I drove 40 miles just to get a massage here only because I wanted to give my 2 cents about the people complaining about the tipping and the lady in charge. It took me an hour to get there and I called just to make sure they had a male masseur for me. My appointment is at 4:30 pm, with Tom. It seems like Tom has been working there for a long time now because I seen the reviews on him way back. Tom has great skills, there's a couple of things I like about Tom's technique. Like I. The beginning when you're laying face down, he slides his hands up and down your back to feel for knots, not like most places, they start pushing from your neck to your feet. Tom finds the knots and tells you where is at and what strength he recommends you to use. I also like his head massage, the way he twists my head to the left and right, I thought he was going to crack my neck lol, is kinda scary if you're not used to them cracking your neck. But he doesn't, he just holds it down a couple of seconds. Now most Chinese massage places don't include the feet massage with the body massage but this place does. Overall, it was a good therapeutic massage. People complained about the lady in the front is rude, actually she isn't, is just the way she is, I mean is all business to her, you choose what type of massage you want and she takes you to the private room or the open area recliners, she tells the MT what you want and how long. She's the boss, she's not there to socialize and answers questions. All Chinese massages are the same, is not like the American ones, they always start off as deep tissue and it hurts but you can always tell them "soft/softer ". 90 % of them don't have a certified massages therapist, if you see them on the wall and is in black and white, is photoshopped copy unless it has a shiny gold star and colors on it, then is real. Most of them don't have the knowledge of what a body massage is, they just see what others do and they do the same. Over time they get better. The second thing is the tipping. Is a one on one massage. They knead using their forearms and elbows sometimes hands, pinching, grabbing, pulling, pushing and sometimes a couple of slapping lol is hard work and you people tips them $5, they don't get the $40, $50, or $60 per hour, that's the house fee, the owner gets that. They only get the tips and very low wages. They don't get minimum wages or salaries like we( Americans) do, they work solely on tips to feed their families. If they Jack up the price, do you think you'll pay $90 for an hour of massage that you don't even know if is good or not ? I don't think so, you guys might as well go to the American ones like Massage Envy or Burke Williams and pay $100-$150 per hour for non members. Why y'all tipping 20% like you're eating at a restaurant ? Stop doing that !!! Giving them $20 per hour for a good massage ain't going to hurt you. $40 house fee plus $20 tips = $60 for an hour massage. Try getting that price at the American market. $5 can't even get me a good cup of coffee at Starbucks and y'all think is a good tip. If you can't give them a good tip of $15-$20 per hour, stay home and roll around on your pebble rock backyard or rub up and down a tree lol try having your partner/parents knead your body for an hour and you give them $5, let's see what they say lol one last thing, if you don't like your massage in the first 10 minutes, you can always change them to a different therapist, just tell the boss. The only reason I'm giving a 4 stars is because is cold inside and they don't close the private room door, is not a crack open like 5-6 inches, it was so opened like 12 inches. What's the point of having a private room, and you have to keep your underwear on ? they don't even oil your glutes (butt) to massage them. Tom massage my feet so good, I think I fell asleep lol until next time if I decided to come back. I'll try a different guy because I like a deep deep tissue massage. Remember you're not eating at a restaurant, stop tipping them the 20 %, is one on one hard kneading work, or just stay home and get your massage gun out lol read more

I tried to redeem a one-hour foot massage gift certificate that was purchased at their location many years ago with no expiration date. When I went to use it, I was told I had to pay an additional "service fee" to receive the massage. Under California Civil Code §1749.5, gift certificates sold in California cannot expire and cannot be subject to service or redemption fees. Since this certificate listed no expiration date and no additional fees, it should be honored in full as purchased. I was told that was not possible. My 2 girlfriends and I had a reservation yesterday. We arrived and 2 of us had gift certificates. The women at the desk said they are old and we said yes prior to Covid and she said she had to charge us $14 more because it was a $20 gift card. We have gone there for many massages for many years and it was never $20 nor were the gift cards. It has always been $30 per massage. Our other friend paid cash and it was a total of $34 because she said it went up $4 which is ok. Because we started off on the wrong foot, we weren't too happy with our massages. They were really tough and painful. When we checked out, the women at the desk said that we should pay $10 for a tip because they worked so hard. Yes, they worked hard. If they had not charged us another $14, I told her I would have given him a $10 tip. I asked if they were new owners and she said "No". She may have been new to Happy Feet. Her customer service was a 0 and they will definitely loose their clientele. She just kept on disagreeing with us. Oh and she made us put our shoes outside the store. We use to put them in a basket with our purse. They did have a basket for our purse so why couldn't we put them in the same basket? They never checked our vaccination status or take our temperature. I just went in to purchase a gift certificate & since I didn't know what service my mom would want, I asked if I could get the gift certificate for a set amount ($50) & then when my mom makes her appointment or goes in, she could choose which service she wants. The lady at the front table told me yes, but if my mom wants the $40 service, there is no refund for the remaining funds on the gift certificate. I asked if that's the case, can my mom apply the extra $10 as the tip? She said yes, so I asked for a $50 gift certificate & noticed that while she was preparing the gift certificate for me, that she wrote on it $10 tip (which I thought meant that is how much could be applied if my mom opted for the $40 service since I had paid $50 for the gift certificate). I paid & before leaving, I verified that since she wrote that part about the tip on there, that my mom could use the gift certificate for a $40 service & apply the extra $10 on it as a tip, get a $50 service & pay the tip herself, or apply the gift certificate toward a $60 service & pay the difference & tip herself, to which the woman became very impatient with me, flailing her arms, & raising her voice, telling me if my mom wants a $50 service she has to pay $10 more. Why? I paid $50 for a gift certificate & when she told me there are no refunds for unused funds, I just asked her hypothetically if any funds are remaining on the gift certificate, if they could be used toward a tip (in the event my mom opted for the $40 service). When I tried explaining to her why I was confused & what the issue was, she continued with her unprofessional behavior & told me to trust her. Trust her for what? I recently went to Happy Feet in Encino to use a gift card I received as a birthday gift. It was for a full body 90 minute massage no oil. Honestly the massage was just OK. It wasn't amazing. It wasn't terrible. When it was over I went to go hand the woman at the front desk, a tip to give to the woman who gave me the massage. My tip was just over 18% and the woman at the front desk told me that my tip wasn't enough and actually told me I had to pay more. At first I thought I miss heard her and maybe owed more for the massage so I said wasn't the massage I already paid for and she said yes but you need to give a bigger tip. I decided to give this place a 2nd try. The 1st time the massage was ok... but very disconnected, no flow. Sort of random and sporadic. This time was even worse. When I asked for firm pressure, the guy would laugh. He either had no pressure or excrutiating....no happy medium. 15 minutes was spent just lightly rubbing lotion on my legs and feet, something I could easily do for myself. I decided to say nothing, thank the guy, and just not come back. I usually tip $10 or 20%, whichever is more, but I didn't feel it was appropriate with such a terrible massage. The guy ran out, and he and the owner said, " you only tipped $5". I was floored.....they had the nerve to ask me to tip $10. I normally would, but this was such a bad massage I chose not to. Who asks for more tip? I was flabberghasted! When I got home, I noticed I'd been charged an extra $2 for paying with my debit card....no sign saying this, no communication! What the heck! I think that's illegal. I should have paid closer attention but was excited for what I thought was about to be a wonderful massage.
