They are really delicious and definitely one of the highlights of this restaurant! They are just practically overflowing with so much soup, with really thin skins and such fragrant, juicy pork fillings. Some other must-tries: - Chilli oil wontons 紅油抄手 were fantastic. Portion size was a little larger than I expected, and the chilli oil smelled so good! - Scallion pancake with beef 蔥油餅夾牛肉 is one of my favourites. The wrapper was very crispy and the beef was tender and very savoury. The balance of the slightly-sharp scallion flavour was perfect. - Fried chinese chives box 韭菜盒子, another classic. Lovely crispy outside layer with a delicious fresh chives/noodles/etc. filling. - Soymilks - I've had both the hot and cold sweet soymilks, and they are both delicious. You can't go wrong here. The location is a bit hidden (in the back of a small mall), which I suspect is why it's not busier. I've never had to wait, even during weekend lunch hours. The guy in there did not seem to speak much English but he was kind and welcoming anyway. I opted for the noodles, which were slightly better than the standard over cooked Chinese take out lo mein- soft but not mushy. I got gong bao Ji ding, some sort of tofu and wood ear dish, and a potato curry. The chicken was super fatty and rich dark meat with a juicy, tender texture. You could really taste the wok hei in this dish and it had some pleasant heat to it. This is probably my favorite dish I got. The potato curry was also flavorful, and the potatoes were not mushy and over cooked- just creamy and marinated in curry flavor. The tofu was surprisingly deep in flavor. The sauce completely penetrated the fried triangles of tofu with slight sweetness and savoriness. It was pleasantly chewy and overall seemed to be expertly prepared. This picture of the food genuinely looks horrible, but you have to take my word that everything I ate here was very delicious. I find that often this type of place offers many dishes that all taste very similar but each of the things I tried had its own distinct flavor profile. I ate at one of the few seats inside and found it to be clean and comfortable with a large jar of tasty chili oil available. A little on the bland side though they have a large piece of meat inside, nothing a little soy sauce (or any other Asian sauce for that matter) couldn't fix. - stir-fried rice vermicelli $6 for the large box, $3 for the small one: tasty well-cooked noodles with slivers of cabbage, onion and carrot, the large box could serve 2 people easily. - choice of 3 dishes with rice, fried rice or noodles, and served with a side of clear soup (had veggies in the soup the day I went) $8: they do choice of 2 dishes with above for $7, choices of 4 options for $9. It was getting late and this place was convenient and open and had seemed to have good ratings on Google. So we had to try it out. It was a cold date. There was no one in the restaurant, but the staff was very friendly and it felt like a private event just for ourselves. We got a traditional Taiwanese appetizer and some spicy sautéed fish in a sizzling beef and pepper platter. All we're good, especially the fish definitely worth trying. There are other authentic Taiwanese style food that wants to say for next time.

Hot & sour soup ($3) was okay, but nothing more than average. Same for the tea egg that now cost $1.50 each. Sigh. For this type of food, somehow I feel like $16 is too much. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I feel. I have been to other similar spots where I feel like it's slightly cheaper. Braised Donkey Meat (6/10) - Not sure if they imported this delicacy or sourced it locally. Very lean and some pieces were chewy. Had better in Beijing, but overall not my thing. Sliced Conch Meat w/ Oil & Scallion (8/10) - So much shredded scallions and cilantro really enhances this dish. Paired so well with the crunchy conch. Sliced Conch Meat w/ Chili Oil (8.5/10) - Even better than the non-spicy version. This is one of the best dishes I had in this restaurant and better than most versions around Flushing. Stir Fried Quail (7.5/10) - Somewhat annoying to eat because of the bones, but I liked this dish. That sweet finish is quite interesting. Stir Fried Pork Kidney (7/10) - Flavor was good, but this dish was overcooked slightly. Stewed Goose w/ Pickled Cabbage (7.5/10) - This was one of our centerpieces that needed a large group. When they're on point, they're a really quality spot but when they're off, they're really off. Their inconsistency has been frustrating because it's never a guarantee on what one will get. Despite the small interior, they've managed to bring in large round tables for groups and and a handful of four tops for medium sized groups. It is both dingy and divey, which is usually my kind of place. The bathrooms are a bit unsightly but certainly not surprising. There is usually one wall mounted air conditioner handling the ventilation, which still ends up being stuffy most of the time anyway. The food is mainly focused on northern specialties, but the menu spans into central Chinese with a smattering of Sichuan dishes. Like many uber authentic spots, their specials are scribbled on paper pinned along the wall and the menu has an extensive selection of so many items. Their sweet and sour pork (锅包肉) is definitely the real deal, which reminds me almost of the tang-soo yuk of Korean-Chinese cuisine and a complete departure from the starchy, syrupy, American-Chinese version. The fried yellow croaker (干炸小黄鱼) is surprisingly light, which is the case for their fried quail (爆炒鹌鹑). The cumin lamb (孜然羊排) is outstanding and is a must for anyone who enjoys lamb meat with a big kick. The rest of the food has been a crapshoot. The good news is that the portions are large and the prices are fair but some of the dishes are a little bit too oily for my taste. Presentation is on point and I'd recommend avoiding delivery / takeout since the in-dining experience is usually their best bet. The least surprising thing is the service is really tough at times. Speaking Mandarin is almost essential but even in doing so, I've been met with a lot of snappiness from the staff. It's always been one of their biggest challenges, especially on the phone. Li's has so much potential to be one of the upper echelon places if they just worked on their food execution and service. One red flag was that there was no disclaimers that the claypot rice would take at least 15 mins or so to make as that's what I would expect for an authentic made to order claypot rice. We ordered the Grilled Eel and Home-Style Braised Pork Casserole, which both came out in under 10 minutes. The pork was definitely plentiful and seasoned well but it was definitely premade and just plated in the claypot. The eel claypot rice did not have the crispy rice in the bottom of the claypot and definitely seemed like it was precooked rice that was thrown into the claypot for presentation. The food was not terrible but it definitely disappointing and not authentic. The milk custard was not my favorite as it tasted like stinky milk. Overall, I would not recommend Mr BoBo and hope they step up their game soon.
