Excellent lunch spot for this neighborhood. I was beyond happy that I found Happy Fast Food right around the corner from my auto mechanic. My tummy was happy. My wallet was happy. I walked in to expect the food aroma. But this restaurant doesn't smell like other Chinese restaurants. It's because they have separate ventilation systems. Kitchen smell doesn't flow into the dining area. No wonder a customer walked in and said "it stinks". But he told the manager how delicious the food was last time. That was why they returned. Yeah, where can you find lunch for less than $9.00? Lunch combo comes with soda, egg roll, 2 scoops of rice and one entree. I ordered Curry Chicken. Now I see where the negative reviews are coming from.... I placed an order online via BeyondMenu. Everything went well until I got there and Ms. Happy told me that the order had been cancelled. I assured her that it had not been cancelled and showed her my receipt on my phone. She didn't care what I said and pretended not to understand me. She repeatedly asked me if I wanted to place an order. When I called BeyondMenu they said that the order had gone through. Ms. Happy took my phone and told BeyondMenu that she did not want to use their services any longer. It was obviously the first that they were hearing of it from her. I got a refund from BeyondMenu. The menu selections are typical. The food looks like short cuts have been taken, as is typical in most Chinese restaurants these days. I went to happy fast food caise it was on my way to work. I had the shrimp fries rice with chicken. The restaurant didn't habe an inviting atmosphere. It reeked of stale old oil. The lady behind the cash register was not friendly at all. I could tell she hated her job. The food quality was atrocious. The chicken. Was drowned in cook oil. Ignore outdated post with outdated references. This food is great and cheap. Comes with some badass lunch specials (that include drank, minus the alcohol). Portions are generous. My family always gets the chicken with vegetables, the meat is always good and they use legit vegetables, probably bought from the fiesta across the parking lot. read more

If I could give a zero I would !! They didn't allow me to eat inside although they had tables and chairs. I ordered and the lady was very rude and had an attitude. Considering that I'm familiar with the area I kind of understand why service is so terrible but then again doesn't necessarily justify it because lotus right next door/ across the southwest is beloved by most Houstonians , famous athletes, rap musicians, i even have family members that drive hours from home to taste lotus & loved it but service is awful from the little Asian lady behind the counter she's very rude & has a horrible attitude. Then it is true you cannot eat your food inside of the place you have to get your food & leave. So you're telling me I'm patronizing your establishment & I cannot sit & eat my food ? Ok. This is a great fast food jewel hidden in a shopping strip. The food is always fresh and made to order. Best thing to do is call in the order and pick it up as you can't eat in the establishment. They have soups, chicken, Chinese food, fried fish and shrimp and the prices are very reasonable. They used to have little bonuses like when you order $15 of food you get 2 free egg rolls (so it's worth bringing up when you order). I've had the vegetable soup and it's soooo good when it's cold outside or when you're sick. I was sick for about a week and had their soup 3 times that week. My family and I love the hot garlic chicken and their fried rice. We also would get the fish nuggets too on a regular. This place is definitely a regular for us. read more

Good Food! Cheap price! Mom and Pop establishment that only serves food to-go. It's best to order before you get there as it usually takes 15 -20 min to get your food if it's not busy. The lady at the register is always nice and explains to you the difference between the General Tso Chicken and the Orange Chicken since they look the same but taste different. Most of the food is decent. Love the spicy garlic chicken. I had the shrimp burger once and it was so horrible, I couldn't even eat it. The prices are great. Four (huge) chicken wings with a generous helping of shrimp fried rice costs under $7. Everything is made to order, so it's better to call in your order, then pick it up (no dine-in allowed). I accidently found this restaurant one day. I have tried the chicken wings with french fries, the fish burger, Gen. Tso (Gen. Joe's) chicken with fried rice and broccoli. I also love their egg rolls and catfish nuggets with fried rice and french fries. I have loved all of these foods here. All of the the foods have been delicious!
