***DELICIOUS KOREAN FAST FOOD*** ***FANTASTIC KIMBAP*** ITS ALMOST AN INSULT Mention fast food, and most individuals will think McDonald's. Burger King, Taco Bell, or some other similar crapola. So in my way of thinking, identifying Rolly Kimbap as a fast food restaurant is practically an insult, considering the quality of what's being served here. However, after placing an order you'll receive your food much quicker than a standard restaurant, so the fast food moniker is unavoidable. And this is true even more now, since all the dine-in tables were removed when Covid hit, making Rolly's a take-out only establishment. IT'S NOT SUSHI ! If someone whose never experienced Kimbap inquires, I'll explain that it's kinda like a Korean style sushi roll. But don't let others hear you say this, because you'l almost always get scolded by some fusspot, insisting that "It's not sushi!" So regardless of whatever you may think it is, I can assure you that the Kimbap at Rolly is one of my all time favorites, and made-to-order with supremely fresh and tasty ingredients. Even more, you can choose from about fourty different varieties, with the Avacado, Crab Salad, Spicy Chicken or Squid, Bulgogi, and Rolled Omelette being my top choices. And don't worry if you're really hungry, as each order of Kimbap here is substantial, and loaded with tasty ingredients. I mean, if you compare one piece of Kimbap at Rolly to a slice of a Japanese sushi roll, the difference in size is laughable. SO MANY OPTIONS Whenever I visit, just ordering Kimbap is impossible for me, as the menu is loaded with small eats, such as the Rice Balls, which are about the size of a medium orange, and are available with about twenty different fillings. Then there's the Crispy Chicken, which has a crunchy coating that seems to have rice crispies mixed in. The Tteok-bokki rice cakes are really delicious here, and can be ordered either spicy, fried, sweet & sour, or with seafood mixed in. And there's other sides like dumplings, corn dogs, and fries. NOODLES TOO Rolly's Spicy Ramen is a must-try item, that is served with a bold-red Gochujiang based broth similar in flavor to their Spicy Tteok-bokki sauce. And whenever I order this, it is so good, that I find it impossible to wait until I arrive home. So I'll always pop it open, and start eating while I'm driving, making a fantastic mess with the red broth all over my face, hands, and steering wheel. What a jackass I am sometimes! In addition, there's also a non-spicy Ramen Soup that can be ordered with different ingredients mixed in, Udon Noodle Soup, and last but not least, Korean Buckwheat Cold Noodles that are really tasty. KING OF BENTO If your hungry for a full pre-made meal, Rolly Kimbap's Bento Boxes - listed as meals on the menu - are fantastic. Order one, and you will be presented with something that is beautiful to look at, really delicious, and very filling. For example, a Fried Rice Meal includes a nice sized portion of fried rice, topped with a fried egg, along with sides such as salad, vegetables, macaroni salad and pickled daikon, to name a few. Another example is the Spicy Pork, Squid, And Bulgogi Meal, that comes with white rice, salad, broccoli, fish cakes, Korean sausage, a vegetable pancake, and seasoned bean sprouts as side dishes. Even more, if you're feeding two people, Rolly offers different Couples Sets, such as the #144 which includes a Bento box with kimbap, fried pork cutlet & sides, along with a large order of Spicy Tteok-bokki. LOVE THIS PLACE I only award a four star rating to Rolly Kimbap, because you can definitely find better versions of their hot dishes, such as Jeyuk bokkeum spicy pork or Soondubu spicy tofu stew at top Korean restaurants. But at the same time, it's really surprising how fantastic the food is at this small takeout spot. And on top of everything else, there's a very large parking lot behind the store, so parking is always a breeze. And so, if I'm driving on the LIE near exit 29, and it's time for lunch or dinner, there's a really good chance that I will stop here, because I really love this place. Fast Korean food. A huge listing of over 30 different types of kimpbab to choose from. It's a tight small place, so I usually do takeout here. Decor is very basic, maybe a little divey. Service is quick and friendly. I've been here many times and haven't had to wait long. The kimbap are made well. I must have tried a dozen different flavors and all were good. Can't believe I haven't tried this place before. I wanted Korean for eats and happened to be walking by Rolly Kimbab and decided to give it a shot. Take-out location only, with a bench and a couple of chairs to sit and wait as your food is prepared. They also have pre-packaged Korean food in refrigerated sections for you to choose from. Their menu is expansive, and lists prices if you pay cash and card; there is an additional fee for purchases made with a card. For my first visit, I went with spicy tuna kimbap and a spicy bulgogi rice ball. It came to just over $15 paying by card. The customer service could be better. I wasn't initially attended to and noticed Asian folks who came in after me were being greeted immediately. After several minutes, they acknowledged my presence. After I ordered, I