Public Review: Hanlees Hilltop GMC Posted May 2025 I purchased a 2023 GMC Acadia from Hanlees Hilltop GMC in November 2024, and I am now publicly documenting my experience due to unresolved and highly concerning issues. From the beginning, I was assisted by Alex Lafour and Paul Galassi, and finalized paperwork with Gerry Kuong in Finance. I brought up concerns almost immediately after purchase when I was unable to secure insurance coverage for the vehicle. My VIN would not populate in any insurance or DMV system -- and still doesn't. I left multiple voicemails over several months, specifically requesting to speak with the General Manager. None were returned. In hindsight, I now realize the first red flag should have been when they made me sign a document stating that my front license plate was already installed on the vehicle -- when it wasn't. I was told it was being installed "as we speak," only to later see it sitting on the dashboard. When I called to inquire about it, no one followed up. The situation has now escalated. My registration says "year first sold: 0000" The VIN is unrecognizable by every major insurance company I am unable to pull my own Carfax report -- it registers as invalid And most critically: I was recently the victim of a hit-and-run accident, and because this dealership sold me a vehicle that can't be insured, I have no way to repair it or file a valid claim As of today, I remain financially bound to a vehicle I cannot insure, cannot trade in, and cannot register properly. Hanlees just wants to perform procedures, not fix problems. My truck had a transmission shudder. The first step in fixing that is to change the transmission fluid, but Hanlees always treated the visit as one to change the transmission fluid, not resolve the shudder, despite me reframing the issue every time I spoke to someone there. So Hanlees changed the transmission fluid and called it done. Shudder is about 85% resolved, but Hanlees didn't even attempt to figure out what the next step would be. Even worse, the air conditioning worked perfectly for 7 years straight. During transmission service, Hanlees told me the thermostat had a problem and would be another $1K to replace. Declined thermostat replacement because only symptom was cooling fan ran for about 5 minutes after truck was shut off. Transmission issue was 85% resolved, but air conditioner went to 0% functionality. Returned to Hanlees half an hour later. Service contact was dismissive of air conditioning not working after Hanlees service and said it would resolve if the truck cooled down, and refused to have anyone look at it. Air conditioning doesn't work even at night when the outside temp is 70F. I will not be using Hanlees for anything in the future. read more

When it couldn't be fixed he cancelled our deal and sent me a check back over night. This could have been an absolute nightmare. With Aaron's integrity it turned out positive. Super disappointed. We put our order for a new truck 5 months ago. We agreed on price and we're flexible on delivery. Come to find out that the managers have changed and the new manager Ben will not honor the price that was agreed upon. I am disappointed... if they would have honored it, happy customers would recommend the dealer to their friends (and this info wouldn't even be a thing) but alas. If the manager himself went through the document, called us, and tried to work with us, I would have been more considerate. But the fact of the matter was us reaching out to verify we were on track, being told we had to call this guy, and this guy not even acknowledging us, just simply saying he can't honor it. That he had his own kids to feed. Uh, so do we? We are all in the same boat yeah? I will say Paul was a great person to work with. Anytime I emailed him, he was prompt and responsive. Just purchased a new GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate from Hanlees. I actually purchased this vehicle over the phone and did not see the vehicle until it was delivered. Hector was fantastic. He sent me numerous videos and photos of the suv. He matched another dealers price so it was a very easy transaction. I will say I am not a fan of the management of this dealership though. From the finance manager to the GM (who actually quit 3 days after I bought the SUV) seemed never to have my best interest in mind. After writing a check for $111k they wanted to charge me $500 to deliver the vehicle, (40 min drive) did not want to deliver my all weather floor mats and did not provide correct paperwork. HECTOR corrected all these mistakes and personally offered to deliver my floor mats on his day off. This is a true example of customer service. After my car was delivered Hector called me 2 separate times asking if I had any questions or needed anything. Hanlees GMC needs to take note of this and offer Hector a management position. He clearly is more qualified than the current management they have on board. I would highly recommend Hector if you're looking to purchase a GMC. He is very knowledgeable about his inventory, cares about his customers and ensures you are completely satisfied even after the transaction is completed. read more

