Was going between 3 and 4 stars. Flavors are great but their ice cream is way too hard. Like you gotta really try and get it out with a spoon and put force into it. I dont like that, ruined the ice cream for me unfortunately because the flavors were great. I can't get over how hard and frozen the ice cream was though, not creamy at all. Impacted mu experience enough that I wouldn't go back, unfortunately . Banana pudding - the best in my opinion. Great flavor Ube coconut - good flavor! Kentucky butter cake - didn't taste like Kentucky butter cake , I tasted vanilla
Blue Scoop Creamery was such a great first visit, but Cece really deserves the shoutout here. Located in a plaza in Brea close to the freeway, this spot is easy to get to and has plenty of parking, including several 15-minute spots out front for quick takeout. The shop itself was very clean, spacious, and had plenty of seating. Even the bathroom was clean, which always stands out to me. They had 18 flavors available during our visit, including several vegan options, and it looks like they rotate flavors often based on all the flavor signs down the hallway. I also liked learning that their original Yorba Linda location is where all of the ice cream is made from scratch. Definitely makes me want to check that one out next. That said, Cece made the whole experience. We told her it was our first time and she was so friendly, patient, and welcoming from the jump. She let us try multiple flavors, gave us recommendations, pointed out the popular picks, and never once made us feel rushed. That kind of service really sticks with you, especially at a place with a lot of tempting options. She made the experience feel fun, easy, and genuinely hospitable, so shoutout to Cece for making a first visit feel like we'd been there before. We ended up doing the flight of 6 mini scoops to share, which was perfect for first-timers. We tried mint chippy chip, salted caramel, nana's banana pudding, Irish coffee, pot o gold, and Turkish pistachio. Great flavors, clean space, and excellent service. Blue Scoop is definitely worth checking out, and Cece absolutely made this visit a memorable one. Easy 5 stars.
I'm a sucker for great Ice Cream. I've been here multiple times over the last 5 yrs, but I had not thought of reviewing this place. But look, ifs so simple: this place is INSANELY GOOD. The ice cream here is out of this world. I just had the creamiest most flavorful vanilla and banana pudding scoop inside a waffle cone.... This ice cream shop is located in a shopping center that really has a little bit of everything (boba, coffee, bunch, In and Out...), so it was literally heaven sent. The location is perfect: who doesn't want desert after eating!!! The girl who took my order gave me a few options and let me taste a fe flavors. The quality is top not h as well as the cool 1950's milk shop vibe . Totally recommmwndb
Really good ice cream place with super unique flavors! We ordered the blueberry cheesecake; it had pieces of cheesecake, blueberry swirl and a hint of lime. This place seems like a popular late night dessert place. We came in around 10:00 on a Friday, and there was a small line, and a steady stream of customers the whole time we were there. Service was nice, there were only a couple people working at the time. Also a random positive, but I like that they use metal spoons for samples instead of wasting those small plastic throw away spoons. I saw they also sell pints of their ice cream in the freezer near the cash register. WIll definitely be back to try their other flavors!
Another gourmet ice cream shop in OC checked off! Just got around to trying this place. The ambiance is very warm and there is plenty of seating in the shop. When you first get in, you can ask for samples since their flavors always change with the seasons. They hand you samples on metals spoons, so the samples are pretty generous. I saw some reviews talking about the service. But, for me it seemed as if they were just really nervous or tired by the end of the day (they're all young) . The ice cream is definitely delicious as everything is made in house. We got the "Chocolate" and the "Cup of Cocoa." The chocolate wasn't too sweet and gave a salty aftertaste. Upon searching, I found out that their chocolate is dutch, so it made sense. The Cup of Cocoa was my favorite as it really tasted like a cup of hot chocolate. They have real mini marshmallows in it as well (which was a plus). They have really unique flavors, so I will definitely come back to try them. The prices are on par with all other gourmet ice cream shops (two single scoops for $11.50). One scoop definitely overflowed the cups they serve it in, so I would say that the portions are pretty good. Tip: get some napkins if you're taking out, since the outer edges will start melting. As for the parking, I think I spent longer finding parking then in the actual shop. The plaza is surrounded by In-n-out, Fogo de Chao, and some cafes, so it makes sense. But, I wasn't going to dock a star, since I'm just reviewing the ice cream shop. But, make sure you lower your expectations in finding parking. They have a few 15-minute spots up front, but if you want to spend some time in the shop, make sure you expect to spend about 15-20 minutes just looking for parking (on weekends/prime times). Will come back! A++
Review 82/365 Day Challenge Finally visited my fav local ice cream creamery at their 2nd location in Brea. Brought my cousin & his wife along w nephew to try Blue Scoop while waiting for our boba drink order at Omomo Tea Shoppe s few doors down. Located in the same plaza as Fogo De Chao, in n out n Omomo Tea Shope/Do Coffee shop. Unlike the original location in Yorba linda. This shop is a bit much smaller. No game room. Love how they churn their own ice cream at the shop. They have distinctive flavors with my fav Lavender honey. Have a lot of variety of ice cream flavor to choose from. The ice cream shop has dark blue walls with cool art canvas on display. Associates were really friendly. Parking can be a bit hard to find since it's a pretty busy plaza. Just have to be patent. It's always someone leaving.
Nothing like a scoop of Blue Scoop ice cream on a hot day or Friday night! All of their ice cream is lactose free which doesn't affect the taste of any of their ice cream whatsoever. Most people who go here aren't event mentioning it their reviews so they don't even know it's lactose free. They only have a small sign inside by their cash register that says their ice cream is lactose free. Their ice cream is very good with unique flavors! Portions are good for the price in my opinion too. You are able to try any of their flavors. I'm in love with their banana pudding and peach ice cream. It's so easy on my stomach and tastes great. My only critique is that their employees are a bit dry and don't seem like they want to work there.
I was craving something sweet and had seen this place. I was curious to try the icecream and it didn't disappoint! We came back the next weekend to try other flavors. They have plenty of parking, but keep in mind that it can que busy on the weekends. They have some 20 mins spots on the front. They have a nice seating area inside, or the benches outside work too. On our second visit we sat outside because there was an extremely loud party inside, we could still hear them through the glass. They have a good variety of flavors and are able to request for samples. I'm glad I did since I didn't like a flavor that I decided to trey before committing. On our first visit we got the sampler of 6 "small" scoops to try multiple flavors. This was a huge serving! We struggled to finish it, but we sure did. At the checkout area they sell packaged waffles and merch. On our second visit we both got a 1 scoop ice cream. Overall the staff were very friendly and helpful, the place was clean and welcoming, and the ice cream was delicious! I would compare to a salt & straw and cold stone kind of feel.
Me and my gf were craving ice cream and saw this place had good reviews. We were not disappointed! They had an ice cream flight and got to try 6 different flavors. They were all so delicious and definitely tasted homemade. Kaylen (I think that's how you spell it) was very kind and patient as we choose our ice cream. The place was big and looked clean. I will definitely be back
Very clean interior & friendly staff! So many unique flavors... Tried so many, ended up choosing coffee, salted caramel, Rocky Rhodes, Movie Munchies. Restroom was clean too. Which is always a plus, especially with kids. Great spot! All of the flavors were super sweet & creamy! One scoop is plenty haha!
Came here with two toddlers are they were so excited to be here. After wanting elaborate flavors in the way to Blue Scoop they ended up getting Chocolate and Vanilla. Both were simple and kept the kids happy. The boys did want sprinkles, but for over a dollar extra , that was a no for me. In fact, I didn't see anyone getting toppings while I was there. The young girl working the counter was -seemingly- alone on a Monday afternoon and it got kind of swamped while we were there. She handled it efficiently but had zero pleasantries. Barely a welcome in or a smile .. I know there were a lot of people, but you can still say hello when a customer approaches. The place was small with a capacity of probably 30ish (there were about 7 tables). It was clean, and it seems like they have a lot of rotating flavors. I wish they had some more interesting ones when we were there - my son wanted their cotton candy flavor but that wasn't in stock. All in all, it was just fine.

