This is a fun place! YES, in the middle of an airstrip for small planes. Don't worry, it is not dangerous and I believe they do plane rides too. The food is fantastic and as requested, we called for pickup since we had a long ride ahead of us. This place is worth the stop. Inside the restaurant is a fun aeronautical feel but not overdone. Some cool things to look at, read, and just gaze at. Yes, I guess "look at" and "gaze" might be construed as one in the same, but I say Ney! The picture I took is of the sidewalk you need to take to get from parking lot to front of restaurant. There is a sign, but I thought the visual aide was helpful. Plus, that old plane at the end of the sidewalk is super cool to check out!! The folks in here are very nice and you can see they hustle! Check 'em out! The food will not disappoint! read more

Best breakfast I've had in a very long time! Food was delicious! Breakfast burrito was amazing! Pumpkin pancakes were giant and yummy! Homemade strawberry jam was to die for! Came here for breakfast while in Tampa visiting family. We called ahead of time, and a guy answered and said there was no wait. We get there. There's a wait. The older woman who "greeted" us was passively rude. I asked how long was the wait. She said "not long". I asked again a timeframe. She said "there's a group of six ahead of you and then when a table becomes available." We didn't stay. So no review about the food. But the little bit of time we stood debating if we were going to stay or not, we saw them bringing out plates. No gloves on. Plates resting on servers arms (not trays). The concept is great and the kids loves seeing the planes. However, the food was mediocre. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. They have a giant Trump flag when you walk in the door. I LOVE the Happy Hanger Cafe! It makes me...happy!! The food there is good, although I'm not 100% sure we go there for the food. We're usually there so we can sit out on the porch to have breakfast and watch the planes takeoff and land. It's really cool and the kids love it! I haven't been there for any meal other than breakfast so I can't comment on their other food. If you are going to come on a weekend and you want to sit outside, be sure to get there early or prepare to wait a little bit. It's been a little hit or miss in terms of getting one of the tables outside. We will usually wait though because as nice as the inside May or may not be, we're partly there for the show. There aren't many "different" places out here that aren't a box restaurant, so when you find one like this, it's worth checking out! read more

We enjoyed a hearty breakfast here Sunday morning. Tucked deep in a Northeast Tampa neighborhood, I relied on Google Maps to get us here, and we had no problems... Other than being confused. And that peacock sighting (which wasn't a problem, other than not getting a photo of it loitering in someone's front yard). Heading to Dade City on Sunday, I did my homework in looking for a breakfast spot *kinda* on the way from Town & Country, and when I found Happy Hangar Cafe at North Tampa Aero Park, a few minutes off I-275/ I-75, I knew I'd found our winner. And I was not disappointed. Planes are parked everywhere! Unfortunately, since the weather forecast was dismal, we didn't see any planes arriving or departing, but since the cafe windows faced a runway (possibly only runway), I can imagine what a great view is possible! We both ordered the 2 egg breakfast with bacon or sausage (guess which I chose!), potatoes & bread. I picked home fries & thought they were almost not cooked enough... but they were, & delicious mixed with my over-easy eggs. H chose hashbrowns, which were quite excellent alone, but I thought a bit too greasy to eat with my eggs. The biscuit was amazing, & I wished I hadn't saved it for last as I was too full to eat all of it. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals... Nothing fancy, but solid, well-cooked breakfasts! I want to specifically mention the service... we arrived just a few minutes before 8am on Sunday, and were surprised to see only 2 tables occupied. This was nice because the cafe was quiet, and I hadn't had coffee yet. We were also running a few minutes late to our final destination, so I was optimistic service would be quick. AND IT WAS. Even quicker than I'd hoped. We didn't need to rush our eating because service was SO QUICK. And another server was quick with the coffee pot. We didn't want for anything because they all anticipated our needs. THAT is why I give Happy Hangar Cafe five stars! read more

Never have been let down, the service is wonderful even when it absolutely packed and there's a waiting list. Great food, very friendly people right there at a little airport, Tampa North Airport. So there we are and there was an old open cock pit biplane, they said Keith will take you up in it for $75!!! Where else can you eat breakfast on a tarmac, watching planes come in and out and walk through a hanger after with classic and modern small planes. Tell me I'm not welcome without saying it out loud. Wow this was my 2nd time here and the first time had a great experience. This time not so much. I have never felt so Unwelcomed in my life. Not just by the staff but by the patrons too. I guess it's a local spot that only wants the locals and I didn't fit (although I am local). Had breakfast there on a Saturday, pancakes were thick and good. Went back today, pancakes were very thin and greasey. Owner said it was the way they always cooked them We told her that wasn't the way they were on Saturday. She told us she keeps telling the weekend cook he was making them too thick. Would not take them back or give us a refund. Very poor business practice. If I could have given less than 1, I would have. Would not advise anyone to eat there read more