March 2023~. Personal Items Stolen From My Sons Truck. When truck was in care of dealership. My son took his 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 in to replace transmission. The dealer had the truck for a total of two weeks. During that time several items were stolen from the inside of the truck. Gucci sunglasses, Cologne, axe, and a very pricey machete. When my son reported the stolen items to management. He was told there was nothing the dealership could do. I find it very odd that a dealership with a prestigious reputation. Had NO INTEGRITY to stand behind there mission statement. "Treat customer with paramount concern, exceeding standards, and commitment to excellence " The management did not take a report . Did not offer to look at surveillance cameras in work area's. Or follow up with workers assigned to my sons truck . The manager judge my son by his looks. A young man with tattoos . Little did he know . My son owns his own business and is a pillar in our community. The manager refused to address the situation. Stating it was his loss, and there was no proof. I would not recommend this location for purchase or service. They do not stand behind there mission statement. I wanted to update my review since I feel it's fair that they redeemed themselves here. Marvin the guy I was originally working with screwed me over because after getting my oil change he never put in the order for the parts that were needed to get my car fixed from the inspection that they did. I went to drop my car off for my appt 7 days after they were supposedly ordered and the Sales Manager Jason told me they were never ordered. Marvin wasn't there so Jason helped me and ordered the parts and I got them 4 days later I dropped my car off the next day (today) and my car is done! Jason even gave me a discount. I scheduled an appt for Monday, Sept 19 last Monday and I thought it would be smooth sailing because they created an account and set me up with an appt within 10 minutes. They said it would take half a day to a full day. I showed up on Monday, Sept 19th at 8:43 am even tho my appt was at 9 am... There was no clear direction of where to go, so I had to figure it out myself. Once I entered, the lobby was pretty empty, but I still had to call out to get the representative attention, who was like 10 feet away from me but was too focused on his computer even though if he had looked up he would see the people in the lobby waiting. Once he helped me which didn't take too long and helped me obtain a Lyft home (he asked me if I wanted a Lyft even tho it was on my file and I had asked about it in the beginning when I checked in the car). I was home by 9 am... I work from home, so it was no problem for my car to be gone for a day, and I didn't have anywhere to go. I then realized it was 2:48 pm and had yet to receive a call from them regarding an update on my car or if it was ready. I called and was transferred to the service department and asked for an update. They told me they had to go to the back to check on the car and speak to the mechanic and would call me back in 10 minutes. I didn't receive a call so I had to call back myself at 3:58 pm (when I realized they close at 5 and would need a ride to go get the car) and they said again they would call me back in 10 min. It was then finally at 4:22 pm when they called me back, and I was then finally informed that they ordered the wrong parts for my car (I am still confused why they never told me this when I called twice before now nor why they didn't call and tell me that midday). I am also confused about how they ordered the wrong part for a car when I booked my appt a week ago and gave them the VIN number of the car and they pulled up the recall information. They then told me they would try and be done by 5 pm or the following morning and would call me yet again when they were done with my car. They said they would provide me with an update before their closing hours. When it hit 5:30 pm, I realized they wouldn't be calling me and my car wouldn't be ready. It is now Tuesday, September 20 and they called me at 8:40am to tell me they could only fix one side of the recall issue. So I am confused how they didn't tell me this again yesterday when I called numerous times. Once I arrived, I was in and out within 5 minutes. So in-person and phone customer service was great but they don't communicate whatsoever if you want an update on your car. read more

