Sunday before Thanksgiving the lower heat element in my oven died. I ordered the part and it arrived on Tuesday. I went to install it and noticed the terminal connector was fried. I called and visited seven different appliances parts and hardware stores. No one had this part and some places never even heard of the part. I am the matriarch of my family and do ALL of the cooking for Thanksgiving. At this point I am three days behind on my cooking and prep work and I am litterally freaking out and losing any hope of my oven being repaired before Thanksgiving. I called Handy Appliance Center and spoke with Cruz. Not only did he know exactly what part I needed, he told me he had the part. Cruz and Handy Appliance Center saved our Thanksgiving. Then Jonathan decided he didn't want to hear my complaint. So he stop by saying hey, hey a dozen times. Then decides he'll show me and bring up an unrelated topic. A word of warning: do NOT use Handy Appliance. Our experience with them has been horrible. We have a double oven. Shortly before New Year's, one of our ovens started blowing the fuse every time we turned it on. We called Handy. The repair person spent 5 minutes in our home, told us we definitely needed a part, and charged us $75. He came back out about a week later, fiddled with it for an hour, told me it didn't need the part after all, and charged me another $75. Four days later, both ovens completely stopped working. When I called them, they didn't return my call for two working days. The owner of Handy eventually came out, examined it briefly, and told me that it would cost me another $400 to repair. When I expressed dissatisfaction, he was extremely rude. He also refused to fully refund my money for the two prior failed trips. I have now paid them $150 to go from one working oven to no working ovens. Obviously, we won't be using them again. read more

His Web pages boasts 10 service trucks,but the truth is he "cannot keep service people". Ron's own words. Ron (the owner) is the only service person. Not keeping up with technology. If you did not purchase unit from him, he charges WAY above going rate - Puts used parts in that do not work and charges you for new parts and will tell you there is NO ONE who will service certain brands in the area - which, if you look - is not true. If you have a warranty, the manufactuer or warranty company assigns and pays for the authorized service work. And there are repair people in the area. Another experience - we had purchased an extended warranty with a dish washer from Ron a number of years ago When we needed service, I called the warranty folks to be told it was never registered. I called Handy Appliance and waited a week and no one called me back. I had to go into the store when Ron was there and ask him face to face what was going on. It was THEN that the warranty was registered. I was told it got lost in the filie and I took that as the truth at the time. Now I wonder. We have done business with Ron for 24 years and do not like the changes we have experienced or see. Very disappointed in what USED to be superior service. We have moved on. If I could rate this place a zero, I would!. I call for them to come look at my refrigerator problem. They ask me what brand I have. I told them it Kenmore. They said They would be able to fix it. So we schedule the appointment. On the day of my appointment. The guy come in for less then 5 minutes. And said we can't fix your refrigerator because we don't carry kenmore product anymore. Like if you knew you can't fix kenmore. Why didn't you told me on the scheduling day. Instead of coming to my house to look for 5 min and bill me $95! Then two day later send me my bill for $95. First of all, the address is incorrect. They have moved to west Main Street (right by the drive-through liquor store, yes that is a landmark for me). We went to this place first a few years ago when it was time to replace our disco era appliances but found a much better deal elsewhere. I wish I had the dough to only buy from local businesses, even when they are considerably more expensive, but I'm not there yet. Then, a few weeks ago we noticed that our fridge water wasn't good. Not poisonous, but not delicious. Apparently the filter was to blame. I tried looking around online but was amazed at the variety (also the shipping charges). I figured I'd see if Handy Appliance could order it for us or something. I knew it would be expensive from my online research but was at least hopeful that I would be able to return it easily if there was a problem. When did I become so cynical? I walked in the door at Handy Appliance, was greeted immediately (there were four people at the desk behind the front counter), and ended up walking out five minutes later with two filters (they come in a 2-pack) for a verrrrrry reasonable price. We managed to get a refrigerator with the most common filter - yippee! Now we have tasty fridge water again, and I learned a valuable lesson about making easy tasks difficult (to summarize: don't). read more

