The igniter on my Weber BBQ stopped working 2 days before Super Bowl Sunday. I made a stop at Happy Days Ace Hardware not expecting to find what I need since my Weber is years old, but lo and behold, the moment I walked in I was greeted by multiple employees ready to assist me. Christopher walked me over to the BBQ igniters, immediately found me the one I think will match my model, rang me up, and I was literally out of there in less than 5 minutes. This store is sad. On my last two visits they were out of key items. Both times I was told that the items would likely be in at the next delivery. I needed to drive 4 miles to larger Ace that almost always has the entire Ace catalog in stock. Also, being closed two days a week is another inconvenience. Unlike other Ace stores the staff is not that helpful. Although the location is convenient, I've wasted too much time going there on to find out they are out of stock on many items. From now on I'll just drive to Van Nuys where the stock is complete, the hours are better, and the staff more helpful. read more

Customer service. I'm really trying to 'buy locally' these days. Rather than order everything online, I'm trying, but experiences like this remind me why I started buying online to begin with. I've worked in retail too. These people know nothing about customer service. 3 people behind the counter, 2 people in front of the counter, the floor scattered with tools and screen-making gear. I step over to continue to look for the power drills. After exhausting my search of the entire store without anyone asking me anything... I say aloud (to no one in particular) "I'm looking for a power drill?" The kid making screens points to the isle and says "there over here bro" Fuck. I hate that. Bro, or dude? The worst. I select the one I want instantly having researched it...ONLINE, now everyone's gone again. So I hold the drill up and out as far as I can as it's chained to the wall. The old man making screens with the kid comes over, I say "I'd like this one". He makes that cupping motion with his hand on his ear because he's apparently hard of hearing. I say more loudly, "THIS ONE". He goes behind the counter to the locked display case...he's looking, and looking, now the kid goes over and starts looking... Finally the kid comes over and says "we don't have that one, we have the next model up ($40 more)...we don't have the one you want" and returns to the screen project. I return the drill back to it's display and say cheerfully "thank you" and leave. I've gone in there 3 times since 2017 and will NEVER return. It's back to Amazon Prime for me. read more