I brought truck here to be serviced for the A/C blowing hot air. GMC replaced the A/C condenser and did a full service. The Trans line was not reconnected correctly and blew off the A/C condenser while driving down the road at 65 MPH. The truck made it 25 miles down the road and was towed back to them the same day. It was a Friday when the truck was towed back service was gone for the day. There was a sales man there that took the keys. The truck was not gone for more than the time it takes to go 25 miles, wait for a tow truck (on HWY 4 HEAVY DEANGEROUS TRAFFIC) and be towed back. Mon morning I called Jason the service mngr and told him of the situation and he assured me he would get right on it and call me back. Tues morning I had not heard anything from him. I called Jason back Tues morning and he acted like he didn't even know where the truck was or the keys. He acted weird and started asking me weird questions. He was being very evasive and acted like he had no clue what was going on. I knew at that point something very shady was going on. I let him know I knew something shady was going on and he hung up on me. He then called me back and said my truck was ready and to come pick it up. He said the issue was unrelated to the repairs and that a trans seal had blown and its now fixed with no charge. I went to pick the truck up and Ash the general mngr told me I would no longer have to deal with Jason and that he would take care of me. He told me that he heard the way Jason was talking to me and that he would talk to him. On my way out Ash said something to me that I did not think much of at the time but said I hope not to see you for a very long time. The truck almost did not make it home. Shifting very rough with a hard jerk and the trans is whining very loudly. I opened the hood when I did make it home and trans fluid is everywhere. All over the engine, fire wall, drivers side breaks and all under the front of the truck. You can clearly see the line blew off and was not connected properly when the repairs to the A/C condenser had been done. The trans is under the middle of the truck. How then did trans fluid get all over the front of the truck while going 65 MPH down the freeway. Why would they send that truck out with trans fluid drenched all over the front breaks? This is a fire hazard and not to mention the breaks do not work when soaked with fluid. My wife drives this truck with our children and grand children. This is deffinantly a total disregard for the safely of peoples lives and no regard to what could happen or to be burned alive if the breaks ignited from the fluid and not to mention all the trans fluid that currently soaks the entire front of the truck. Its a time bomb! I called Hanlees Hilltop Buick GMC back and talked to Jason. He was very condescending and basically said look we fixed your truck for free what do you want? I told him the issue was directly related to the repairs and there was no blown seal under the truck at the trans and he refused to help and said they didn't want "my kind" up there! What the? I texted Ash the general mngr and he texted back saying that he didn't like my allegations and that we are done! I made a complaint with GM and Jason called me back to bring the truck in. I brought the truck in and wanted to see what unrelated repairs they made. I was recording the dispute and Jason said he would not help me and refused to be recorded. That's odd!!! Why not??? Its a dispute! Jason is saying the trans blew a seal under the truck but the trans fluid if all over the engine bay and the very front of the truck. Dripping infact off the front bumper. So I went out to my truck and sat in the service entrance and called GM complaint department and just sat there. 20 minutes later the mechanic that worked on my truck walked over. He asked how he could help and said he was the one that did the repairs. I explained the situation to him and he admitted that the Trans line blew from the A/C condenser due to a bad clip he put on. Said the quality of the clips are bad as they are made in Mexico. We then looked the truck over and he confirmed that the issue was a direct result of the repairs to the A/C condenser. Funny to me he knew the problem and about the clip before we even looked at the truck. All the while Ash the general mngr and Jason the service mngr are telling me the issue was unrelated to the previous repairs and that I should be grateful that they fixed my truck for free. The mechanic asked me what he could do to make it right since it was on him for the issue. I told him I want me truck fixed as the trans is toasted and I want it fixed at a different GMC and a loner truck until the repairs are made and the Extreme fire hazer cleaner up. The mechanic said he would talk to Ash and they would get back to me. Still nothing and its been weeks. Come to find out this Ash mngr has been fired from his last 2 GM jobs. They were unprofessional, and you have to call them 20 times to get a call back as the calls usually go to voicemail for the service department. Went to take our GMC for a oil change and tire rotation. Got checked in with service for out prescheduled appointment. Was told after dropping off the car that there was a 2 hour delay! Got a bunch of texts before the appointment. No warning of a service delay. Customer service rep said we will call you when it's ready. Well, I'm waiting for the vehicle. She didn't act like this was anything out of the ordinary. I get the COVID employee shortage but it's bad business to not let your customers know of delays.
