Roasted Cream Corn and Bacon Mac & Cheese
    Allison R.

Update: they changed the recipe for the Mac n cheese and creamed corn and they were awful. Got rid of some sauces. Chicken used to be thick and juicy but now it's super thin and flavorless. Really disappointing. Used to be in our monthly rotation but kicking it to the curb now.

I got the little chick which is 2 chicken tenders, fries, and a dip. I chose the spicy tenders. They weren't too spicy but they were flavorful and juicy. I chose the garlic ranch as my dip. I would come back here just for their garlic ranch honestly. It was one of the best dips I've ever had! In the dining area you have to order through a QR code. It wasn't very efficient and we had problems with the order not going through so I would recommend just ordering all food and drinks at the bar.

Had a nice time going in and order my food to go. Sat at the bar and had a few Jell-O shots and a beer while I waited and talked to the staff. Very kind bar staff! The inside is cool with plenty of seating. I even saw a show upstairs at the comedy club the following night. The food was as good as it looked. Good spice on the tenders and all the sauces were amazing.

Say Happy Chicks Sixth Street may be dirty but this place is cleaner than a chicken coop. I wanted a quick place to grab lunch and took a seat at the bar. Apparently you order/pay for your chicken and drink on the phone and the staff brings it out to you. It's a bit futuristic but works well. The place is between a fast food joint and sports bar, and fits well on 6th Street. The chicken strips arrived in pairs with a side of fries. They were great! The chicken was hot and crispy and had a side of ranch. It was exactly what I needed between meetings. The decor is Austin eccentric and the staff is very nice and friendly.

Fast service, incredibly fresh food, and great drinks. I highly recommend the spicy chicken tenders with hot honey sauce and the white cheddar mac and cheese--absolutely perfect!

I was in Austin with a bachelorette group. The bride-to-be wanted a place that had TVs to watch a game while bar hopping. She is a big baseball fan. While looking, we happened to stumble into this place. What I like about this place is that you can order your food with a quick scan of a QR code located on the table. I thought it was smart and effective, especially in a pandemic. The chicken tenders were delicious. We even ordered a second one! This place is a great spot to eat while bar hopping in downtown Austin.

I've seen this place with a huge line on the weekend nights, but it's pretty lowkey if you wanna grab lunch on a weekday. I totally love that they're making it acceptable for adults to order chicken tenders, since theirs are simply amazing. Only complaint is that I ordered a Jumbo Chick for takeout and didn't get a bacon mac & cheese; they gave me two creamed corns though. Original Chicken Tenders: These are no Tyson tenders from the freezer section! They are thick and juicy and covered in a crunchy batter. And they're pretty darn filling! Only downside is if you take any as leftovers, they're a bit limp reheated... so just eat them all at once in the first place! Country Gravy: This is white gravy, not the brown kind you get at Thanksgiving. It added a nice creamy texture, but it was kinda bland. Garlic Ranch: Tasted like regular old Ranch to be honest. But ranch is a great pairing to chicken tenders. Roasted Cream Corn: Wow, this side was awesome! Roasted corn, with nice blackened bits, in a creamy soupy sauce. Very rich and filling, a little goes a long way. Fries: These were a tad disappointing. KInda limp. Some sort of seasoning smeared on before frying, but not that memorable. It's weird this came out of the same deep fryer that made those masterpiece tenders. Gooey Butter Cake: This was the sleeper hit! One of the best desserts I've had in Austin. So buttery. So gooey. So soft. It was pure deliciousness. I might come here again just for the cake!

The food at this place was pretty good as far as the chicken tenders out of the recommended it the bar area was nice pretty much a rectangular shape setup flat screen TV spaced out perfectly bartenders were attentive it definitely a spot I would go back to for the sports to meet up has a little bit of a cheers vibe to it right on the strip no issues whatsoever Grade: A

I came on a small trip with some peeps and I've become a big fan of just plain chicken tenders with a side of fries. Well this just elevated what I expect chicken tenders to be. I ordered a couple of chicken fingers that came with fries and hot the amazing honey sriracha sauce which made this meal much better. I sat and enjoyed a beverage as I waited for my meal and and it called my attention that there was a disco chicken hanging bright like a diamond. I learned from the person who took my order that it was custom made and designed specifically to their likings which just gave another level of authenticity to the place. This place is also open at night with good music and vibe, so overall a great spot in 6th street and near the hotels. Can't wait to come back and enjoy the amazing and vast options of chickens that they have!

