Great place for a pit stop if you're in the area. I got a caramel-glazed yeast donut, which was surprisingly light and airy; you feel the richness in the donut itself but not so much the glaze, so it doesn't become overpowering. Manley's serves one of the very best raised glazed doughnuts around. It's every bit as good as Krispy Kreme , not nearly as greasy as Stan's and not as sweet as Happy. It's just perfect. For the doughnuts I would readily give 6 stars. So why 3? Because the place is a bit of a disgrace for this wonderful neighborhood. It's totally unpleasant to sit and have a cup of coffee and a doughnut there. I recommend take-out only. The seating area is stashed with "stuff." There are three lonely booths along the wall and an empty space in the middle of the room where tables should be. The windows are covered with a film to keep the sun out; but the effect is extremely cheap-looking unattractive from the outside. There must be a better solution to the sun problem. The Venetian blinds inside are in sad shape. The newspaper stand looks like it is stacked with discards. I have been looking for cronuts for quite some time. So when I saw pictures I just HAD to come and try some. I got two regular donuts, 2 cronuts, and a Vietnamese coffee. The regular donuts were tasty and soft. But the cronut was disappointing. The ones that I have had are flaky like a croissant where there is layers you can peel. But it was too much sugar, I took one bite and didn't eat the rest. The coffee needed milk and sugar big time. So had to wait until I got home. I will stick to Lee's Vietnamese coffee. read more

This is the second time that I have gone there and the second time that I have been over charged. The first time I let it slide but this second time that I decided to go back to ask for my correct change she refused to give me my correct change. She charged me the price of a dozen for a half dozen. She also lied and said she charged me for specialty donuts, like jelly ( I did not get or ask for a jelly) apparently red velvet donuts cost more but she failed to tell me when I was choosing. They don't value walk in customers. Slow helping people in line as you watch the employee that fills ordered donuts filling them at a rapid rate. Donuts that leave the toilet seat up, say "What are you looking at?" in bars, and won't ask for directions (but can fold a map). I got a maple old-fashioned, a jelly, and a bear claw. For research purposes. The apple-filled bear claw was the best, and the apple filling is sweet and tart. The maple coating was thick... they must be trying to get rid of it. Decent donut shop with a good variety of fried doughy goodness. I've only sampled their regular glazed donuts so I can't speak for their other varieties. It was good! Dough was light and fluffy. My only gripe is that they charge you $0.25 fee to use a credit card! But not too big of an issue. The inside was a little old but most doughnut shops aren't modern. All in all, solid place to grab a donut on the go but I probably wouldn't go out of my way just to drive here to get one. read more

Going in I sort of expected very fancy donuts because this was a replacement for what was supposed to be mochi donuts for my coworkers. Buttermilk bar: 6 out of 10 rating Had a good crunch on the outside but the middle cakey part didn't have the usual buttery taste it should have. We live close by but since my husband fractured his foot we are rewarding ourselves. Now that Manleys is on DoorDash I really went crazy. There are no better donuts anywhere. I ordered a dozen and extra filled and fritters etc. They gave us donut holes to be generous. The box is filled and I am eating more than I should. So fresh and very large. They got here in minutes. This place is awesome. With the demise of Lou's Donuts, Manley's is in serious contention for the best donut place in the county. Their donuts are pretty much uniformly fresh & delicious, and I especially recommend the Maple & Chocolate Buttermilk Donuts, as well as the custard-filled rounds (which I believe only come in Chocolate). They sell out of many/most varieties very early. Even on a weekend, going at, say, 10 am, is not a particularly good idea. This place opens at 5 am on weekdays (and possibly on weekends; I'm not sure - maybe they open at 6), and it definitely favors the early birds. They also sell cold milk, which to my way of thinking is an absolute necessity for a donut store. Why do donut places even sell soda? The idea of drinking a Pepsi or Mountain Dew with donuts is revolting. As several others have already noted, this place is cash only. There's an ATM-equipped 7-11 in the same very small complex, however. Oh, and if you buy a dozen, they generally throw in a 13th donut for free, generally a glazed, or one of the other more generalized varieties, thus creating the proverbial "baker's dozen." Its a nice, old-school touch. It should also be noted that there is a discount for purchasing a half-dozen, as well as a dozen. They also have egg-cheese-and-sausage-or-bacon based breakfast sandwiches, croissants, and one or two other things beyond straight donuts. read more

I used to like this place (at least I thought) and I chose this place over Donut Basket which is also nearby. Boy, did I regret. I will probably not return to this place for the following reasons 1. Donuts are in direct sun getting all warm. Please use shade! 2. Donuts are way too greasy. You can squeeze oil. You get a nice thick coating of oil in your mouth as you eat. 3. Watch out for that dozen donut price. No friendly warning but extra 0.75, 0.25 charges for certain donuts. Extra charge even for French? Oh come on... Land mind of donut picking.. 4. Donuts were all melting and stuck together in the box. Yuck. This is why I like Yum Yum or Dunkin as they use flat box to keep your donuts nicely laid out. So in short, if you like no smile and greasy donuts at extra charge, this could be place for you. For me, I'd rather be dunkin' at somewhere else. Just sitting here watching the CAL game and they are making me so mad I can't stand it any more so in order to not throw a book at the TV, I have to blow off some steam by writing a review. Can CAL play any worse this season? They can't keep one quarterback playing but have to switch back and forth, over and over again. Not as much as I used to because as I have gotten older I realize that they just aren't that good for you. Plus all the carbs give me the rush, then crash that mess up my day, affect my working and I can't have that anymore. Got to keep a clear head in these difficult times. Did I tell you that CAL is giving me a headache? However, I still get a donut here and there and in my valley there is only one place to go, Manley's. Manley's makes awesome custard filled donuts, my favorite donuts of all, their coffee is also very good. Never tried their jelly filled ones because jelly filled are just too sweet for me. They also make a lot of other great kinds too; apple fritters, chocolate sprinkles, raised, old-fashioned, etc. Plus, the coffee isn't bitter or sour because it's usually made fresh several times a day. In fact, they also make their donuts every morning before the 6:00 AM regulars begin to file in for their daily sugar/caffeine fix. It's kind of a neighborhood tradition to get here as early as possible before work. Speaking of work, CAL has a ton of work to do if they expect to make it to a bowl game this year, I mean a REAL BOWL, not the Emerald Bowl, an actual bowl that I would want to go to in freezing December because they ain't making a January game. The staff is also very nice and friendly and they don't care if you sit and read the papers for free that are lying around. If they had wireless, I would spend more time here because it's usually quiet even though spending a lot of time in a donut shop is not really for me like it is for other people. Other people wouldn't even be spending their time watching a game on Saturday night, they would be out somewhere but it appears that I am an idiot.
