Once in awhile I'll pick up a dozen donuts for work. The place I usually go to is closed for remodeling so I decided to try Happy Donuts. As I was parking, I see two other customers walking in so that was a good sign. I wait my turn in line and order a dozen donuts. Glazed, sugar, old fashioned and chocolate. This place has so many food reviews so I'm excited to get to work and eat my usual 3 donuts. I usually eat a glazed, sugar and chocolate because I can't decide between them. These donuts tasted like white bread with sugar on top. I'm not sure how to explain it. They have too much flour? Too chewy for a donut. Definitely not what I was expecting. I couldn't even get rid of the dozen donuts and that says a lot considering I work at a place with over 30 employees. So, so disappointed. It was a waste of money. The customer service was good. My daughter and I had a craving for donuts at 4pm. We went here, and we were greeted warmly. The person working was making sure everything was clean, and there was a process in place to maintain distance and cleanliness. The donuts? Delicious! We had been to Happy donuts yesterday afternoon. We got a French donut, a maple donut, a vanilla sprinkle donut and an old fashioned donut. After billing for this, we decided to get apple fritters too. The sweet lady at the counter not only charged us less for the fritters but also threw in 4 donut holes for free. We came home warmed the donuts for about 20 seconds and the microwave and lo behold! They were the most delicious melt in your mouth kind. 5 stars for customer service and 5 stars for the donuts. read more

Cream-filled donut holes, cream-filled chocolate donut, cream filled glazed and apple fritter SO GOOD! Upon request, you can have almost any donut filled with your favorite fillings. I pre-ordered my donuts b/c I picked up in the afternoon which is bad timing for spontaneity when it comes to purchasing donuts b/c they are usually out by then. She saved me my donuts and I came in about 15 minutes to pick them up. THe apple fritter is just perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside (not too soft). The donuts taste fresh. Their regular glazed donut was so light and fluffy, I wish I had gotten a few more! I also got their chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting which was also good. Only 1 star off as they dont take card, I was lucky enough to have some cash on me when I usually dont, but they do accept PayPal and such read more

It's rare for me to yelp a place. But Happy Donuts is exceptional!! The donuts are sooooo good. A cruller is difficult to do well, so I was happily surprised at the perfection I found at this little donut spot. Blueberry cake donut was very good, the cinnamon twist was loved by all, and my kiddo didn't even share her dozen donut holes. Very reasonably priced, worth the trip just for these donuts. read more

Stopped by Pizza Guys and was craving a donut.So,while I waited,I stopped in and got one.Asked how much an apple juice was and was told $1.75,which is a little more than I was willing to spend.So I opted for just the donut.The lady was really nice and friendly who helped me,but the donut was amongst the worst that I have ever had.It could have been due to the time of day (it was around 1pm so they could have been hours old).I'll probably give em another chance earlier in the day and then re-review at a later date. read more

Great donuts and inexpensive, but have cash with you. This place actually had buttermilk bars, where other places didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked for one. They're perfectly crispy! And if you, like me, are sick of your coffee choices being some certain large corporations that don't even have coffee in their coffees anymore or thick dark brews that are designed to coat your insides, then go here to Happy Donuts and get a large, cheap cup of good coffee. Best donuts I've ever had. They are fresh, clean, and not soaking in grease. I don't feel like I just ate fried dough after I leave here. My favorite are the glazed, and the double chocolate cake donuts. My husband loves their old fashioned, especially maple. My 3 yr old son never liked donuts before we came here, and now he asks for donut holes almost every morning (of course, we don't get them every morning!).The ladies behind the counter are just the friendliest people you'll come across, especially in a donut shop! I cannot say enough good things about this place, and we will truly miss it when we move and they aren't across the street anymore. read more

They make some of the best french donuts if not the best french donut! It is always soft, light and crisp!! They will do special request if you ask 24 hours ahead. My father loved going there to pick up some coffee! Overall, there selection of donuts are awesome! Also, the lady there is very nice and cared for each customer coming in. She would even add a couple of donuts holes in your bag if she likes you (She likes everybody!) Just don't expect it all the time... Oh one last thing, sometimes if you go early in the morning, they have donuts coming out fresh and those are the best tasting donuts... yum!!! read more

We have been coming here for years, the family that runs this business has seen my sons grow up from babies to the boys they are now. Great donuts and better customer service. Me and my boyfriend came to San Jose to visit our good friends and found ourselves awake at 7 am hungry for donuts. We decided to take a walk around the neighborhood and found our way to this little family owned gem. The owners were friendly and generous as we had discovered they only accept cash and we only had about $10 between us. We wanted to purchase donuts for ourselves and our sleeping friends and we weren't sure if we would have enough. The lady told us we could get our donuts now and pay for them later. WOW! I drove by Happy Donuts at least 6 times a week for years and never stopped in. It wasn't until my friend suggested we stop in for coffee. The owner lady was so genuinely nice and helpful and she made a fresh pot of coffee for us. I was really impressed with how good the coffee tasted. We also got a bran muffin top that was nice and crispy on the edges and top and perfect in the middle... loved it! I've been in 3 times since just for the coffee and muffin and haven't been disappointed. It's so much better than Starbucks for coffee and a muffin and kinder to the pocketbook! I love the donuts from here! They always test FRESH and perfectly made. Their donut holes are TO DIE FOR. They don't have that day old weird donut taste, they taste like legit glaze donuts made into holes. Come early on a Sunday because it looks like they sell out fast. I usually only get sugar donuts and I saw the lady in front of me got the last ones. I asked the young man if they had anymore and he said they didn't but he could make me some out of the plain donuts. What great customer service! The donuts are made to perfection, they say getting your donuts first thing in the morning is the best, I on the other hand stopped by late in the day. Still the quality and taste shows for its self.
