Service is pretty poor and there's no hint of friendliness here and instead an efficient system that works like a good socialist society. That's the feeling I get talking with the employees. The drinks are middle ground but the food is what's hurting the experience. Cheap to have fried tofu with only tofu and fried in batter that's sticky and gooey. If you try to separate the goo from the tofu you'll have a small handful of tofu or less. I have no clue what's this batter but it's not good and soaks oil. This was my favorite local boba place for years, until... I always get a drink with salted cheese and always appreciated that they had the clear lid with a hole for straw and a separate sipping hole. It makes it such a great experience to be able to get just the amount of salted cheese in your sip without having to do some awkward straw gymnastics. But this time... to my horror, they gave me my drink with a regular sealed plastic lid initially. I asked for the "other lid" and they gave me this monstrosity. Clear plastic lid, but only a hole for the straw. No sipping hole. That defeats the purpose of this lid completely. There is another indent on the lid for the hole plug which serves no purpose for me. So just like most other boba places, we have to go back to doing straw gymnastics to get the salted cheese. I know, first world problems. But the prior lid was so functional. It's a shame. Aside from that, the drink is still good. This Happy Lemon location is in the Greenhouse Marketplace. This is a semi-busy plaza, but there is usually plenty of parking in the huge lot. Service is alright, just decent and also, remember to scan your app for rewards before you pay. I'm so frustrated by how inconsistently bad this place is. The first time I came here was when they first opened. I was super excited, as everyone had been talking about happy lemon. I ordered my drink and they got the Ice levels and sweetness wrong. I figured it was an honest mistake, but decided that since there were two other boba shops in the plaza, I would just go to those instead. I've had really amazing consistent experience with ShareTea and Duckface. The boba was always soft, sweet and chewy. My drinks were always right. Well, my sister came into town and wanted some happy lemon. So we ordered some drinks, and by the time we brought it home it was too late to take it back. The big issues here? THE BOBA IS HARD, AND FLAVORLESS. Hands down, the worst I've ever had. I can't tell if the boba is stale, or they ran out of time and couldn't hydrate their boba fast enough. I got their Green Tea with salted Cheese and the Boba Milk Tea Cake. Both were amazing and will probably be my usual. I loved that the Green tea wasn't too sweet and it blended great with the salted cheese at the top. I recommend drinking this from the cap, not the straw. I am so disappointed with my experience here. I called at 12:01, 12:05 and 12:10 (they open at noon). Nobody picked up my call both times. When I get there, there is over 6 people ahead of me and just to order it took almost 10 min. Then it took another 10-15 to wait for my drinks - by then I saw them picking up their phone for orders so of course that didn't sit well with me. They also put very little boba in their drinks. I was only halfway done with a large cup and the boba was already done. I feel like they didn't portion out the boba that well. On top of that, the boba was kind of hard. This review is only for the original bubble waffle. I didn't try any drinks. This is probably one of the better tasting bubble waffles in the Bay Area. My favorite is Eggettes, but they've closed one location and I'm hardly on that side. Anyway, the bubble waffle was warm when I got it. Wrapped in such a cute lemon shaped wrapper! The bubble waffle shell was slightly crispy with a soft mochi like interior. I think they definitely use quite a bit of mochiko to get that mochi like texture. The sweetness was just right, maybe a bit too sweet - I'm guessing white sugar, but oh well. I was too full to finish the entire waffle because I had a huge bowl of pho, so I saved half to toast up tomorrow. read more

I usually get 100% sweetness and half ice and I think it's perfect to balance out the bitterness of the grapefruit. It includes grapefruit pulp and actual grapefruit too which is a plus. I've been into Happy Lemon again and this is the location I frequent since it is close to home! Also, it is one of the few boba places in the area that is open past 8pm during the pandemic. Their drinks are consistent here, though I can really only speak to this for their Salted Cheese Green Tea. I always tell myself that I'll try something new the next time I come, but I only ever visit when I crave that one drink! They are an express location, and due to the pandemic, do not offer seating. This is okay for me as my friends and I usually visit after dinner on weeknights. With how shady the plaza is, I definitely would just grab-and-go in the evenings.
