Nice diner with great food! Amazing view and excellent service. I will be back here again. I just ordered a simple one pancake breakfast with 2 scrambled eggs and sausage but everything was great. My friend ordered the sunny side eggs with potatoes, bacon, sourdough toast and she loved it. Huge portion too. Their coffee is good too. Toni took care of us and did a great job. Sit on the patio and enjoy the San Diego skyline!

Saturday, 2-14-2026: Stopped here for lunch before going to the commissary at 32nd Street. It was a beautiful, sunny day but a bit breezy. Had it not been we would have opted to dine outside. There was no wait when we arrived so we were seated right away. We enjoyed the amazing views from our window. Looking around it wasn't a very big eatery but there was indoor & outdoor dining. There is also a counter out front. The interior was bright and clean but could use updating. Our server was very friendly and efficient. I had the grilled cheese on sourdough with tots while hubby wanted the tuna salad on wheat with tots. We enjoyed our yummy meals and it prepared us for a commissary trip. Never a good idea to shop for food on an empty stomach! They serve good old-fashioned comfort food. We will definitely return!

Have been coming here for over 20 years now, the view is always the best, the customer service just as I've always remembered, Dahlia is a main staple. Food was delicious and just what I wanted. And the weather was fantastic. Gotta live Sunny San Diego!!

Simple diner food with an awesome view of the Balboa golf course. Service was also great. Good to come early to get an outside seating if you want a view

Great lunch with views over the course and downtown San Diego. We enjoyed a chicken salad and a BLT for lunch. Both were excellent. We also tried their appetizer platter that came with four sauces. Friendly service, good vintage vibes and a lively crowd of all ages!

Food is average but there are two things that elevate this spot and make it a worthy visit even if you aren't golfing: The salsa (you have to ask for it) The view on the patio. One of THE BEST if not the best view of any spot in San Diego. Really a hidden gem for those in the know. Prices have gone way up in recent years, but it still just a solid unpretentious spot with an amazing view. Worth the visit if you want to escape the busy neighborhoods for a bit.

The food was excellent, but the view was AMAZING!

The food was excellent, the service quick, but the view is AMAZING! If we lived here we would be regulars.

Friendly staff, clean bathrooms. Golf course diners have some of the best diner foods. This place is no exception. Nice view of Balboa, good spot after a round of golf.

Alright, I was purposefully not going here making assumptions based on anything attached to something else. You know what I mean. Hotel restaurants are always a scam. I was wrong. Great diner, such a great diner! The driving rage was closed so we had time to kill and figured we might was well give it a shot. Looking over the menu it had all the classics. I went for a random choice at 6:30am and got a sandwich. I figured it had an egg which makes it breakfast. They didn't have any tater tots and asked what I wanted instead, so obviously I asked if I can have it with hash browns. Vibe is the word for this place. Good service, very unique cabin vintage feel. It's all out of place almost like the city just threw it together and they made it work. That's.. wait, yeah, that's exactly what's happening here but I'm here for it. Haha. The people running it are awesome. Will be back. Also if you read this, you read that right, I had a double at 6:30am ;)

No complaints! This is obviously meant to be a golf restaurant and bar, but open to anyone! We stopped for brunch on a walk and had a great time. A bucket of beer and two eggs breakfast plate and it was great! The view is 100% worth the stop!

Read a number of good reviews and decided to make our way over for brunch. The cafe is small and has an old school vibe to it. Has a number of barstools in the front with a counter and dining room with tables and booths. Also has an outside dining area for guests. Rebecca greeted us warmly and laughed when we told her that it was our first time in and no we aren't from out of town, lol! She quickly reassured us that she's heard that before and has been told their cafe is somewhat of a hidden gem. After a few minutes of looking over the menu I decided on the calamari steak with O'Brien potatoes and side of sourdough toast. Hubs went with the hamburger steak, tater tots, salad w/blue cheese dressing and sourdough toast. Both meals were brought out hot and tasted great! The calamari was thin (but not overly so) and lightly breaded, crispy and tender at the same time. Delicious! The potatoes were fried just right, crispy and had grilled onions with bell peppers throughout, yum! Hubs ate all of his food and said he'd order it again. While we were there (around 1ish) we saw most patrons were ordering late breakfast meals. I will definitely be back to try the breakfast!! Come check this place out!

