I come here when I want a taste of Korea (I've still never been :'(...) but anyways, I love the cheap, yummy Korean street food they offer here! The service is good sometimes and sometimes not. depending on the ahjusshi's mood LOL but hey, I'm here to eat so I don't really care. If you're around the area, especially for a late night munchee (they're always open), then I highly recommend trying this place out! Just go in side the Hanyang Mart entrance and turn to the left~

Decent place for late night Korean eats. One of the main attractions of this place is that it's open 24 hours a day. It also has parking and is located on Northern Blvd. This place is inside of the Hanyang supermarket and as such the decor reflects that. This isn't a restaurant or a cafe. It's more of a picnic area. The menu offers a good selection. They mostly have Korean street foods and simple dishes, such as soups or meat and rice. The food quality is decent. I tried the yukgaejung and split the fried dumplings. The food wasn't bad, but I felt like the yukgaejang could use more flavoring or spice. The fried dumplings were actually pretty good. The portion size is relatively the same as most Korean restaurants, but the price is slightly cheaper.

this is the kal sujaebi (12$)

Yes, the kal sujaebi is not very photogenic due to the micro-bead looking black sesame particles. However, my mom LOVES it. It might possibly be one of her favorite things to eat outdoors. It is simple and a very traditional Korean food. Got this for my mom when she got sick and lost all appetite, it actually showed improvement as soon as she finished! Haha it is amazing. However, personally I am NOT a fan of this, I have tried other foods and it was good. Kind of surprising to find well-made food in a sideshop of supermarket! Run by adults/elderly cooks so it has a sense of original cooking instead of the "lets just add MSG and it'll taste good method"

The spicy pork dish is great if you can eat spicy food. So flavorful!

Nice cozy place with great prices. Staff is friendly and pretty cool. This place has been here for a long time, has a parking lot and is in the same building as a super market. Try this place some time !

This place is so hidden that not a lot of people know about it. My friend was so surprised when we brought her here lol. You literally have to go into hanyang market and it's at the corner, through a tiny door. Parking won't be a problem since you just park in the supermarket parking lot. We ordered fried dumplings, toppokki, army stew, and an ox bone and shank stew. Shared these between 4 people and we were all really full. All my friends love the army stew, it doesn't have too strong of a kimchi taste, and they give you a pack of shin ramen for you to add into it. The ox bone soup was kind of plain to me. The toppokki was a bit on the spicy side but not that bad. I liked the fried dumplings, super crunchy with a good amount of fillings. Downside is that they have an open door at the corner, so if it's cold, wind will come through, and you can smell cigarette, so be aware if you don't like the smell of it. Overall a nice and authentic Korean food place to chill. I believe they're 24 hrs, so people come here to sober up and get food after alcohol! We only paid 14 dollars each, so for the price, it's definitely worth it!

Very filling, very cheap. I bring my posse of starving teens and piss off the ajummas and ajusshis by taking 3/4 of the spot. sorry~ Kind of cramped, but were you expecting a fancy restaurant in middle of a supermarket? Dining is a bit rushed due to the lack of space. Don't expect great service cause you gotta go like the food-- fast. When I say "going to hanyang" I mean eating here, not grocery shopping. Everybody should leave with at least a hot, delicious corndog in their mouths. (thats 2 bucks)

more like 3.5 This is an interesting place. It is a hole in wall place inside a Korean Supermarket. Korean assorted pancakes - $10 - 4 stars kimchi dumplings - $7 - 3.5 stars - my first time to have kimchi dumplings and they are interesting and quite good fermented bean paste stew - $10 - 3 stars - went on a bit of adventurous side and ordered this from a menu on the wall with all Korean words and a picture of hot stone pot with tofu soup. It turned out to be fermented bean paste with tofu. It was ok and was glad we tried it, so sure we will order this again. Next time we will try the blood sausage with soup and oxtail soup.....

This place is a little of a hidden gem and not quite like other Korean restaurants. But no gatekeeping here! We also came at a weird lunch time around 2pm so it wasn't really busy and we were seated right away. Once you enter, you'd quickly notice the very detailed beautifully hand painted murals on the walls and an abundance of painted butterflies. The attention to detail is impeccable! The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I'd come back to try their other food options in the future!

There's 2 waitresses and one busser, but I felt only one of the waitress was pulling the weight, while the other (maybe she's the owner?) mostly chatted with one of the table customers. I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. Don't come if you're in a rush.

