Went back for a large take-out order of bagels and something is different. (Was here in 2024 and loved the bagels). They were very dry and chewy and our group of four didn't enjoy them. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe or what was going on as we were all surprised that they were not as good as when they first opened. Great balance to the bagel. Not really a raw fish person but overall fresh taste as the fish doesn't over power the toppings of the bagel. I got the rosemary and salt bagel but recommend a bagel without salt as fish has slight saltiness already. I would definitely come back again to try other bagels. It's easy to find a $15 dollar bagel in LA now a days but this is actually worth your $15 dollars. Their bagels are all fresh and I like how you can see them right behind the register! I got the No. 3 on a Salted Rosemary bagel. The ingredients all taste super fresh and the bagel is crafted so carefully. They're super generous with their portions, I got full with just half the bagel. This is one of the best lox bagels I've had. All flavors of all the ingredients clashed so well, the picked onions and capers add the perfect touch, a long with the cucumbers that make it even more refreshing. Loved how the bagel itself is crisp and thick too. The place itself is very clean. I like how easy it is to read the menu and everything seems tidy. The staff is very kind too and brought out our bagels. I will def come back to try more bagels!! read more

Why on Earth would you change your pizza bagel? Your last recipe was probably the best I've had anywhere -- and def one of the better pizzas, even. Why would you change to a much small, much more inferior product?! We got up early on the weekend to make sure we got some of your pizza bagels and now, after seeing the replacement, are likely not to. This was a horrible decision. visited this place on a whim, knowing i was in a rush that morning! the space is very cute with only outdoor seating. i went around 9:30 am on a wednesday and it wasn't busy at all! i ordered a #3 sandwich on an everything jalapeño cheese bagel! it tasted how i expected, with a lot of different textures and flavors. pretty good, but i did notice the cucumbers got soggy pretty quickly. while eating half, i noticed my jaw started to hurt? i was endlessly chewing it and i noticed there are other reviews complaining of the same thing. it was $17 plus the price of the bagel plus tip so around $22 for my sandwich! i enjoyed it, but can't justify the price. i will definitely try again and hopefully get a fresher bagel that might be softer! besides my small complaints, i would consider this a solid bagel shop! read more

These bagels are super delicious! Probably the best bagel I've had in California. The bagels here are seriously the most delicious experience. They have many bagels, from sweet to salty to savory. They definitely can accommodate your cravings. Not sure if they have GF options, sorry! The service here is TOP NOTCH. Everyone was full of life and happy to see you. I loved the staff. The friendly red head made it such a pleasant ordering experience. Her personality was shining and I loved every bit of it! The place itself is basically to go. There are few tables outside but I personally would rather enjoy it while taking a little stroll through downtown. The menu is relatively large believe it or not, at least for a bagel place! Been here twice in the last few weeks and have had really good experiences so far! The customer service is incredible and the people who work there are genuinely so nice too. In terms of food, so far I've tried: 1. Sesame bagel with cream cheese 2. #4 on a sesame bagel (avocado, tomato, pickled onion, radish, salted cucumber, sprouts, aioli which I substituted for cream cheese) Overall, the cream cheese is amazing, probably best I've had. It's more creamy and rich than other bagel shops' cream cheese that I've tried here. The extras veggies really level up the whole meal too. The bagel itself is hard to bite and chew, and I think I saw another review that said something similar. It was just tough to eat, no pun intended. I loveddd this bagel spot! I got the no. 1 on the everything jalapeño cheddar bagel and substituted the tomato for avocados and it was amazing. The creaminess of the aioli and avocado were perfect and the bagel added so much flavor! It wasn't too stuffed with ingredients, just the perfect amount to fill me up! The service was also super friendly and fast! After ordering my bf and I waited maybe 15/20 min. Also, while waiting I noticed they had a picture of their location and some crayons by their ordering station. So we picked one of them up and started coloring it while waiting (if u give it back to them they'll hang it up on their wall too!). There was enough seating for us to eat outside but it's located in a small plaza w/ limited parking so def come here when it's not crowded! I would definitely come back to this place! read more

