This is a legit Hotpot place across from my favorite dim sum spot Fu Lam Mum. Did not see any set meals but there is a very excellent selection of individual items, ranging from meats (chicken, pork, beef, lamb, seafood) to various veggies/vegetarian items. If have not had hotpot before, you need to bring someone with experience, because the menu is pretty expansive, which includes things such as pork's blood (gelatin-like form) and different kinds of dumplings. For the broth, I would go with the double broth, which includes a non-spicy and a spicy broth on each side. It is possible to over-cook the meats. They should only be cooked for about 30 seconds. Some items that take a bit longer include harder vegetables, taro, and dumplings. You will need 3-5 minutes for those items. The service here is very good, and there should not be any communication issues. Indoor and outdoor seating, depending on your preference. I really wish the sauce was free... I love this place! Whenever I come visit my brother we eat here. You ask for a broth. We asked for a mushroom vegetarian broth and a coconut milk chicken broth. That comes in a pot, and you basically cook all the things in it. We were 10 ppl. 8 adults and 2 young children. We got pork, chicken, prawns, meat balls, mushroom combo, veggie platter, boc choy and plenty of udon, we also got bean curd rolls, Dim sum with lamb and fish balls. You dump everything in the broth and vwalla! It tastes amazing. The broth was great. The veggies fresh, the meat and fish fresh, and all delicious. Service was pretty good. Finally checked out Happy Lamb Hotpot in Mountain View after having it saved in my Yelp bookmarks for months, and I was definitely blown away by the quality and value of my experience. In the Bay Area, hotpot is definitely very expensive, so I was so pleasantly surprised by how affordable the broths and combination platters were, as well as how much I received. Here's what I ordered: split pot: original and spicy broth lamb, angus beef, kurobata pork seafood platter: shrimp, mussels, fish fillets, imitation crab, scallops vegetable platter fresh cut noodles Overall, you get a lot of bang for your buck, and I would definitely order conservatively next time since you get a HUGE amount of food per platter. The quality of every item was also impeccable, and everything was fresh and generously presented. I've had Happy Lamb a handful of times throughout the years. It never really stood out to me too much, but this time in particular was great! My party of 6 came on a Thursday evening and were seated indoors. It got more crowded during the later evening hours but felt pretty spaced out. I went with the House Original Marrow Broth which was simple and delicious. You select the items you want by writing the quantity on the paper menu. Pay per item. I went with the fresh thick noodle (yum), kobe beef, kurobuta pork, ribeye, pumpkin, broccoli, bok choy, sweet corn, cabbage, shrimp balls, and taro root. My eyes were bigger than my stomach - I was WAY too ambitious and shared my hot pot and all the previously listed items with only one other person. It was way too food for two people so I will definitely be ordering lighter next time. Everything was delicious, I loved the quality meats, fresh thick noodle, and house original marrow broth the most. Service was great, they frequently checked in to get drinks refilled and were all super friendly. We left with so many leftovers to take home, it felt like we just went grocery shopping. I believe this used to be little sheep. Now it's called happy lamb. Seems to have the same menu and quality as before. Love this hot pot restaurant! It's a great treat on a winter day. One of the specialties is the crispy fried lamb shank. The lamb is tender and juicy with a nice crispy skin. It also comes with a cumin rub that adds spice to the meet. Fish ball with roe is another one of our favorites. Be careful when biting into the fish ball because the roe might squirt out! Garlic beef was ok but definitely marinated... I find it too marinated where the texture of the beef has turned mushy. I always get the angus beef. It's sliced so thin that it only takes seconds to cook and always delicious! read more

Came here on a Saturday night with no reservation with a group of 5 and was seated in 15 minutes! We sat inside and I actually was quite pleased by how quickly we got food after ordering. Good: I liked the hand cut noodles a lot since they had a lot of great textured and also were just yummy. Definitely get all of the sauces here since they add a lot. I also liked the various beef meat dishes. The fish ball with roe was good too! The mushroom platter had a lot of variety too. We got half original broth and half tomato broth and the tomato was the standout. Bad: The sesame pie didn't have too much flavor and I thought it was harder to flag some of the waiters down here. Came here on Saturday at 1 pm with a group of 4. Parking was super easy to find since there was a parking garage nearby. There was no wait time. Noise level was average. We ordered the natural spring lamb, natural prime aged lamb, natural marbled lamb, lamb leg slice, marinated garlic beef and an assortment of vegetables, mushrooms. All of the meats were really tender and easy to chew and the broth made the flavor really pop. The spicy side wasn't too spicy yet it still had a small kick in it. Reminded me of a better version of the broth my mom used to make growing up. The everything else was okay. Nothing spectacular. Why 3 stars instead of 4? Finally