Super sweet cupcakes and rather overpriced at almost $5 each. They look nice and have even been featured on the Food Network, but they're pretty rich and probably best reserved for special occasions only. I personally like their cookies more than their cupcakes, but even the cookies can be pretty dense and a bit too much. Overall, I like coming here once in awhile, but prefer the Fullerton location over this one, as the staff is a lot nicer there. The employees at the Brea location aren't friendly at all and the door has been locked well past 15 minutes of their stated opening time at least twice now, so it seems like they're rather disorganized. read more

This review is a bit late, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this great, local bakery. So far I've very much enjoyed my customer service experience with them (the person I spoke to on the phone was super friendly, informative, and helpful). I am a big fan of the cupcakes here. Usually, I'm hesitant to get cupcakes from other places simply because I feel they are often overwhelmingly sweet. This place, however, does a perfect job of balancing between the soft cake flavor and the filling/icing's sweetness. There's a nice finesse with the flavors they've created (though I usually don't, I enjoyed their red velvet immensely because they do so well making these). Average cost of their cupcakes (or at least some of the specialty ones) are around $4 a piece, but you do get a good sized, delicious cupcake from it. I ordered their 2021 New Years covering (because I saw it on Instagram and it resonated with me). I have to say, though, 2021 is already starting off a bit rough . When I first heard of Hapa Cupcakes, my wedding planner boss gifted them for my birthday. My initial thoughts was I loved the colors, especially on the Funfetti and the variety of flavors. The cupcakes were delectable and were the perfect yummy sweet treat. Per usual for all cakes, it was "got milk" delicious! I recently discovered that Hapa opened a second cakery in Brea. This is where I picked up my last few orders and they were all within a weekend-ish. On a Friday I ordered a 6" Oreo Funfetti for my buddy's birthday. Saturday I ordered some cupcakes for another buddy's birthday. The following Monday I picked up my Star Wars May the Fourth cupcakes for Star Wars Day! The staff Gil and Tatiana are so knowledgeable about the sweets, helpful, and Gil even remembered me, which was awesome! Ahahah... or is that a bad thing? Within four days I became the Duchess... oh, boy! Hahaha... good times! Parking is easy. They have a small lot directly behind the cakery shop, which was an old house that got renovated. Oh, and on May the Fourth -- I finally tried rge cookies. Hands down the Snickerdoodle was my favorite followed by the Circus Amimal. My favorite cupcakes are the Circus Animal and Funfetti. The birthday cake -- Oreo Funfetti was sooooooooo good! All my friends liked it too. That cake was perfect because you can't go wrong with cookies & cream AND the birthday boy loves Kit Kats. The next time I'll be back will be for my mom's birthday / Mother's Day. Can't wait! I know exactly which cake I will be ordering. read more

2.5 Stars. It was my first time here and I purchased two cupcakes and a cookie. The strawberry cheesecake cupcake was a white cupcake with strawberry jam filling and cream cheese frosting with a dollop of strawberry jam on top. It was interesting but I didn't love it. The circus animal cupcake was a white cupcake with pink frosting, sprinkles, and a circus animal cookie on top. I really didn't care for this cupcake either, as it didn't really taste that different from box mix cupcakes and the frosting wasn't great. I had two bites of this cupcake before tossing it. Unlike their cupcakes though, I thought the cookies were pretty great. I purchased a circus animal cookie and a snickerdoodle ($2.50 each). The circus animal cookie had circus animal bits baked into it and a circus animal cookie on top. And I loved the snickerdoodle. Both cookies had the perfect chewy texture. So while I won't be returning for more of their cupcakes, I may just come back for more of those incredible cookies. read more

I called on a Tuesday and asked if they did gender reveal cakes. They said they usually need more time with cakes but know gender cakes are time sensitive so they said they can have it done by Thursday. I was so excited and was so please how nice they were through the whole process. We got a small cake (smash cake size) and 6 cupcakes, it was kinda pricey but the taste of them was well worth it!!! This shop does not disappoint! We've enjoyed several of their cupcakes, but my absolutely favorite is the Chocolate Whiskey. Annette helped us out today, very nice and efficient as she got us signed up for the rewards program. Sometimes they have whole cakes available for purchase so that's nice if you might be looking for something small last minute. Some of the BEST pastries I've had in the OC. Amber, the associate who helped me, was so incredibly helpful in giving recommendations. She had me try the espresso martini brownie, which is as good as it sounds - if not better. I left out having spent more than I planned to because of all her suggestions. So this review is also going to echo the rude service and "go on the internet" but also something I've never encountered from any bakery ever. Behold - when picking up the cake, they apparently don't have boxes big enough for their small cakes??? This makes absolutely zero sense. We could have easily changed our minds about the cake size if anyone from the bakery said "Oh we're sorry - we don't have that box size at the moment so you can risk it and have a kinda smooshed cake or you can change your cake size." But hey, I know it's just me - the amount of rudeness from April made me realize that ordering a cake from them was my fault; I can't believe I had questions about cake size and flavors when I should already know these things! So of course I should have known about the boxes as well! "Want a smooshed cake that will smell and taste like your refrigerator?