Sandwiches were great! Price was steep but I guess Calabasas is expensive in general. Outside seating was nice. There's a coffee bean right next door. Took about 10 minutes to get the order. My first time at Hanks was early in the morning before I was going to have a stressful day handling family business. I was greeted immediately. I noticed how friendly the staff was and breathed a sigh of relief. The shop is cozy, clean and modern. If I had time I would have hungout eat. I ordered no. 3 lox with cream cheese and veggies on an onion bagel, recommended by employee Gareth. Shoutout to Gareth for his patience and help. The bagel was perfectly chewy and soft but rich with flavor. The lox was very fresh. The veggies, including sprouts and radishes were divine. It was so good I finished it all! We had the everything bagel and the plain bagel with vegetable cream cheese, and one of us had the lox. First time trying Hanks and my bagel sandwich was definitely one of the best I've ever had. I got the #4, which is vegan, on a rosemary sea salt bagel and added the vegan cream cheese. The rosemary bagel was hands down the best, and the sandwich had such a perfect flavor of salty and savory. The shop itself is super cute with a menu that is easy to read and staff that are genuine and friendly. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the price is a little steep. The #4 is $13.50 and to add vegan cream cheese is an additional $2.75. At the end of the day, I will definitely be returning because the food was excellent. My partner got the #1 on a pretzel bagel and said the bacon was cooked to perfection, but the bagel was a little chewy. Overall he really enjoyed his sandwich and wants to return as well. read more

I tried hanks bagels through an app that helps with food waste and their bagels were all they were cut out to be. They were fresh and the variety of flavors were wonderful. And their cream cheese was clean in flavor. This is the weirdest thing ever, but I swear it works. If you ever have too many bagels and they dry out, freeze or run the bagels under water to rehydrate, then toast; they toast perfectly. Parking: Lots of parking in the shopping center's lot. Ambiance/Service: It's a small store but lively and looks like the workers are enjoying themselves. Everyone is super nice there. They provide free water for customers and have an outside patio that you can sit and enjoy your food at. Food: Angry Cream Cheese - This one made me angry I purchased everything on 7/18 and the cream cheese was dated for BB 7/20. It was moldy!!! $10 for a tub of moldy cream cheese. So disgusting. I couldn't go back and get a refund because I didn't have a receipt and it was way too late in the day when I opened it and noticed. Lox Cream Cheese - I'm not going to lie, I was really scared to eat the lox cream cheese I had also purchased. We took the top layer off just in case. It was good and dated for BB two weeks ahead. Number 1 - 8.5/10 (per my husband) My husband liked it and he usually doesn't care for bagel sandwiches. It comes with maple bacon so you really can't complain about that. Number 3 - The sandwich itself was good but I picked the wrong salmon to go on it. They give you a choice between their house gravlax or a lox. I opted to try their house-made gravlax. 6/10 for the house gravlax itself, I didn't really like how it taste and it felt like having super thick sashimi slices on the bagel. If without the house gravlax then it would have been a 8/10 Whitefish salad - 5/10 something tasted off and I didn't like it. Not sure what it was but there was a chemical taste to it. Bagels are actually pretty good here! Hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Poppy bagel - 8/10 Good and soft inside Everything Jalapeño and Cheese bagel - 9/10 delicious and the right consistency Everything bagel - 8/10 good but I liked the jalapeño one better Rosemary salt bagel - 8/10 I love rosemary and enjoyed this one Bialy bagel - 10/10 Their version is really delicious and different with caramelized onions on top. It still has a bagel like consistency so didn't seem like a bialy at all but I loved it still. Overall it's a good spot to get a big bag of delicious bagels for your family or for work. I would probably be cautious of purchasing their cream cheese after the mold incident. I didn't like the whitefish salad so wouldn't suggest it. Stick to the bagels. read more

My husband and I came here yesterday after the farmers market. We had been to the Sherman oaks location so I was looking forward to coming here since it's closer to home. It's located across the Commons in the shopping center where Coffee Bean is, in the back corner. It's right next to Sweet Lady Jane. There's also plenty of parking there. It wasn't crowded at all so service was really fast. I got the rosemary sea salt bagel with cream cheese. They definitely don't skimp on the cream cheese.