UPDATE I have been here 3 times and I can reassure you that this is a very cute place to just enjoy with your family and friends Seating inside is always available. Came here with friends after run club and in n out trips and there was always space. Service has always been kind and allows you to taste as many samples as you please. The ice cream choices are diverse! Theres at least 20+ each time Im there and the flavors are in rotation. My personal favorite is Blood Orange cause I dont prefer the milky tastes but regardless you cant go wrong! You can still take a nice walk to Kohler's to look at the beautiful expensive toilets or stop by the boba/coffee shops. If you really want to enjoy your time get ice cream and take it to the park across the street! read more

I am a HUGE Blue Scoop fan, so much that I had them catered for my wedding. Stopped by the ice cream shop yesterday and it was packed! Yay blue scoop. I love the flavors they rotate and Rocky Rhodes is one of my favorites. I love that they use cashews instead of almonds. 10/10 place I always love coming here and I have yet to have a bad experience or flavor I don't like. read more
Very slow!! Father's Day, line out to door and 2 folks working. Why did I wait, who knows. Since I was here I stood here. 30min later, I got to try a couple flavors and then just settled on the key lime cheesecake. It was ok. No regular sugar or cake cone, just a cup. Waffle cone. And gluten free cone (cake cone) was extra. I passed. It's ok. I guess if you live near here, it's your go to ice cream place. As for me, it's ok. read more

