    Weekend in purris

Purrrrfect experience every time. The Happy Cat Hotel has spacious themed rooms for cats to stay while their owners are away. Some rooms are large enough to host multiple cats for those owners who want their kitties to share a room. The staff are delightful and take excellent care of my kitty every time. You get daily photos of your cat and can also pay to see a live video stream of your cat's hotel room so you can check on them. The rooms come with multiple beds and perches of a variety of heights, toys, water fountain, litter box, and food dish. Owners supply their own food. The hotel offers an upgrade for World's Best Litter, which is really nice. You can also pay for spa treatment while you are there. They also offer separate spa services for cats who are not overnight guests. Book way in advance (like 2 months if you can) because they do get booked up, particularly around holidays and in the summer. It is pricey... like $65/day on average but well worth it for the premium treatment for your kitty. I never feel guilty dropping my cat off here when I'm out of town.

It was my kitties' first experience of not being in our home or with my mom, their granhumom and the team did an amazing job helping my boys to settle in and keeping me posted on their overall wellbeing and interactions. The camera in the room and daily report with pictures of my little floof family made it possible for me to enjoy my first real vacation in years. I am incredibly grateful for the team and felt my boys were safe and cared for in my absence. I am so grateful for this team and their warmth and care for the kitties who come visit. Everyone I met was just incredible and warm and really seem to care.

    Playtime with the staff!

I recently adopted two brothers months ago and have spend everyday with them since I got them (~9 months). Leaving them was scary, I even cried at drop off (so embarrassing). Leanne was soooo sweet and assuring about how well they will be taken care of. My boys are on special diets, which they accommodated without any issues (they also have to be separated to feed). I got tons of detailed updates about every little thing they were doing and feeling. With tons of pictures attached! I paid extra for the live feed as I was on a cruise and unsure of when I would be able to receive the updates, and being able to check on them whenever I could was amazing! I would 100% leave my cats with them again without a single doubt. They came home happy, healthy, and of course ready to keep playing! All of the staff treated my boys like their own, it is hard to find someone/ an establishment that puts this much time, care, and love into their kitty clients. If you ever need to leave your cat for any reason this is the only place I would recommend to any cat owner. The establishment is so clean. All of the rooms have their own theme, it is something your cat will appreciate forever.

This place is purrfect for cats! It's clean, safe, quiet, and stimulating for cats! My super fluffy 10 year old Persian cat got a complete plush trim groom - Jackie and her grooming team did an amazing job! Almost a week later and he still smells great and nails are neatly trimmed and he looks so handsome with his fresh haircut. Only one cat is groomed at a time so it was done promptly and when we picked him up he was relaxed and at ease. The boarding rooms are all themed and we've booked an upcoming week stay when we will be out of town. We have had some horrible experiences with other groomers- who say they can groom cats but most definitely cannot, so finding Happy Cat hotel and spa made both my kitty and me very happy indeed!

Love this Cat Spa!! Jackie takes such good care of my fur baby and I love the deshedding treatment! Everyone in there is super friendly and it is always clean and organized inside. An Alexandria gem!!!

I took my 5 yo Maine Coon to the spa at Happy Cat. She's never been to a groomer, but had developed awful mats on her belly (she hates being brushed and won't let me brush her). I brought her in desperate for help as I know the knots were painful to her. Jackie and Emmie were absolutely amazing!!! Not only did they get they get the mats off but did an incredible job grooming her! She sheds less in the house now and is much happier!! Honey gave attitude to them at the end, but they respected Honey's boundaries and really were SO great with her! I'd definitely recommend them and bought the membership! So grateful for their care, kindness, and wisdom with my sweet Honey!!

Apparently she fought like hell, drugged up and all, but Jackie was able to make her look more than just decent.

