ice cream in quite a variety... fruit bowls, mangonada, vegan/dairy free ice cream, soft serve, floats, shakes, etc. You may even take home pre-packaged pints to-go. Cute shirts for sale, too. As for here, free samples available on any flavors. You may try them all (that's what they say). Sweet! Of course I didn't try all of them, but maybe one day I will. WOW, so many unique and interesting combination of flavors. I sampled 5 flavors as shown below. *Navels & Ganache - Bright navel orange ice cream mixed with rich, dark chocolate ganache chunks *Ube Macapuno - Philippine purple ube root mixed with macapuno (coconut) puree *Date Casablanca - Medajool date ice cream with a date/caramel swirl *Honeysuckle Rose - Honey sweetened vanilla ice cream with rose petal extract *Kauai Pie - Kona coffee ice cream, Hawaiian macadamia nuts, shredded and lightly toasted coconut, and rich dark chocolate fudge I ended up getting one regular cup with 2 flavors for $6.50... very reasonable price! My two picks were Ube Mascapuno and Kauai Pie. Good size scoops. Very rich and smooth texture. Ube was spectacular! YUMMY!! Kauai was good, but unfornately, it didn't pair too well with Ube IMHO. I won't do that again. I will, however, return and try their other fun and tasty flavors. I'll be back and so should you if you've been here before. The dole whip is the classic dole whip - amazing. My husband is obsessed with it, so we will be back soon for that this summer! So ok no biggie went back in to let them know this flavor sucks and was basically told 'oh too bad you should've sampled it before buying it'. Seriously? You're charging almost $6 with tax for a mini scoop and you can't even make it right if someone who didn't enter the store but thought the flavor was intriguing a chance to make things right and at least offer another flavor? We had such a wonderful experience at Lappert's Ice Cream! One of the owners personally came up to us and offered a free halo-halo because they're currently trialing the recipe and launching it soon. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture! He even made a second one just in case the first had "too much ube"--but honestly, as a Filipina, I have to say there's no such thing as too much ube. The first halo-halo was absolutely perfect! Even though he generously offered the second one, we had to politely decline because we were already so full from our own ice cream plus the free halo-halo. Terrible service. I understand the long lines and customers taking time to get their orders perfect. But one of the lady servers (heavyset), who was helping the people in front of us who already took a long time as it is (not the customers' fault at all) decided she'd chitchat with said customers for a considerably long time while our ice cream MELTED while waiting in line. These people were DONE paying--I know because I kept looking at their payment tablet and saw that they're done; and because the customers literally started eating their ice cream at the counter. Mind you there was still a long line of people behind us waiting to be served. I wish I got her name but she walked away from the register as soon as it was our turn. I was pretty much a deer in headlights here because there were just so many options to choose from that I got overwhelmed a bit. Not only is there a lot of flavors, but you can also choose to have it as a sundae, milk shake, a date shake, or a regular scoop. Luckily the guy working the counter was very patient and helped with recommendations and how each option works. I eventually decided on doing the pistachio with mint chocolate for a milk shake. While they made it, I checked out the cute ambiance of the place. It was decorated in Hawaiian themed layout, including a mini bar/hut for you to take pictures. I wish they were closer because I'd love to go back to try the other flavors. The Hana road was definitely one of my favorites.