Service is great. I come in the evenings while my girl golfs with her Highschool team. Great view! Simple good comfort food.

I ate here this past Sunday and have eaten here quite a bit before. It's delicious and the perfect way to end a round. Standard diner/bar food fair. Chicken strips, BLTs, French fries, tater tots, etc. Service is quick and efficient. Sit on the patio and enjoy a nice view of the last hole on the 18 course and the San Diego City skyline.

    The view!!

    Do they have free parking?

Yes, lots of free parking. If the lot in front of the diner is full you can keep going and there's an extra lot passed the stop sign.

We don't use much anymore, but I couldn't quite place it not really spicy just there. they use the standard jalapeños for spice, which I would think a specialty shop like this would've had you know spicy peppers. looks like it would be a good place if you had a party to have a little area for you guests. Going in if it's your first time might be a little confusing because there's a tacos shop right there and that looks like where you would go in Giorgino's door is a solid gray that you would think would be like a back door or maybe an old school speakeasy so it's blink and end up in the taco shop. For one person, I was shy of $30 I guess I would've expected more in the way of the actual food either more flavor it would be more sandwich. More fries, more flare in the actual dish.

If this were the first time, we might understand, things happen and sometimes you have to work shorthanded, but this wasn't the first time, more like 4th or 5th time over a period of several months and every time we come they are clearly understaffed and this place gets packed so it's not like they don't need more people. An entire restaurant is run by 2 servers, seems like maybe the owner and her son, and we could only see 2 kitchen staff working their asses off behind the glassed in kitchen, which likely means no breaks for any staff and everything takes forever. If you don't mind sitting and waiting for your food and drinks, by all means go here. The first time we were almost late for a show because dinner for 4 of us took almost 2 hours. We hope this review might inspire them to expand their staff because the food is delish and we want to keep coming back!

But alas, Carbon Angela's Kitchen deserves every flower, every reservation, every "you have to try this place" text thread, and every bit of love. This place has become one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in San Diego. Easily top five for me, and as someone who dines out a lot for a living, that is not a casual statement. There are places you like, places you recommend, and then there are places that start to feel woven into your actual life. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is that for me. Angela is truly the heart of this place. She has this way of making you feel like you are not just coming in for dinner, but being welcomed into something she deeply cares about. And Emanuele is absolutely part of that magic too. Together, they have built something that feels warm, generous, soulful, and so special. They feel like long-lost friends and family now, and I am honestly just so proud of them and all they are creating. The food is the kind that makes you want to order with the whole table in mind. The griglia mista is hands down one of the best investments you can make if you are dining with a group. It is the meat platter, it is the moment, and it is absolutely worth ordering. Four to five people can split it, especially if you are also doing appetizers, salad, wine, and a few extra things for the table. It is such a perfect nod to what Carbon was before Angela took over, when the space leaned more BBQ, but now it feels beautifully married with Angela's warmth, Italian influence, and the kind of hospitality that makes the whole meal feel like an experience. And please do not sleep on the rest of the menu. The short rib is fire. The arancino trio is always a yes. The eggplant croquette? Obsessed. The crespelle? So good. The Everything Salad is my favorite salad on the menu, and the street corn should never, under any circumstances, be skipped. I said what I said. The wine selection is top tier, the appetizers are memorable, and the whole place has that rare magic of feeling cozy, intentional, and completely unpretentious. You can come for a low-key dinner, a girls' night, a celebration, or one of those "we just need a really good meal and a really good glass of wine" kind of evenings. And the back patio? Perfect for an evening under twinkling lights. It is one of those spaces that just begs for a long table, good conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of night that accidentally turns into a core memory. They also have catering menus available, which is very important information to keep in your back pocket if you are hosting anything soon. What Angela has built is honestly something to behold. One of the hardest-working restaurateurs doing the dang thing in a city like San Diego, and now opening Bedda across the way too? I am in awe and wonder watching it all unfold. It takes so much courage, grit, taste, excellence, and heart to build what they are building, and you can feel all of it in the room. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is a true labor of love, a hidden gem, and one of those places I will keep cheering for again and again. Go hungry. Order the griglia mista. Get the Everything Salad. Do not skip the street corn. Share Share Share, so you can try a little bit of everything and do a tried and true family style meal, you won't regret it.
