Soicy soup base and premium package with buffet, drinks and meats included

I love to visit this restaurant when I am craving hot pot! I catch the lunch special which is $24.99/pp at specific hours and includes unlimited meats, drinks, and access to "buffet" which has a bunch of additions like noodles, veggies, and sauces for your broth. If someone isn't feeling soup, the buffet does have fried veggie spring rolls and shrimp fried rice. There are also more broths available in this area. Service is quick and staff is always around for questions or help. The restaurant is very clean and everything always tastes fresh. Give it a try!

I have been coming here for over a decade. They are also consistent. Service here is always efficient. There has been some recent changes with the buffet style self serve hotpot. Now there is buffet style for you to pick out your own veg, tofu, and shrimps. Self serve drinks dessert etc. They still take your order for meat and bring it to the table. We did the VIP hot pot which was 10 dollars extra and to be honest not worth the extra nothing to complain about but there isn't much extra you get, the regular menu has everything needed. My fave broth is mushroom and tomato, you can split your hot pot for different flavors. The lamb served here is always the best lamb ever. There are so many veg choices. Great family spot and group dining !

This place was awesome! Fresh veggies, great choice of noodles, and the sauce bar was exceptional. Highly recommend getting the spicy sour broth.

My party of 4 visited on a Friday around 6:30pm and was seated promptly. The restaurant filled out throughout the evening. We opted for the regular ayce option for $31.99 per person. There was a number of meats to order from the waiter and you could get vegetables, mushroom, fishballs, noodles and other items yourself from the buffet area. There is also sauce bar and some cooked food to choose some. Soft drinks are also included in the ayce price. The meats came out relatively quick and wait staff were friendly. Overall, a good spot for hot pot if you want variety, and quality was on par of other ayce hot pot spots.

Classic menu with best of both world soup. Lamb, beef short plate, kurobuta pork.

Came in on a Friday night, yelp waitlist had no wait at 6:30 but when we arrived by 7:15 there were 6 parties ahead of us and a full restaurant so we waited probably 15 minutes for a table which was not bad. BYOB which was great. No cotton candy machine but they had a variety of seafood options, mushrooms, pickled pig ears/wood ear mushrooms, organ meats, vegetables all were fresh and were readily restocked. They also had some dessert soups off to the side including sago and red bean. Despite the restaurant being full our waiter was easy to get a hold of if needed but we didn't really need it since the portion sizes of the meat brought out was perfect. It wasn't too loud, it was clean, and the meats were fresh. Great deal and a great experience.

I think this place is slightly overhyped. Couple of things: - Service: while I get that it's supposed to be self service, we felt a bit neglected. Seating was slow, nobody asked how we were doing, soup was evaporating with no refills - Broth: incredibly important part of hot pot in general but there broth wasn't especially flavorful. The spicy wasn't even spicy and it was very mid. No umami at all - Selection of meats / veggies were fine? Pretty average selection, nothing too special. Their fish balls are absolutely atrocious. My friend described it as "is this sh*t in the middle". Do not get that. - Also, there were so many flies? gnats?? around the produce EWWWW. One of the workers had to bring out their electric fly swatter and everything was just PAH PAH PAH so that makes me question the hygiene of the restaurant It's overall ~fine~ but I definitely don't think it's to die for

The waitlist wasn't bad but they won't you a table unless all of your parties show up being present. Four people we got best of both worlds and all you can eat choices for dinner sections. Variety of food selections that you can't go wrong with. You get to choose meats, veggies, and sides with drinks as much as you would like. If you go here for your birthday you get to eat there for free, must check out don't loose such a great deal. Many choices to follow and great hotpot especially for this winter seasons!

I havent been here and years and the set up has completely changed. It's now an AYCE hot pot place, with so many options. We came for dinner and got the classic menu. You have to order the meat options, but everything else is in the buffet section and there's a ton to choose from. There's a variety of seafood, vegetables and mushrooms, fishballs, and noodles, and also a sauce bar. Everything was fresh and the broth was nice. Service was quick and the meats we order came out fast. They have a few private rooms, otherwise it's casual seating.

The last time I visited Happy Lamb (formerly Little Sheep) was before COVID, and I was curious to see how it's changed since then. While it's still all-you-can-eat, the experience is very different now. They've introduced different pricing tiers based on the variety of meats and drinks included, which is a nice touch for those who want more options. However, the restaurant is now largely self-service. Other than the cuts of meat, everything else--noodles, vegetables, seafood, and sides--needs to be picked up from the buffet line. While I appreciate being able to choose exactly what I want, I miss the convenience of having everything brought to the table. Overall, I found the experience underwhelming. The selection, quality, and pricing at KPot down the road are significantly better in my opinion. I much preferred the way Happy Lamb was run pre-COVID, and unfortunately, I don't see myself returning.