Four of us came here trying to get some good food after a show we saw. I should have known that if there is no wait on a Thursday evening downtown the place cannot be that amazing. We seated ourselves, the food and drinks took a long time to come out and there were two staff in the entire place. I will say the chicken disco ball was the hi-light for me. It is a cool chicken disco ball above the bar and that brought me a lot of joy! The ambiance of the place was only mediocre for me. I get it, it's a chicken place how dazzling could it be!? Lol the guy who dropped off our food pointer around a corner and said if you want water help yourselves. We were so hungry we just gobbled our food down but it was not well flavored and did not taste wonderful. The sauce was better on the chicken than anything else! I must say the fries were well seasoned and cooked perfectly! The bill was affordable and you pay before you eat so when we were done I thought it was cool how we could easily take off! The server was pretty nice when he dropped the food off. Sadly I probably will not be coming back here.

We started with the fried green tomatoes. They didn't quite beat the unforgettable ones from The Front Porch Cafe at Dollywood, but they were still tasty and we happily finished them. I ordered the 2-piece dark meat while my cousin got the 2-piece white meat, both with baked beans, slaw, and white bread. The baked beans and slaw were both satisfyingly delicious. When my plate arrived with a thigh and two legs, I thought I had ordered wrong! Our wonderful server, Kamber, explained that the legs were especially small that day, so they have to serve two instead. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and delicious, and I loved learning they use peanut oil. The fresh, natural quality definitely came through. And placing the white bread underneath the chicken? Brilliant--it soaks up the extra oil! Service was fast, friendly, and efficient even though it was a busy Friday lunch hour. Amber was great about answering our questions and regularly checked up on us. She even introduced us to their homemade Chess pie--a classic rich southern custard dessert pie--which we were too full to try this time, next time for sure. We'll be back, especially since there's another location in San Antonio. Next visit, I'm coming hungry for the fried okra, mac & cheese, and seasoned fries! Just wish they also have corn on the cob and corn bread as other sides options. Southern fried chicken craving: officially satisfied.

They are a spicy chicken establishment and their spicy chicken comes in different shapes and sizes from bone-in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and nuggets. It hits every time. The mayonnaise, the pickles, the perfectly crisp chicken: you can't miss it. As a side, I ALWAYS without fail get their Tater Tots. They are consistently crispy while remaining soft on the inside. Sometimes I will get it seasoned with their Tingly Sichuan, but the heat is sometimes too much. I cannot recommend the tots enough. Spicy Boys is one of those places that is always there for you. They are consistently open and the people making the orders are putting a ton of dedication into making them smack every time. The sandwich alone comes at $9.50 with the tots at $3.50, which seems on par or slightly lower than a typical food truck if my memory serves me right. I've been to their location off 6th street, but I couldn't remember a thing. Here, I knew I wouldn't forget. Happy Chicks off Burnet is small. There's like 5 tables inside, and the line's path wraps around them. Their menu is simple. Chicken fingers? If so, how many? I ordered their Happy Chick with 3 tenders that I got spicy. All orders come with fries plus an extra side and a sauce. I got a side of their mac and cheese and some honey mustard. Chicken is an uphill battle especially if it's cooked shortly after ordering. 10 minutes later, and our food was served to us outside. The breading on those tenders was intense. They were crispy with an earth-shattering crunch with plenty of flavor. The spicy was not spicy whatsoever. Just a slightly more seasoned tender. The fries were crispy and a pretty standard affair at a local spot like Happy Chicks. The mac was a great side choice as I thought they did a pretty nice job with them as well. The prices were pretty fair with a chicken sandwich costing $9.99 and my 3-piece meal costing me a cool $12.50 There's so many chicken tender spots going around in Texas, but it's always cool to come to an Austin-localized spot to mack down on some poultry. The fries were crispy and crunchy, and the fruit cup was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. I will definitely be back!