Geo Si Gi is highly known for their signature gamjatang (spicy pork bone soup). Ordered the Gamjatang & Grilled Mackerel Set - $52.95 (for 2) The gamjatang is perfectly spiced - bold and warming without overwhelming heat (and trust me, my spice tolerance is low!). Instead of the usual red kimchi, they load it with long strips of green napa cabbage, cut right before your eyes before serving. Some bean sprouts, watercress on top, with tender potatoes, chewy rice cakes, and massive pork bones that fall right off - so meaty and flavorful. Served with a side of sweet mustard sauce. Pure comfort on a cold day. The grilled mackerel was enormous and incredibly plump - way bigger than expected! As an oily fish, it's rich and satisfying, but we barely made it through a third. If you're a mackerel fan like me, it's a must-order. . Banchan were simple and homey: nothing flashy, just solid classics. Bonus: it comes with fluffy steamed egg (jjim) that rounds out the meal perfectly. I can eat an entire bowl of rice with just the steamed egg . This set was massive for two - we left with about 1/4 of the soup and 2/3 of the fish! Pro tip: Save some broth and ask them to make fried rice with it at the end. Game-changer. . Highly recommend for hearty, soul-warming Korean food in Flushing!

A couple of us shared a $13 bottle of the green grape flavor of Chum Churum, a soju. In terms of banchan, there was a bunch. Everyone got a cold and refreshing cabbage soup as well as a very tasty version of Braised Tofu/Dubu-jorim/두부조림. Once we ordered, we also got a bunch of other banchan, including cabbage, radish, and cucumber Kimchi, broccoli and cauliflower Namul, Marinated Mushrooms/Beoseot Bokkeum/버섯볶음, Anchovies With Peanuts/Myeolchi Bokkeum/멸치볶음, and Potato/Gamja Salad/감자샐러드. One of the other things brought out was a pretty tasty version of Raw Soy Sauce Marinated Crab/Ganjang-Gejang/간장게장. Most of these were refillable. The first actual thing that arrived was something that I can't eat, the $22.99 Seafood Pancake/Haemul Pajeon/해물파전. I have a cephalopod allergy, or in other words, anything with tentacles, so I avoid squid and octopus, and seafood pancakes always contain one of those two. Everyone else enjoyed it, though. The pajeon I could eat was the Kimchi Jeon/김치전 for a dollar less. It was pretty tasty, though I prefer other spots that had a bit more of a crisp. Next was one of their signatures, the grilled duck. Going from online reviews, we went with the non-spicy version, as people prefer it, as the spicier marinade overpowers the duck. This was the $29.99 Sang Ori Gui/생오리구이. The sliced duck was on a hot, sizzling plate, with there also being a lot of grilled onions and scallions. The duck had a mix of pieces, ranging from fatty to less so, and had a nice mix of textures. This was easily one of my favorites, though I liked it even more when paired with the ssamjang that arrived with the BBQ, as the sauce balanced the light fattiness. Arriving at a similar time was the last thing I couldn't eat, the Spicy Stir-Fried Baby Octopus on Iron Plate/Jjukkumi Cheolpan Bokkeu/철판쭈꾸비볶음, for $30.99. I couldn't try the octopus, but the portion was plentiful, and I had a bit of the noodles on the bottom after making sure there were no tentacles, as well as trying the sauce. The sauce was tasty, spicy, and very flavorful. We went with two of the Korean BBQ meats, one beef and one pork. My preference of the two was surprisingly the $49.99 Charcoal Grilled Marinated Beef Ribs/Yangnyeom Galbi/양념갈비. This also came with two veggies: kabocha squash and asparagus. The beef was extremely tender, had the perfect mix of fat and meat, and had only a light sweetness from the marinade. This was absolutely delicious and very much worth the price point. Also tasty was the Grilled Pork Belly/Samgyeopsal/삼겹살, for $36.95. This also came with a few things, including cabbage and a large mushroom. The pork belly was delicious, being just fatty enough and very tender as well, with a mild chew. The BBQ came with a few extra side dishes. This included a tasty steamed egg/Gyeran-jjim/계란찜, greens, an onion salad, ssamjang, salt, and a small boiling pot of soybean stew/doenjang jjigae. They were all tasty, though nothing particularly notable outside of the portions being generous. Also, at the end of the meal, they gave us some sujeonggwa. Not much for me to complain about this place. The food was very tasty overall, and the service was wonderful. I would go back and order a full beef BBQ set.