Great AYCE spot when you want some hot pot! They have a couple tiers depending on meat preferences. The food is very fresh and the broth is flavorful. Good variety of proteins, veg, and add-ons at the bar. There was also a cotton candy machine when I went. I'd recommend checking it out (but the parking does get full quickly during peak hours).

Are they back to there old ways of ordering or is it still all you can eat?

    Still AYCE.

Apparently Monday October 11th google says there going to be open. Can anyone confirm this?

They are open. I ate there earlier today.

It is October 3rd, anyone know when there going to open?

I peeked inside the restaurant yesterday (Saturday, October 2, 2021) and the renovation is still going on.

Are they open for business (September 2021)?

As of today (9/28) they are still closed for renovations, but I had to drive there to find out -- they're not answering their phone.

    Are they open?

Yes, they've been open. Sometimes it can be hard to tell if they are because they're normally not busy and often no one is working the front to welcome and seat customers. Wait a bit when you enter or call ahead of time to be safe. Also, noticed… Read more

Do they still have the lunch special?

They now have Hot Pot Combos instead. You can check it out on their Yelp page, under "Menu".

Yes, I looked through the windows tonight and saw people eating indoors

    Do you offer outdoor dining?

No, there is no room to set up outdoor dining.

    Yes, it's BYOB :)

    How casual is this restaurant?

No it's not but the orders has huge portions. To the point that the last thing you will remember is what being hungry feels like lol

Anyone know how Sunday prices compare to the normal weekday lunch specials?

Weekday lunch specials are a little over $11 per person. Weekend pricing is generally the same as a la carte weekday pricing. Noticed more ingredients are offered during dinner than lunch on weekdays. Not sure if that's also the case on weekends but… Read more

The service is very friendly and patient (and American friendly). The food comes out lightning fast. Everything is very reasonably priced. Best of all, it's all delicious. I tried stuff outside of my comfort zone and I loved it all. My favorite were the pork juicy buns (soup dumplings) but the most unique thing was the pan fried noodle which was like a crispy deep fried noodle that would soften as it sat in the sauce. The golden lava buns were sweet and rich and perfect for dessert.

We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot. This is my favorite default dish for every visit at any Shanghainese ethnic cuisine. However, there were no serving tongs provided for this particular appetizer which is industry standard. Preserved cabbage with pork noodle soup, syut3 coi3 juk6 si1 min6, 雪菜肉絲麵 $9.50 This is a satisfying Chinese comfort food. This noodle soup was abundant with noodles, pork and chopped vegetables. It provided warmth to my very broken heart. Shanghai chicken in wine sauce, zeoi3 gai1, 醉雞, $8.95 A traditional Chinese cold appetizer, aka Chinese Drunken chicken made with Chinese Shaoxing cooking wine. It has amazing flavor and texture to be deliciously enticing. Of course, the cooking wine brings flavor to this appetizer making you want more. Shanghai pan fried U-Don noodle, soeng6 hoi2 cou1 caau2 min6, 上海粗炒面, $11.95 Abundant noodles with good consistency and it not heavily filled with grease and oil.

We got the pork sticky rice shumai, pork in garlic sauce over rice, sautéed string beans and pepper corn chicken. Shumai was ok. The pork in garlic sauce had way too much sauce and was a tad sweet for our liking; it was drowning in sauce. The strings and pepper corn chicken were very good. Both had a slight touch of heat. I wish we ordered differently but overall the food was ok. Our server was very nice and attentive. We're debating coming back to try more of the menu but with so many Asian/Chinese restaurants to try in Edison, I think we'd try someplace else.

Turned out to be a great choice. Although not easy to find on the tail end of a nondescript commercial strip, we saw its sign and walked in to a decent sized dining room with a half dozen booths along one wall and about a dozen tables spread across the remainder. Plenty of original watercolors displayed and for sale on the walls. David the proprietor seemed to be handling most of the operation himself. He sat us, took our order, disappeared into the kitchen to participate in its preparation and served our four courses to us in traditional style - separately as ready. The food was excellent. We chose from both the lunch and regular menu, which were integrated seamlessly. Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. The Fish and Chili was very good, with tender lightly breaded white fish fillets and red chili sauce that included small pieces of celery, sprouts and cabbage, in a large bowl. Finally, the lunch sized Orange Beef was delicious with sweet and spicy amber sauce coating the pieces of lightly crisped beef. Ubiquitous broccoli sprigs added color to the dish. Service was friendly and accommodating. David was happy to interact and talk about his business there. Red Onion is a Five Star keeper.