reunited with my absolute favorite restaurant, Happy Lamb! I've been a HUGE fan of Happy Lamb ever since they were originally called Little Sheep. Pre-pandemic, I used to visit this place like crazy at its Dublin location. Since then, I've been eagerly waiting for the moment where I could comfortably dine in (given the pandemic and all) and I'm so happy to have visited it again! I missed it so much that I purchased one of their premade broths that you'd get at an Asian grocery store, but it definitely isn't the same as dining in. This was my first time visiting the Mountain View location and I was beyond impressed. I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was waiting outside until a server came out and said we could come in even though it was a bit early. The server who helped my party was extremely kind and was attentive as possible. Throughout our visit, they started to slowly get more and more customers and were obviously short staffed with only two servers on the floor. But both of them did a great job at managing large parties and all of the tables for both indoor and outdoor dining. My party and I ordered the half & half broths, 2 beef and lamb combos, fish balls with roe, Napa cabbage, 2 fresh thick cut noodles, and 1 Chinese donut. Our visit totaled to approximately $80-90. Everything was just as I remembered and tasted amazing. The server would also come around and refill our pot with broth whenever he noticed it was getting low. I would probably say that Happy Lamb is most ideal for large parties to get the most bang for your buck. So happy to report that after 4 visits, this place continues to get 5 stars! Delicious broth, fresh meats, surprising and fun ingredients, fast service! This time I thought I should highlight my favorite ingredients cause there are so many and in the visits I have managed to try a decent number of items in the menu. Broth- 'Best of both worlds' is a great offering for people who want to try their spicy and non spicy version. But their spicy chicken broth is what I have there so many times. Don't forget to get their garlic in sesame oil dipping sauce. It is to die for. Meats - Beef, Chicken and Lamb slice are all great - really cannot go wrong here. The lamb meat balls are a little gamey and you want to give them enough time to cook before taking a bite. Seafood - prawns go great with their broth. Scallops are alright. I thought they didn't get a ton of the broth flavor even after keeping them submerged awhile. Seafood changes the smell/taste of the mild broth a bit, so maybe keep for the end. Veggies - oh my God! I was not expecting that Pumpkin, lotus root, taro root can taste so good. Keep them enough to become soft and prepare for your mind to be blown. I do not enjoy any of their leafy offerings. They become too hot to eat because they retain the soup but not tasty enough. Always get noodles and their sesame bun. Again I have never not gotten their sesame bun. Dip in broth and garlic dipping sauce and enjoy. More enjoyable in groups of 4. Their table isn't setup well for 6 since the far end folks have to get up to get the food. read more

We got the split broth which was the house bone marrow broth and spicy version of it. The broth starts out pretty good but I got tired of the flavor real fast. It was salty and garlicky. I just felt like it was a garlic overload. In addition we ordered the garlic beef and garlic sauce. I feel some type of way about hot pot places that not only charge for sauce but have a very limited selection of sauces. I think being able to select your own preferred sauces is just as important as selecting the broth and both are important to enjoy your hotpot. & Whatever you do, do not order the garlic beef. It looked mushy raw and it's still mushy after it's cooked. Which is my next problem with this place. The way they cut all their meats is very thin and unejoyable. Obviously when you cook it, it shrivels up and it's extremely tiny and thin. It's just not the right way to enjoy meat. read more

With the Special Combo Set, you get to choose your protein choice(lamb, Angus beef, Kobe beef, seafood, pork or vegetables) and along with it comes a variety of veggies, mushrooms, tofu, pork, fish balls etc. You can also choose your own broth. I opted for the Tomato soup base and it was really flavorful. The ingredients were flavorful enough just by cooking in the broth. I didn't need any dipping sauce. I added the Fried Tofu Sheet and I enjoyed it very much. The layers of Tofu Sheet soaked up all that delicious broth. I order it every time I'm at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. Again it was a great value meal. Overall: Tasty hot pot. We got: the original marrow broth [chicken + beef base, ginger, garlic, scallions, dates, black + white cardamom, angelica root, goji berries, and I noticed a few fermented black beans], natural marbled lamb, tiger prawn, veggie combo platter (which comes with napa cabbage, tong ho [which I knew as crown daisy], bok choy, pumpkin, and some red bell pepper), enoki mushrooms, sweet corn, udon noodles, and frozen tofu. We forgot / weren't told how much comes with each item so this was a bit too much for a family of four with two kids, but we finished nearly all of it. I would say skipping the corn and tofu would've been a good amount. All the proteins and vegetables went really well with the tasty broth, and we didn't need sauces. We all had fun, one kid discovered that they really like enoki mushrooms, and I was very happy that tong ho was in the veggie combo. Things