Wow! I am impressed! I discovered Happy Cow just days after having a discussion with a friend about how I may never will be able to try a Loco Moco due to me being a vegetarian. Low and behold, Happy Cow offers a plant-based Beyond Burger patty version of this popular Hawaiian dish! They also have on the menu a vegetarian version of their burger and a variety of options for their meat eating clientele. I ordered my husband a BBQ Pork Loco Moco and myself the plant-based version. I made the order over the phone but they also do have the option to put in orders through their website. The verdict? Yummy! After a few bites I doubled checked the receipt just to make sure that they, in fact, made me the vegetarian version for me. The Beyond patty is so convincing I was sceptical that they may have made me a regular one by mistake. After I gave my husband his order, he quickly assumed that he was going to have leftovers for dinner since the serving size is pretty hefty. When I returned to his office a few moments later to bring him a napkin he was already half way through the dish. "I lied. There is not going to be any leftovers after all. It's that good. " I'm so glad I now know of this place and am looking forward to trying other items off the menu. read more

Not gonna lie to you folks. Don't waste ya change on this middle school cafeteria looking ahh food. Milkshake taste like expired baby formula. Easy bake oven looking ahhhh burger served with a side of nothing. Their Beyond burger is very good, but not truly vegan. My constructive feedback would be to give the customer options! Vegan mayo and vegan cheese will only expand your customer base to include vegans. Their Coconut Bliss vegan milkshakes are divine! I highly recommend the Caramel Macchiato and the Mint. They have a Loco Moco (a Hawaiian dish) with Beyond meat instead of beef. I didn't care for the large rice portion though. Also, it had egg on it and no veggies, so a huge dealbreaker for someone vegan. If you'll give the customer the option to put some tofu and veggies on it, again, you'll expand your customer base. read more

I was there for a pick up order this afternoon, the gentleman with the ponytail has no customer service what so ever. I don't know if he owns the place or just works there. He didn't acknowledge me when I walked in, I made him look at me to even know that I was there for a pick up order. After 10 minutes or so, he walks out and yells your orders are ready as he proceeds to go next door to deliver someone's else's food. He started yelling and being rude. That was not my first encounter with this same gentleman at this location. Customer service is a big deal to me, especially when money is a factor. I have worked in the food industry for over 20 years and this is not acceptable behavior, especially if that person is the owner. read more

I really want to give this spot a chance, and I'll try again, but I would like a sincere promise that they will do better following COVID safety protocols. As a lifelong resident of the neighborhood I was heartbroken to see Humble Bagel go, and so happy to see a cool-seeming breakfast and burger joint in its place. Unfortunately, when I just tried to go grab some breakfast, the gentleman working the register had his nose sticking out of his mask. I assumed it was just for back of house and waited for him to adjust it but he didn't. I then politely asked him if he wouldn't mind covering his nose and he did it but gave me serious attitude about it. I made a joke about how that's like walking around with one's member sticking out of one's pants but then realized I was legitimately upset and had to leave. I take COVID safety seriously because I have an senior mother and a young daughter, and I neither want my mom to die alone on a ventilator nor for my daughter to watch me suffer for possibly months. I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just scared. So I can't review the food because I left the place in tears. I know it's hard to mask up, especially while cooking, but everyone knows the law here and there's no excuse. With the students coming back and partying everywhere, we're staring down an outbreak the likes of which Lane County has not yet seen. I haven't attempted to walk into a restaurant since the pandemic started--curbside and delivery only for me--and I made an exception because I want this space to succeed. So far, five stars. Good, fresh, no BS food is what we got from this establishment - twice already First time we picked up - Burgers, fries, milkshakes. Second time delivery by GrubHub - HappyCowHash & MocoLoco. Both times food was very good, portions generous, fries fried perfectly, meats juicy and burgers plump, milkshakes sweet and rich. Vegan burger and vegan milkshakes here are insanely good. My husband got animal product versions of both and said the same, just to die for! The outside seating is beautiful and quant. The inside is decorated very sweet and just as clean as can be which I really admired. read more

First, this place is adorable. I love the decor! My daughter and I stopped in for a bite on a Saturday afternoon. They were not too busy so that part was great. The menu is small as far as choices but what is on it sounded great. I opted for the bulgogi burger because I was sold on the description from the employee of it being a marinated patty. It was AMAZING! The sweetness added by the marinade made it perfect. The sweet potato fries were great too. I was not a fan of the house sauce only because I am team Mayo base and NOT in team Miracle Whip but hey...you do you. I'll go two stars because i previously enjoyed their food, i went in tonight and in 5 minutes saw two incredibly foul health code violations: first the kid working the till, handling cash then immediately touching food, including things like buns and produce (several times) and then the older fella coming out of the rest room i was waiting for, wearing his apron, then jumping back on the line grabbing utensils without washing his hands as soon as he got back on the line. I asked about this and he immediately got an attitude. I just asked for a refund and left. I started in kitchens in 1992, culinary degree in 1998, ServSafe in 2004 and i can recite the oregon health code in my sleep. I moved back to Eugene last summer after 32 years in Honolulu. I know Hawaiian take-out food. The Happy Cow's version of Loco Moco is possibly the best I've ever had, more gourmet than normal with a hint of ginger. For the un-educated, Loco Moco is rice, a hamburger patty, a fried egg and brown gravy, four basic food groups. Loco Moco is my new go-to meal at my new go-to place. Happy Cow adds onions and cucumbers to its Loco Moco, the cucumbers are a great addition. read more

This place is really great! I was told by the cashier/chef that they buy all of their meat from local farmers. The food was delicious! The Asian salad with peanut sauce was excellent! Holy cow this place is great. My meal routine had gotten pretty boring during lockdown and I decided to try something new. I ordered carry out from them tonight and for the price these portions are superb. I got the Kimchee Loco Moco and my partner got the Happy Cow burger. This loco moco is one of the top loco mocos I've ever had. I was instantly transported to a hawaiian beach after a long morning of getting pitted in the waves. Ordered pandemic delivery. I had a salad with grilled chicken and tahini dressing. I thought it was really good! Lots of stuff in it with fresh greens- yum! Hubs got a burger and fries. He was grouchy so I'd take his review with a grain of salt. He didn't like the burger. I thought the fries were good. This little place was tucked in between a couple other places. We had a little trouble finding it with the Yelp directions. Then, there it was. As soon as we walked in I felt this was exactly what we were looking for. We were hungry from a day of travel and shopping. It wasn't busy and we ordered at the counter. Our server was very helpful and we followed her suggestion of the basic Happy Cow Burger. It came with a sweet/spicy mayonnaise. She assured me it wasn't real spicy. I trusted her and was not disappointed! The burger was big and beautiful, just like our lovely server. We had sweet potato fries with our delicious burgers that were nice and crispy. She gave us extra special mayonnaise that we dipped our fries in. What a great combination! There's outside seating in a sheltered nook in front of the restaurant.
