Happy Lemon is one of my favorite chains. I started going to the first one in the South Bay when it first opened. I was so excited to see we had one in Danville when I recently moved to the East bay. The drinks are consistently great but they run out of key ingredients frequently like salted cheese. If they can keep items in stock I think I would have rated them higher but the last 3 times I went in they had multiple items not in stock. By far the best Happy Lemon I've visited! I usually go to the Pleasant Hill location but I'll go out of my way to go to this one because 1) they open until 9pm 2) their boba is fresh and has enough chewiness to it 3) service is great! The manager at this Happy Lemon location was so sweet and recommended drinks for me to try every time I asked for any recommendations. They also serve egg puffs which I always get when I visit. 6/25/22 I'm really tempted to give this place 5 stars, but alas I don't think it's right because their key ingredient for a boba shop is bad: the boba. Not sure why, but their boba turns hard very fast. Like it was fine at first, but within minutes it was already hard. I realize for the slushy, the coldness does this to boba, but I get similar at other places and their boba stays soft for far longer. The boba in my gf's tea that had no ice also turned kinda hard, though not as bad as in my drink. But otherwise, the other thing: the drink, was awesome. D13. Okinawa Roasted Milk Tea w/ Boba, Large $6.50: I love this version. The tea flavor could be stronger, but it was there with good distinct tea flavor and robustness. They also add some caramel or something on the side which sweetens it better than sugar. However, my gf did order this with 1/2 sugar, so I guess that caramel stuff probably negates the request to some degree as it made the drink somewhat sweet. I liked it, but I guess if you're one of those birds that do "too sweet too sweet" chirping it may not be to your liking. 9/10 H7. Dragon Fruit Lemon Slushy, Large, substitute Lychee Jelly instead of Jello $6.75: And this was RAD. Yeah, their lemonade flavor is better than 95% of Caucasian restaurants with their "fresh squeezed lemonade". Tastes fresher, stronger, tarter, and more flavorful. Who woulda thought a Chinese place would do lemonade the best? It's funny because many Chinese of my age, but grew up in China, haven't ever even drank lemonade. I forgot the reasons my gf gave me, but lemons just aren't popular in China. Anyway.... I do taste a slight hint of dragonfruit, though the real deal is often kinda without distinct character, so it's hard to make a drink taste like it. But I think they did a good job. Soooooooooo happy to have a boba shop in the Blackhawk area! Happy Lemon is one of my favorite boba spots and I'm glad its conveniently located near Safeway. No more driving 15 minutes to get good boba. Parking is easy and the shop is open during shelter in place! Happy Lemon allows you to customize sweetness and ice levels and they have a rewards program as well. Mango matcha is always a hit if you are in the mood for a smoothie. I came in wanting an A5 MilkTea Oreo Tiramisu Cheese drink with green tea bubble waffle. I found the service lacking with no thank you's and apathetic attitude. I went over to High Tech Burrito to get my other order. When I came back, I got my drink and waffle and came back home. Once I was near the end of my drink, I was scooping up some Oreo fragments with a plastic fork, and when I started chewing the Oreo, I felt a recognizable texture that I knew to be hair. I pulled it out of my mouth and examined it. It was disgusting, and it made wonder if the guy with the dreadlocks (not wearing a cap) shook his hair and a piece of hair fell into my drink, or he placed it in there on purpose. If it's the latter, that's really messed up since I've been friendly to them my whole visit. You need to tell your employees to wear caps if you have long hair; having a piece of hair in your mouth is fucking unsanitary. I'm glad I didn't give them a tip since I would probably regret that after drinking my tea. Please be more sanitary. I know it's just a teenage/college-aged job for you, but I didn't deserve a nasty piece of hair in my drink. The employees at High Tech Burrito were friendlier than y'all. read more

It's been so nice having more and more boba places pop up around the Tri-Valley area! This has been one of the spots I've frequented during the shelter-in-place and I'm very impressed with their pandemic procedures. Not only are customers required to distance and mask up, but only 4 customers are allowed in the store at a time. Furthermore, the store always has its door propped open so it is well ventilated. Now, onto the flavors. I've tried the fruit teas here as well as the cheese cream. I have to say, I really enjoyed the salted cheese cream. I tried it with a plain matcha latte with boba, and found all the flavors to be delightful; the saltiness/richness of the cream with the grassy matcha and the sweet, satisfying boba pearls was fantastic! The fruit teas are excellent, too - definitely try the fresh lemon ones, they are perfect for summertime. I recommend the fresh lemon black tea with lychee jelly! I went there last night after a long shift at work. My sister ordered the A1 and I got a A1 with red bean and egg pudding as we were waiting for our drink the guy told us they have no more red bean so I opted for crystal boba instead. The drink was fine and on my one hour drive back home to San Jose I was just sipping from my drink once I got closer to my house I put the straw in and started to taste the toppings, I immediately pulled over to open my door and spit out the egg pudding it was extremely crumbly textured almost firm and it was sour! I accidentally showed up the day before grand opening and stumbled upon some sort of employee training. No one was observing 6ft separation rules and people were seated at tables eating and talking well within 6 ft. Furthermore, behind the counter, no one was wearing a mask while training. I decided to still give them a chance after the grand opening but that didn't go well either. First of all, my wife's drink A2, has matcha powder which the store uses the wrong kind of dispenser. So first, the powder comes out in clumps and second the girl making the drink kept putting powder in because it didn't spread across the top (duh, it sank into the drink because it was clumping). So my wife ended up getting shots of matcha powder which is meant to enhance the drink, not spike it. My B2 drink was over crushed in the blender and the mix wasn't right. I don't think the owners learned very well from the franchisor. They don't seem to take hygiene very seriously or COVID as the employees are wearing masks wrong if at all and they are not using gloves. I waited such a long time for this place to open because I was going to the Pleasanton locations, but l still go there because they know what they are doing. read more
