The franchise exists on nostalgia. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt as a new business and as an iconic entity of the 80s. The reality is Happy Joes post 2016 is a derivative of a lost memory. That isn't necessarily bad. The restaurant still captures midwest pizza like no other within hours of Navarre. This location now offers ONLINE ordering. The employees always seem upbeat and eager to help. What I am looking for is midwest pizza, so if I'm seeking pizza, its going to be Happy Joes because I'm not a fan of NY style pizza. Ordered from their website 10 oz bottled "Taco Sauce" because I know there wouldn't be enough supplied with the pizza. What did i get? A handful of extra packets (15) which is 4.6 oz total. We stopped in for the lunch buffet on the first Friday after the grand opening. Just 10 minutes after 11, every table was full. The buffet was kept well stocked with a variety of hot pizza, salad fixings and a hot pasta. The friendly staff removed used plates, cleaned tables and answered questions with a smile. We expected an experience similar to CiCi's but the food quality was miles beyond. You order at the register at the front door and find your seat. I am not sure how this works if someone in your party doesn't want the buffet and orders off the menu. read more

I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews for this place. My husband and I had lunch here today for the first time and our experience was great! We've eaten a lot of pizza and I've tried many gluten free and cauliflower crusts and we both loved our food today. We both got the buffet and they were so kind to make a special cauliflower crust pizza for me for the buffet price which includes your drink. This is an amazing deal! This was the BEST cauliflower or GF crust pizza I've EVER had! It was grilled chicken alfredo. My husband had all the other delicious options on the buffet. The salad bar was awesome and my husband especially loved the blueberry dessert pizza that they also made just for him and added to the buffet. The staff and the service were outstanding, and we can't wait to eat here again the next time we're in Navarre. The atmosphere was super fun with a nice arcade and an ice cream shop right in the middle of the restaurant. Please open a location in Baldwin County AL! Ordered a large pie with pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes -AMAZING!!! Really flavorful and fresh. We tried Happy Joe's for the first time recently. We ordered a large pizza and small cheese sticks for $45 plus a tip, even though you order at the counter and get your own drinks. The pizza was decidedly disappointing with very little flavor in the cheese, crust or toppings. We were divided about whether the sauce tasted like tomato paste and Italian seasoning or ketchup. It tasted similar frozen pizza. The cheese sticks took 23 minutes and the pizza took 30+ minutes to arrive. No one who delivered food asked if we needed anything else. The bartender did check on us and was friendly. Overall the atmosphere was very quiet. Barely any music could be heard. We would go back to try dessert, however we won't be back to buy any more over-priced pizza. read more

Went on a Friday evening at 4:30 the same week they had their grand opening. We were able to be seated right away in the outdoor seating area. What a cool place!! I love how they have the little arcade area for the kids. I had hoped it would be a bit bigger...but hey, we don't have anything like this in Navarre...so we'll take it!! We tried the signature Taco Pizza, that I've heard so many people comment about on the Navarre Locals page. I tried the first slice with no taco sauce, it was good...then we were given some of the Happy Joe's taco sauce and I put that on top...it was a game changer!! DELICIOUS!! Though next time, I think we'll get the sour cream added on to make it a supreme..I think that would have taken it up another notch! We also ordered the Meat Works pizza which was good. We ordered 2 medium pizzas and a Little Joe's pizza (personal size) for our son who wanted a plain cheese pizza. Which was more than enough for our family of 3..we ended up taking home over half a medium pizza. The staff was great. So friendly and checked on us frequently. The pizza took a little while to come out, but honestly, since they just opened, it's to be expected. I'm sure that aspect will get better as they get the hang of it. :) It makes me sad that so many have already left them such poor reviews. Give them a chance, they just opened. The staff is friendly. Food is processed and edible. Seats are booths for 4 or hard chairs in the middle of a loud room. They have like 10 games. The prices are too high two apps, two little joe pizzas and a small pizza was $73 with tip, that's over $20 per person for what tastes like overly sweet frozen pizza. The cheese was good. They will charge you for a cup of ranch or some hot sauce for your $17.00 pizza. It's stand up and order then sit down. Tourists will love it as it's expensive and bland. We will not be going back as there are too many good choices to waste the time or money on this place. read more

We tried Happy Joes for the first time with our two grandson's aged 5-7. They were immediately drawn to the video games. It kept them busy while we ordered pizza. The prices were reasonable overall. We were able to order a draft beer and the bartender was very friendly. They had indoor and outdoor seating. We chose indoors. They have an observation window and the chefs made a smiley pizza face on the glass. Overall staff was friendly and helpful. The pizza was good, not the best or worst I have had in the area. Staff was friendly as we walked in to a counter where they say sit down anywhere you'd like and when you decide come back up to order. We decide fairly quick and go back up to order now that a long line has formed. Ordered and pizza came out after an okay wait. The pizza was not good. It was like a frozen pizza I could buy at the store. The staff up front is all mainly teens that seem nice overall but not efficient. For reference we ordered a cheese pizza. I have been waiting for some time to find somewhere I could get a really good pizza. Happy Joe's opened up and I was there on the second day of opening. I give this review in hope that you could correct some things and be that place I can go for a great pizza. Ordered 2 nachos and a large meat and veges with extra cheese on top. I ordered for pickup to take home. Once home, I was disappointed by the condition of my pizza and nachos. Nachos were burnt, little cheese, Pizza was not cooked all the way so it was doey and soft except at the edges. the meat was minimal and veges were cut up really small, as for the extra cheese on top, minimal. Again I present this review in hopes this was just opening day jitters. It's pretty neat how you have set up the restaurant, but the food quality needs to be the most important. read more

Really cool atmosphere but the pizza wasn't very good, we left after a few slices. The ingredients didn't taste fresh, a lot of sugar is used in the sauce and the dough tasted previously frozen I don't think was fresh. I'll be going to NYPD instead but it's a super cool place for kids and they probably wouldn't tell the difference in quality of pizza with all the fun stuff around. Just my honest opinion, we love mom and pop shops but for how expensive it was I would expect them to be better than Little Caesars pizza & they weren't sadly.. Service was not really existent, they asked for a tip when ordering and after we tipped no one came to our table to do anything, so not sure what we were tipping for or why there were soo many employees standing in little pods talking and laughing the whole time. The cooks didn't wear hair caps and most of them had longer hair that came out of their hat by many inches, that was a huge sanitary hazard, also all the other employees just walked in and out back where the food was being made with no gloves, long hair down, touching stuff. I have heard how AWESOME the pizza is, so while driving through Navarre we stopped in. To me it was a high class Chuck E. Cheese mixed with a Cici's. The pizza was less than mediocre. Came in on the second day after opening found our own table and found there is only one menu per table. went back to the front to order and pay but after 30 minutes no food and no body checked to see if everything was ok. Got up to leave and told the cashier we wanted a refund and she had no idea how to do it. Really poor training because nobody seemed to know how to do their job.