was told about a 5 minute wait. Almost 20 minutes later, people who ordered after me got their food right away, and I was still waiting. I asked about my order, and it was sitting at the counter the entire time. Hence why I could not give 5 stars. The food though, definitely deserves these 4 stars. The kimbap was fresh, delicious and right amount of spice. It was my first time trying a bulgogi rice ball. Just the right size and packed with flavor and spice. So good! Am I going to return? I started coming here a lot recently since this location is about 10 minutes closer to me than the Flushing one. They open at 6 am every day, there's plenty of street parking, and the staff are super nice here. Me and the kids love their rice balls- with spicy tuna, bulgogi, or spam. They also like the crispy chicken strips and K-corn dog. The kimbaps are good too- I usually get the small size- with only spicy tuna and less veggies, the regular size is huge. Miso soup is given upon request. Call in your order for faster pickup and pay with cash to avoid the 3.5% surcharge. They have a very intensive menu- you can literally eat Korean food anytime of day. It's a takeout place, no eat in option. But the food and value are excellent! I was in the store and ordered the single set, and it cost only $16 for udon, pork katsu, kimbab, salad, and a rice ball. My favorite kimbab place! I've been coming here for over 6 years now, and I love their menu. While the prices have increased over the years, it's still worth the price, especially for the amount they give you. My favorites are definitely their spicy squid kimbab, spicy bulgolgi kimbab, and tteokbokki. The kimbab is so flavorful with the perfect amount of spice and filling to rice ratio. The tteokbokki is also cooked nicely, and the rice cakes have that bouncy and chewy texture that I love. It also comes with fish cakes, cabbage, and hard boiled egg. It's been a tradition to always bring tteokbokki and kimbab from here whenever I go away for university. Their set meals are also great deals as well as their Couple Set that includes tonkatsu, kimbab, and tteokbokki! I love how extensive their menu is and how they have so many kimbap varieties. - The crab salad kimbap was delicious (I love crab salad California rolls, so this was like a step up). - The eel kimbap was good as well; and while I do love eel sushi rolls over California rolls, I liked the crab salad kimbap more than the eel kimbap maybe because the eel wasn't really the star of the show in the eel kimbap. I feel like the eel didn't make much of a difference to the taste). - The BBQ chicken kimbap was just okay. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't reorder it because the chicken made the roll a bit too dry and didn't have much flavor. I thought it was going to be marinated BBQ chicken, but it was fried chicken. I do like this location better than the other. Even though this location doesn't have dine-in seating, I've found the quality of the food to be better, at least for the kimbap. I like that this location gives the option to make the kimbap with multigrain rice. Also, the rolls I've gotten here have all had a balanced filling-to-rice ratio, whereas at the other location the kimbap would have too much rice. It's really a shame they got rid of their dine-in seating. I normally don't like getting takeout because of the waste it produces and would prefer dining in over getting takeout, but I sometimes will make the exception for this place. This Rolly is completely different from the location in Flushing. I ordered a burdock kimbap and the person who picked up the phone said there's no such thing and all the kimbaps come with burdock. So I ordered 3 combination kimbap instead bc the one in Flushing is so good. The kimbaps that I got are really hard to digest. They put a bunch of random fillings that dont mesh well like bulgogi and tuna. It's soo huge that it's hard to eat. I also ordered a children's kimbap bc the Flushing location does it so well and again so nasty. I'm really disappointed. I will never go here again. I'd rather trek to Rolly or Nolbu in Flushing. I've been coming here since high school, always loved it. Now I often stop in to grab a quick lunch before I pick my kids up at school down the road. The staff is always really pleasant and helpful. I love the dishes they make and package for sale in front of the register. The bulgogi kimbap and tuna rice ball are still my favorite. Everything always tastes fresh. Great spot in the neighborhood. I just wish they would let you sit in and eat again! I miss being able to sit there and eat my food. It's only takeout now. I am very surprised that I haven't done any review for this place. This place is my favorite Jjolmyun ddukbokki place. They make the best ddukbokki especially with Jjolmyun. Of course, it is sad that they are mostly takeout these days so I cannot eat Jjolmyun ddukbokki at the table which taste the best. But I still like their ddukbokki and their set menu. Their food is decently priced and I always opt for their couple set which comes with katsu, kimbap, tteokboki and an assortment of banchan. There are some new additions to their menu from when I last went (years ago) like Korean corn dog which was so good.
