Stopped by last night for a nightcap. We were looking at the pastries and they looked delicious. I wish they were labeled so we could know exactly what they were. I came here for brunch and our waiter was Christian and he was amazing. He was so nice and friendly. He would come and check in on us and gave great recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised with this meal. First there was no wait, we walked in on a Sunday. We ordered fried calamari and it was good. Then we had the salmon with shrimp scampi and yuca mash. This dish was really good and we split it. For dessert we had the cookie skillet which was also good, the cookie was warm but to me the cookie could have been softer so it would be gooey. What a great time my first and I had. Ari our girl was just amazing, so patient with a group of 7 middle age Woman, we ended up staying for 5 hours just having a great time. If you would like to spend a relaxing time while dining please consider the day and time you go. Can't expect to sit 3 hours on a Friday when space is limited. Staff goes above and beyond for the customers and with limited seating they are doing the best that they can. Ambiance is everything here so it's comfy and cute. My family and I ordered drinks entrees and a bunch of cake. My brother had the oxtail risotto while we had the Churassco with Tostones. Presentation is everything and they showed out with the Pink drink and Churrasco garlic butter flamed table side. That steak was so juicy and tender cooked perfectly. We were moaning as we ate. I went for brunch with my husband, and it was our first time visiting. The space is charming and feels like stepping into a little princess room. The Victorian gold-framed mirrors are beautiful, the teacups are gorgeous, and I especially loved the Toile de Jouy patterned dishes. Even the bathroom carries the same decorative touch, which made the whole place feel thoughtfully styled. The service was just as lovely as the space. Leo was attentive and made sure everything was taken care of, and our server Kenny was wonderful. She was warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Very Disappointing Experience I made a reservation and was extremely disappointed with how everything was handled. Apparently, a deposit was required to hold the reservation, but I was never notified or told that a deposit needed to be paid. Instead of contacting me, they simply canceled my reservation. I even called to let them know that we were already on our way, only to be told there was no table because the reservation had been canceled. What made the situation worse was the way Luis spoke to me--he was extremely rude and dismissive. There was absolutely no reason for that kind of attitude, especially when the lack of communication regarding the deposit was not on my end. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. This bistro is so cute and charming. It has a modern Victorian, feminine, and floral pink aesthetic. It's very small. The service is excellent and so is the food. We had the steak empanadas that were so tender and moist on the inside and wrapped in a light and crisp shell. The seasoning was spot on--savory and well-balanced. We also had the Dominican breakfast which was delicious. The mangu was rich and paired so well with the fried salami, fried cheese, and the fried egg. The casava breakfast was also delicious-- it tasted like a deconstructed croquette. The Beso D'Angelo cake was delicious. Came to this location again today around 11am and had the tres leches pancake and my friend had the burger with egg on top. It came with a salad on the side that was really good. I also ordered the beef empanada which was so good. I loved my food and the service. This location is small but the staff here is nice and attentive. Oh my goodness!!!!! This place is just like an Alice in Wonderland the Dominican version. The attention to detail from the utensils, food, and the way they give you a check is artistically done. I got the Dominican breakfast (which is the tres golpes) and they don't skimp out on the cheese or Dominican sausage. I also got the oxtail mofogitos they are delicious. My wife order the tres leches pancakes and the sweet plantain chicken and waffles another dish that was delicious. The only thing I would have like to be better was the croissant on the breakfast burger. It wasn't that fresh, it tasted stale. The food portions were plenty. I've come to this establishment twice. First time I came for brunch: I had the casava dish with ropa vieja ... it was yummy (some parts were undercooked - but, it can happen with yucca so I didn't fault them). However, the tres leches pancakes we ordered were inedible. They were essentially cardboard. I brought it to the server's attention and she said that's how they are. I couldn't eat them - at all. I've had tres leches pancakes in other places and the texture was nowhere near this dry/firm/stiff/tasteless. I said as such (in nicer words) but there was no 'sorry' or let me see how can fix this/possibly redo them (they got such great reviews that there's no way this could be how they are). I went back a few weeks later to grab a coffee to go (as I waited for a friend) and the gentleman who took my order charged me incorrectly. I mentioned the price and my surprise and he doubled down. I paid ... but then showed him the price on the menu for item I ordered and he agreed there was an error in price and was going to get his manager for a price adjustment (the coffee I ordered was 8 and I was being charged 12). Unfortunately the manager decided to use the line 'prices have increased but haven't been reflected on the menus' ... ended up getting my money back and no coffee (coffee was already made and in my reach, but rather than doing the legitimate price adjustment, he did a full return and got rid of the coffee). I don't like being wasteful and I felt for the first gentleman I was interacting with - even he seemed shocked by the interaction. Needless to say, I will not return and I wouldn't recommend to anyone - bc of the service in the first visit and management decision in the second. read more

On my trip to NYC, we wanted to try something different and came across this place on TikTok. The food looked good so we decided to try it. Some places you find on social media is all hype, but Happy Cake Bistro lives up to it!! This restaurant is like Alice in Wonderland in the Dominican Republic!! The food was absolutely amazing! The twists to different dishes is so creative! We got the the hot chocolate crossaint which is literally delicious hot chocolate poured into the crossaint and topped with suspiro (Dominican frosting)! Our table also had the tres golpes (Dominican Breakfast), sweet plantain chicken and waffles, cassava breakfast, and the star of the show for me, the Tres Leches Pancakes. Everything was 10/10 but the pancakes for me were 11/10! They had perfect amount of milk and also topped with suspiro. The flavors together made this the best pancakes I have ever had. Salud to the chef!! Our waitress Kirsy was sweet, knowledgeable of everything and made great recommendations! Def recommend this restaurant and will be back on my next trip to NYC. Service: Unfortunately, the service was extremely EXTREMELY disappointing. I'm surprised to see people are saying Luis is a great waiter... He's awful. He was there with an attitude, moving like a turtle, and took 30 minutes to come to our table. To be clear, there was only 3 other tables sat when we were seated, and they all had their food and drinks already. It didn't make any sense that we sat there with no menus, no water, and no check-in for as long as we did. Luis sat us down but he didn't even give us menus, utensils, or water. Another waiter saw us sitting there, and gave us those things. Overall, Luis never checked in with us and we had to get up and go find someone to help us a couple times. I'm generally very patient but this was ridiculous. The Food: It was mid at best. The calamari was not seasoned at all, and tasted like I was chewing flavorless gum. The waffle from the Chicken & waffle, was chewy? and it had non-ripe plantains in. The bacon was so hard. The chicken was not that great either. My niece will eat almost anything, and she left that chicken there. I will say the empanadas were nice and the Diet Coke was perfect. I didn't bother to get dessert because on another table, two ladies crashed out because the dessert they received was stale and tasted old. I already was upset about the food and the slow service so I didn't want to get dessert to be further disappointed. Atmosphere: The restaurant's aesthetics was cute. I would not give this place another try. So expensive and terrible service and food. I should've gone to Inwood Bar and Grill. Maybe I'll be willing to give The Bronx location a try, but definitely not here. They need to fire Luis, get another cook, and strengthen the way they service. read more