It was a bit of a drive for me but I like to patronize small business when I can. I was looking for a washer and had a model picked out. Sadly they didn't have that one in stock but Larry was helpful finding me the next closest model. I bought the washer on Monday and they delivered it on Wednesday. The delivery was on time . They hooked it up and took the old one away. I'm pretty sure I would do business with Handy Appliance again. Four stars are because I had to pay a delivery fee because I lived out of their delivery area . read more

We called Handy for an urgent ( not exactly an emergency) call on the weekend. Ron came out and diagnosed the problem with our fridge and charged the rate we were quoted on the phone. We got the service we needed, and were grateful for the help on a weekend. read more

Piss poor customer service doesnt even begin to cover it. I shouldnt have been dealing with them from the start because I rent but when I told them a 4 day turn around on a repair wasnt great and asked for a better time I was told they where refusing service and was hung up on. I was hung up on 3 times after that while I was told "We are a third party and dont do customer service." No kidding... Dont hire these people. I should have sworn at them, at least then it would have warranted being hung up on. read more

My gas dryer wouldn't heat. They came out and diagnosed a problem with the thermostat switch, and told me it would be 2-3 days until they could come back to replace it. 6 days later they called to say they would come replace the switch. Replacing the switch took 5 minutes, but the gas burner still wouldn't come on. I was told the whole gas valve would need to be replaced, at a cost of greater than $200. A week later, we called and were told "Oh, we thought someone had called you with an estimate. It will be $450." We declined to accept their work. I googled the problem, found out I could fix it for under $10. It took me- not a pro- less than 20 minutes to determine that what I had googled was correct, and it will take me less than 30 minutes to install the parts and rebuild the dryer. Not pleased at all with Handy, and will never call them again. read more

I called them the morning when my double-drawer dishwasher was acting up (lower drawer was dumping dirty water into the upper drawer. ). I was put through to Ron to explain the problem, he listened, then gave me a sequence of actions to perform to try to identify and clear any possible blockage myself before he came out. It worked !!! I saved many $$$. Thank-you so much to Ron and to Michelle who runs the desk. I'll be keeping this little mop any in my files for any future needs. read more

I was able to buy a used but good, front-loading, gas dryer for a lot cheaper than other stores when my old dryer tried to burn my house down. They even delivered it, carried it up to the second floor of my house and hooked it up. When they left they took the old dryer with them so I wouldn't have to find a scrapper to do it. Will definitely go back when I need another appliance. read more

I purchased our washer and dryer from Handy Appliance back in 2011. The sales staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure that we got what we needed and for a reasonable price. Fast forward to 2016 and I called them to service a freezer that we had purchased elsewhere. I had called the manufacturer and was offered no help even though it was under warranty. In a last ditch effort, I called Handy Appliance. They were my Hail Mary or I would lose everything in my upright freezer. It was filled hundreds of dollars in product and thousands of ounces of milk for my infant that could not be replaced. I was told that they would not be able to come until the following week. It was heartbreaking. The woman on the phone asked if she could call me back. She did and after speaking with the owner and the service technician, they squeezed me in. Curtis came and was so kind and compassionate. The freezer is back in business and I didn't have to toss anything. I'm so grateful for their understanding, compassion, and exceptional customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and we will not be purchasing an appliance from another retailer again. read more

Is there a lower rating? I have a two-year-old high-end Samsung dishwasher that started to leave a white powdery film on washed dishes. Previously I had cleansed the water nozzles as instructed in the manual but the residue problem remained. I knew from the manual that the screws on the bottom tray should be removed with caution to determine whether detritus had compacted beneath the plate. Checking with Samsung I learned that Handy was recommended for problems in this area. The Handy technician arrived on time, opened the dishwasher door, told me to use a bottle of "Dishwasher Magic" in a normal empty cycle, wrote down the serial number and left. Total time in house: less than three minutes; afterwards total time in truck at curb: twenty minutes. Purchasing six bottles of the magic substance I used three to no avail. Thus, with caution my wife removed the bottom screws (which we had told the technician needed to be done per the manual), removed a great amount of gunk and ran another clean cycle. Wow! The problem disappeared. The technician had completely tanked our service call: there was no other explanation for his laziness and glibness to our request based on the manual recommendation. Three months later the first bill showed up ($100.23) along with a finance charge ($4.35) for late payment! Duh - there had been no prior bill!!!! Never again! Never again! Never again! read more
