The blood sausage has a really good texture and not grimy at all. However, the sliced pork in the broth was just okay. Gamja Tang (8/10) - This spicy pork rib soup w/ potato was surprisingly good, though I would have preferred more veggies like the version at Geo Si Gi. I still quite enjoyed it and love the tender pork. Seolleong Tang (8.5/10) - This beef broth was the best item we had imho. Such a rich flavor from slow simmered beef. Plenty of noodles and maybe the best brisket I had in soup ever. The issue for me is that the server only gave us salt and didn't give us any scallions for this soup. In the past, I have ordered their Jokbal and Bossam, which were both excellent too. Next time I'll come try their Queen of Kalbi Soup. Looked amazing on the table next to us. Also, the restaurant doesn't give a ton of banchan, but the fish cake is my favorite version in all of NYC. One quick note, our server does do his job, but you can feel his annoyance at every one of our requests. Ordered the Gamjatang & Grilled Mackerel Set - $52.95 (for 2) The gamjatang is perfectly spiced - bold and warming without overwhelming heat (and trust me, my spice tolerance is low!). Instead of the usual red kimchi, they load it with long strips of green napa cabbage, cut right before your eyes before serving. Some bean sprouts, watercress on top, with tender potatoes, chewy rice cakes, and massive pork bones that fall right off - so meaty and flavorful. Served with a side of sweet mustard sauce. Pure comfort on a cold day. The grilled mackerel was enormous and incredibly plump - way bigger than expected! As an oily fish, it's rich and satisfying, but we barely made it through a third. If you're a mackerel fan like me, it's a must-order. . Banchan were simple and homey: nothing flashy, just solid classics. They also gave us a complimentary daenjang jigae on the house as well as steamed egg and an array of tasty banchan (including spicy raw marinated crab and pickled perilla leaves, two of my favorites).
