My wife and I came here last night for our only night out, and overall it was a mixed experience. First impressions: the place is small, with some alley-style outdoor seating. It's actually pretty cute, not gonna lie--but definitely on the tighter side. The service was great, especially considering we came in about an hour before closing. No complaints there at all. As for the food, this might sound a bit nitpicky, but there were a few things that stood out. We ordered edamame, which surprisingly came without salt (it usually does). My wife and I both got the chicken ramen since they were out of pork, and we also ordered the Dodger sushi roll. The sushi was excellent--super flavorful and easily the highlight of the meal. The ramen, though, came out insanely hot--like it had just been pulled from the surface of the sun. I ended up burning my mouth right away, so I couldn't really enjoy or taste the broth. On top of that, it had way more mushrooms than noodles, and the chicken portions were almost nonexistent. For an $88 bill, I would've liked to see a bit more attention to detail, especially with the small things and something as simple as serving temperature. Overall, some good and some not-so-good. Made a quick decision to have lunch here and we were seating immediately which was nice for being Sunday. Service was very fast food came out within 10 minutes and our server was great at checking up on us and giving portions of anything we asked for at a respectable amount which was really nice. This place was a little hard to find! Tucked into the back corner of a small shopping plaza. Parking was scarce but we found one around back. Walking in it was empty except for 2 people but we were greeted and took a seat at the sushi counter. They have a happy hour menu posted on the wall, but we ordered off of the regular menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see that their pricing is pretty on par with most other SoCal sushi places. Some things were cheaper and some more expensive. Everything came out quickly and tasted very fresh. The Gyoza was extremely hot and didn't taste like it was pre fried and set under a heater. The citrus ponzu they served it with was also really nice. Both of the waitresses were very nice, and attentive! The sushi chef handed us our sushi directly from the counter! I'll start by saying the place is really nice and the staff were friendly. I can't say I totally enjoyed the food but it wasn't bad by any means. It's not your authentic style Japanese sushi it's more fusion if anything. I ordered the Hamachi Kama and unfortunately it's the least tastiest I've had. For some reason the word Hamachi was getting confused so if that's what you want ask for the yellow tail. I was trying to order Hamachi sashimi and it took me telling them yellow tail sashimi to finally get the order in after having 2 waitresses ask what I was asking for which is no big deal although I feel that's something to know working at a sushi restaurant. The servers were nice and polite but were definitely off their game because we didn't get many things we ordered until halfway through our meal and drinks having to ask for multiple things that were initially ordered. I found it odd that they asked if we wanted wasabi and ginger? Isn't that automatic? This establishment needs to be hyped up more . We finally decided to give it a try thanks to my mom friend Wendy . I had 2 cocktails of (let-that-man-go ) it was delicious not sweet at all perfect for me . My mom and I ordered 3 rolls the cucumber yellowtail rose , Baja fuego with added jalapeños in it and a honzo roll . Just typing it and remembering how tasty and fresh it was is making my mouth water again . I definitely need to go back . They have a nice outdoor seating area along with seating near the sushi chefs and seating at the bar . Parking is not the best but definitely many places you can park at . Luckily we live close so now we know we can walk there . The service was amazing thanks to Franky he is up and down taking care of a lot but he has it on lock and I loved that. Been dining at Hanzo for years, this weekend I went and OMG the worst. Servers were sitting, taking pictures with family or customers, placed my order and they brought the wrong order, forgot to bring a soup I ordered, had to Flagg them for water refills. That alone we waited like 15 min by the time he got his drink I was already done with mine. Today 3/7/2026 I came in with my family my husband my kids and me. We came to register our name around 10am and we fully understood it was a 45-1hr wait to be seated. Ok.... We then came in (many tables were empty). We got seated we ordered drinks came 15 minutes later. Then I ordered a lemonade came 15 min later. We sat at our table for 1 hour and 30 minutes waiting to eat. While we waited many tables that had gotten there with the same amount of people and same exact orders had been treated. We ended up getting our food. They were so cold. COLD. As if they were just sitting there. I had asked many times and kept waiting. Food was cold. Not the best food. Definitely think before coming to it's over hyped TikTok's videos. I still cannot believe we waited 2 HOURS for cold food. They also forget your order and mix up all your meals. Hours need to be updated. I tried calling to place on order before 7pm and the phone kept ringing. I checked hours on maps and yelp and saw it said open Monday - Saturday until 10pm. Figured they were just busy given that this has happened before where they don't answer cus it's too loud or too busy. The servers are rude but make up for it with free samples of plum wine. However, the food is nothing to rave about. Although it comes in generous portions, it won't support the microwavable day or two- old sushi. Taste's like someone kept opening the fridge door throughout the day and didn't seal it properly. The sake yields about 6-7 shots for one but you won't feel tipsy let alone buzzed at all. Watered down or months old unfortunately not the best but not the worst. I really wish this experience was better. The quality of the food was okay-- not quite as good as other places in the area, but not terrible either. The biggest issue was the DJ playing music at a deafening volume. We moved outside because it was so bad inside and even outside, had to shout our conversation. The service wasn't very good; appetizers arrived after the main dish and we had to ask four times for eating utensils and plates after our food arrived, but I wonder if that is because they just couldn't actually hear each other. A really nice hidden gem in a cute corner of San Fernando. They're specialty rolls have unit flavor combinations and they have a sushi burger, spicy tuna sandwiches between crispy rice made their own special way. Things we loved on this visit: tactical roll and yellow tail carpaccio. MacClay roll and yellowtail delight were good too. If you like yellowtail, they have quite a few concoctions to try. read more

DON'T COME HERE. We come here a lot as we are local. We finally invited my in-laws for my birthday here as we always really liked it but it started with the waitress getting our order completely wrong and leaving. We thought she was done as she was standing in the corner on her phone, possible waiting to get picked up. Another person started running the food but it turned out that our prior waitress put in items we didn't order. We sent it back as we didn't order it but then our other items were messed up too. The manager and another waitress finished running our meal but then our waitress shows back up with the bill with the items we didn't order on it. She said my husband ordered something he didn't, nor does he like. They took it back so I'm not sure why she wanted to charge up except for maybe padding the bill as the tip was mandatory for 6 people. She then proceeded to argue that we did order it. At this point we spoke to the manager when she wasnt around as they also said that we would get an ice cream for the birthday but ended up charging us for it. We got matcha and she brought us vanilla but at this point we at least got something so it's fine. It was fine as we ate it so we'll obviously pay for it. As I was describing all the issues the waitress came up and started to argue once more and with a sarcastic attitude said "Well, did you not get your food" speaking about the appetizer. Implying that we should be grateful to receive the food at all even if we were almost done with the meal. I was a waitress so I understand that it can be hard and that's why I generally don't say anything but I couldn't even comprehend the waitress's problem. The manager did apologize which would have been the end but the waitress doubled down and started arguing with us in front of him. He said nothing, and just looked awkward like she was running the show. LOVE Hanzo Sushi! From the decor, to the menu and ambiance, it gets 5 stars. The customer service is also top notch. The staff is super attentive and friendly. The restaurant is clean and so is the restroom. My friend and I order the spicy edemame and we were both reaching for our glasses of water! Lol. It was SPICY! I love the variety of rolls they have available. We got a version of the naked roll (sushi without the rice) and it was truly refreshing! It tasted fresh and delicious!