Super good! The place was a little hard to find because it was tucked away in the corner of a complex but once we found it, parking was plentiful and it was easy to get to. The shop was cute with a decent amount of places to sit. The line wasn't too long. They offer you the chance to sample the different flavors. So many good ones to choose from! I landed on a dirt sundae but I opted for the coffee instead of vanilla ice cream. It was topped with crushed oreos and the most delicious hot fudge ever. It tasted a bit more like dark chocolate and had a little gritty flavor. I heard it was made in house at their Yorba Linda location. It was absolutely delicious!! I highly recommend and look forward to my next visit so I can try something new. read more

Ice cream is the best summer treat! Blue Scoop Creamery serves delicious ice cream, and they offer generous-sized samples for you to try their different flavors. They have a seasonal menu and flavors that stick around for the whole year. I opted for the lemon cream cake, and it was lemony without being too overpowering. I really enjoyed this flavor! Just note that the lemon cream cake is a seasonal flavor, so try it while it's still on the menu! read more

First time trying their ice cream. I sampled the lemon sorbet which was really good, but ended up with a double scoop of diary ice cream that was specifically recommended by my friend's ten year old daughter (1 salted caramel, 1 brookie dough). She definitely knew where my heart was, given I devoured the two scoops so fast that my tongue got numb halfway through, but didn't bother slowing down. No regrets. Oh, and just $6.65 for a double scoop?! I'm a bit relieved there isn't a location near me. Glad I got to try this place, I'll be sure to have my friend take me here again the next time I visit her. :) Reason for a 4 star? Felt service could've been better. read more

Was in the area craving some matcha, however this ice cream spot had caught my eye and I've never heard of it before. Decided to give it a try, especially not knowing what were the reviews were saying. I decided to get my usual ice cream shake (strawberry / cookies and cream). Let me tell you this, the creaminess of the ice cream was through the roof and you can definitely tell the quality in the ice cream is high. Shoutout the two young ladies that took my order and took the extra precaution of when I told them that I had a nut allergy. The inside area was nice, lots of families were sitting down and enjoying their ice cream. Highly recommend and the pricing is definitely competitive read more
Been on my list of ice cream spots to try, for some time now. Glad I stopped by to try on a warm day. After a warm hello by the server and a couple of samples, with real spoons, not plastic or wooden. I got the lemon cream cake ice cream in a waffle cone. Made of all natural ingredients without artificial flavorings, this very flavorful ice cream melted on my tongue without overheating sweetness. The wake vibe was crispy enough and light. Blue Scoop creamery is a local gem. All of the ice cream is well made, and they even have dairy free options, which is well appreciated. I got a single scoop of the chocolate malt crunch, which was amazing. If you like whoppers candies this is definitely for you. They also had several other flavors and were gracious when we asked to sample them. Service was great. Everyone was really friendly. I really appreciated their share a scoop board. People can buy a scoop for someone and write a note explaining who it's for. If a customer comes in and finds themself resonating with a note, they can take it to the counter for a prepaid scoop. The inside is really clean and has a super cute rustic vibe. While we were there, we saw the employees frequently cleaning the tables as well as the trash cans. However, parking can be a bit difficult as it shares a lot with several other businesses, including Fogo de Chão . If you're planning on coming here account for enough time to find parking. read more

I've been back here a few times since my initial visit. Still have had positive experiences. Staff seem a little bland and not super welcoming. Every time I've gone it's fairly empty, today was no exception. Then ice cream though is very good. I tried the mint chocolate chip last time and it was very creamy with lots of chocolate chips in it. They still serve very generous portions too. read more

I am a HUGE ice cream lover, and must admit... when it comes to ice cream, I am PICKY!! But this spot was comparable to some of my favorite ice cream spots in LA - like Jenis and S&S. Blue scoop has a wide variety of interesting flavors, and you can sample as many of you would like. My favorite today was the blueberry cheese cake!!! DELICIOUS!!!! Cute place to grab a scoop. Their menu rotates and it seems like they have a big selection of flavors to choose from. I got the almond brittle with honey. It was pretty good. The ice cream was smooth and not icey so that was nice. The service was a little slow. I would come back to try other flavors. FYI the banana pudding flavor didn't taste like banana pudding. The sundae was massive -- and that was the small size! It's definitely big enough to share between 2-3 people.