In daycare, they're grouped by size & temperament. Rosie joined the other largely Generic Small White Dogs in the "Toy Box" playroom. Full day Care is broken up with doggie nap time around mid-day. Coolest: being able to spy on the play & sniff action via the live cams & access on the Dogtopia app. Kinda hard to explain to anyone nearby if you start laughing at the dog play, but that's Dogtopia!

Our vet bills became astronomical. Every time I asked what happened, I got the same response: "We don't know." Then came the excuses--she "probably ran into a wall." Once is an accident. Multiple times is a pattern. (Picture of her cut attached) When my dog was injured, there were never any real answers. Conveniently, the cameras always seemed to be unavailable whenever an incident occurred. Instead of transparency or accountability, I was met with excuses. The most heartbreaking part was watching my dog's personality change. She went from eagerly walking into daycare to planting herself on the floor and refusing to go into the back with staff. She had to be physically coaxed forward because she clearly didn't want to go. As her owner, it was obvious she was stressed. The customer service was just as concerning as the care. Marla was consistently defensive, dismissive, and unwilling to take accountability. I personally witnessed her raising her voice at customers, and I experienced that same treatment myself. It wasn't an isolated bad interaction--it was a pattern. She went as far as telling me that our dog "is a rescue, so it's not surprising she's a bad dog" Absolutely horrible and concerning for someone who's job is working with dogs from all backgrounds. There were also numerous times when our calls went unanswered, yet someone would immediately pick up if we called from a different phone number. Whether intentional or not, it left us feeling like our concerns were being avoided. What I cannot understand is why Jeff allows this level of customer service to represent his business. The way concerns were handled reflected a culture of excuses instead of accountability. The difference after leaving Dogtopia was night and day. We found a facility and trainer that prioritized structure, safety, and individualized care. Today, my dog is confident, relaxed, and genuinely excited to go to daycare. Looking back, I regret not leaving Dogtopia sooner. This was, without question, the worst experience I've ever had with a pet care business. If your dog can't tell you when something is wrong, you have to trust the people caring for them. Unfortunately, Dogtopia gave me every reason not to.

The Board Hound has been an amazing resource for me and my pup Finn. Finn is 2 years old and has…read moreextreme separation anxiety and is sensitive to...well just about everything. The Board Hound was recommended by the Animal Behavior Wellness Center (Fairfax) early in our journey. Everyday they balance group play with enrichment and learning (brain games). For example, last week they introduced Finn to bubbles and although he was tentative at first, with gentle encouragement he ended up loving the bubbles (the pics of his bubble exploration are in the attached report card)! This is just one example - they've not only reinforced my training but advanced Finn's training when it comes to reactivity (their training the "wait" command has been a godsend). The Board Hound's curriculum (my word) includes personalized care based on Finn's need, their recommendations are always given from their expertise and in the best interest of Finn. If Finn wants to be on the floor playing, in the suite resting, or needs one-on-one time, they accommodate regardless of what the "schedule" says. We recently moved houses and Finn struggled with the change and added stress. The Board Hound made me aware of the changes they had seen in his behavior and helped me manage his stress. They temporarily adjusted his day to ensure he was getting more rest, shortened his group play sessions to limit over stimulation, and increased his one-on-on time with the staff doing brain games and other activities. They provided updates and made sure I had a good sense of what they were seeing day-to-day. This reduced Finn's overall stress and made the transition to our new home easier. I cannot overstate how much I appreciate everything The Board Hound offers as support for my pup and his well being including the expertise of the staff, their excellent communication, and ongoing attentiveness to Finn's needs. I recommend their services to anyone.

After a few sessions, she started to play with all the dogs and became confident in her ability to socialize with puppies of different sizes. The puppy socials are on Sundays so it's very convenient for working dog parents. Additionally, they have staff in the sessions explaining what to do which we really appreciated! We learned a lot even though we thought we knew dog training very well. We never tried their other services but the staff is super nice and accommodating and highly recommend their puppy socials for new puppy owners. I believe they are $10 per session.