to note: Everything is a la carte, including sauces. The servers didn't explain anything and the menu could use some additional details for a few items. If you've never done hot pot, or want to avoid under- or over-ordering, I would recommend just asking your server for details/clarifications. Details: There is one burner per table, but they do have divided pots so you can choose two broths. Servers don't come by too frequently, but I noticed one standing nearby all the time, so I think it would've been very easy to ask for anything additional we needed. But you'll have to ask. The menu notes a few items as "recommended items" which was helpful, but it doesn't describe what's in the combo options, or note how big they are. So we winged it. The servers were all courteous, and after the fact, I realized that if we'd asked for details, I'm sure we would've gotten them. But it'd be nice if the menu just had the details for the combo options, or noted somewhere a rough estimate of how many items is the right amount for a given number of people. I would say you probably want to go with at least a group of four if you want a variety of proteins and vegetables for everyone. read more

We came by here to celebrate Mother's Day. One reason we choose this spot was because they offered outside seating. We came early, around 5-530pm range, and there were plenty of seats. We were pretty much the first party to be seated. All the seats would soon fill up completely, both inside and out. We ordered 6 plates of meats, one for each person: 3 beef, 2 lamb and 1 pork. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure how happy the lamb actually is. Maybe they are suggesting that we should order all the meats except for lamb. In that case, the lamb would be happy. We also ordered 2 veggie platters, 2 mushroom platters, fried tofu, rice noodle and rice. I only tasted the spicy and regular broth. I think the regular broth was a little salty. The spicy broth tasted better to me. It was more a medium-mild spicy.It was not an unbearable tearing with my leg shaking spicy. The main issue I had is that they did not provide free sauces! It cost 50c each. I guess they must really like artist of the song "In da Club" except it's definitely not my birthday since I would have to pay for sauce. Most, if not all, hotpot places that I have been to provide free unlimited sauce. I guess I was too cheap to order sauce but this definitely hampered my hot pot experience here. I didn't have any issues with the veggies or the meats. They were pretty standard. I did think the garlic beef was pretty good. It was very soft and tender, a melt in your mouth situation. The nice bonus we received was that we brought an outside cake (usually frowned upon by some establishments) and they provided plates and cake cutting utensils for free! Also, some places would charge a cake cutting fee which I detest. They also didn't pressure us to leave even though we took a bit of time with cutting and eating the Mother's Day cake. I had my reservations for a hot pot chain but I really liked this place. We sat outside as it was such a nice evening. The Caltrain was pretty loud and annoying but I still liked sitting outside. The inside was very nice though with plexiglass dividing the tables into little cubicle. We had the divided broth - one non-spicy and one spicy - very fragrant, very savory, very good. The broth was stuffed with spices and herbs! We ordered lamb, bok choy, wide bean noodles, fried bean curd, shiitake mushrooms, and quail eggs. A little side note on the quail eggs: these are hard boiled eggs and when you boil them in the broth, the yolk becomes creamy. It was not my favorite. And, it becomes VERY hot, so make sure to let it cool down before putting it in your mouth! We additionally ordered some dipping sauces but honestly, the broth was flavorful enough, you don't really need any additional dipping sauces. This hot pot restaurant is at the very end of downtown MV. It's located off Castro Street across the street from the train station, you'll be able to see and hear the CalTrain pass by every 15-20 minutes, cool for the kids. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas. This is NOT all you can eat, if you want AYCE go to Superhot down the street. Very clean restaurant, service was great, our server was very attentive and friendly. We got two soups, the spicy(Mongolian), and pickled cabbage(sour). Mongolian was as expected, delish, lots of chili oil, very similar to Little Sheep's (restaurant in Cupertino). I was hesitant to try the pickled cabbage, it sounded funky lol, but really glad I did. I normally go for the hot and sour type broths like Tom Yum but they did not have it here. The cabbage broth was not spicy at all, but the slightly sour flavor from the chopped pickled cabbage helped cut the fattiness of the meats. I thought it gave the meal good balance. They have lunch combos(meat+assorted vegetables) before 5:00 pm, but we opted for a la cart bc the combos only come with half the amount of meat. What we ordered: Plates of lamb and beef short rib Cabbage, spinach, tong o. Udon Hot tea( free refills) and a soda. Garlic sauce(.50), house chili sauce(.50) Everything looked and tasted fresh. We enjoyed our meal very much, I even asked for a Togo container for the broths afterwards and the server supplied them happily. What I did not like was getting charged for sauces, seems a bit grasping especially bc there's an all you can eat hotpot restaurant down the street that would be cheaper to go to all around...
