I've tried a lot of sushi - from Nobu to Koi express - and as it stands right now, this will be my number one sushi spot in Lexington. I haven't found the upscale quality (even at "upscale" restaurants) that I can get in California, but this is the best I've found in town so far. Don't expect a super exciting sushi bar experience, this was more functional and that's OK with me. As long as they're serving up, good yellowtail, I'm happy. The sushi is good and the prices are good. The Boba tea is some of the best I've had in town as well. I will definitely be back and hoping to try out that all you can eat sushi experience soon. read more

Wow! What an amazing place... I was doubting coming here for date night but I'm glad we did. The place is so nicely decorated and very clean. The service was fast, kind and friendly. I also loved the fact that they offer more than all you can eat sushi, they offer wings. Their roll selection is superb! Great variety. So is their drink selection. I came here bc the rotating sushi bar had a crazy long wait. This is a small place and the food was really good- I enjoyed everything I ordered. I can't really eat enough to rationalize ayce but it's worth it to me to be able to try multiple things. I do so a lot when traveling for work so it's not something that regularly bothers me, but dining alone here was a bit awkward. I would've preferred sitting at the sushi bar (didn't request it and in retrospect probably would've been worse), but was seated at a table directly in front of the bar. All good, but the staff also hovers at the sushi bar constantly, which felt like they were hovering over me. One of the servers stood in front of my table leaned on the bar on her phone, chatting with coworkers, negotiating tables with other server, complaining about the woman at the front desk, etc for almost the entire time I was there (about 1.5 hour). One of the best places to have sushi in Lexington. They have unlimited sushi which is an amazing deal. I have never found a place in Lexington which offers unlimited Sushi. The lunch deals are pretty frugal and money saving. You can get lunch specials for $15 and dinner specials for around $22. The lunch specials won't have the entire menu but it is a very good deal for $15. Make sure to eat the entire items that you are getting because you need to pay for the items that are not eaten. It makes sense because they don't want you to order too much and waste food. Gyoza is my favorite appetizer. I usually get at least 3 plates of Gyozas. Seaweed salad is a yummy appetizer too. Shumai is pretty decent. Californian roll is the safe one to get if you don't know what you want. They have inidividual sushi's too which would be great to try if you don't know what kind of rolls you like. Unagi (Eel) is my favorite. They also have Sushi special appetizers (Dinner specials only) Tuna Tataki is my favorite. Also be aware that special Sushi appetizers take a little longer to prepare if they are busy. They have 3 kinds of desserts and I usually get the green tea icecream. Give this place a try if you want to try all kinds of Sushi for a cheap price. read more

Either way, he said that he could eat a BUNCH of sushi. He couldn't eat as much as me and my friend E. The tradition here is to order in waves of 6 so as to receive your sushi on the coveted "sushi boat." It's gorgeous. You and your friend must then order 2 waves of sushi boat. Then, you must end with a single "Baked Philly" roll. It's a tradition. You will thank me but also hate me as that is a bunch of sushi. Will you find yourself saying a prayer that you make it through all of the rolls? Likely. Then you go next door to the Game X Change and find yourself a copy of "The Original Kings of Comedy" with Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer, and D. L. Hughley. Great place for Japanese food in Lexington. Try their Odon. I like the seafood. It's loaded with all kinds of great sea creatures and the broth is like a warm hug. Be careful it does come piping hot so don't burn you tongue and not be able to taste all that goodness. The chicken odon is better than most chicken noodle soup you can find anywhere in the area and it's just comfort food. The sushi is made fresh and lunch to go is very reasonably priced. The menu isn't super clear about how this works but you get a menu that you can put check marks next to any items you are interested in eating. Now, you can check whatever you want and eat as many different dishes as you want with a caveat...If you order it and don't eat it, you will be charged for it. They don't want you to waste food. As for the food, nothing really sticks out as being super or something you will just crave. The sushi is decent. if you are one that likes to eat large quantities of sushi, but don't want to pay a large quantity of money, you might want to check this out. From the outside, it really doesn't look like much. They have their menu and pictures of their dishes plastered everywhere. Upon walking inside, there's a fish tank with large goldfish and koi fish before you get inside the restaurant. The entranceway is colder than the restaurant and the fish tank looks dirty and cramped, and I am a little concerned about the fish. Given, that's not food related. Going inside, the staff didn't have a host, they just asked you how many was in your party from afar and were pointed towards a table. The wait staff is so sweet and kind. The wait time for food isn't bad. We ordered, and within a couple minutes, our food came out quick. We got our gyoza after we finished our sushi. Food quality - my God. Given the price and the look of the place, I'd be a little worried about the quality. However, the tuna looked and tasted superb. Very fresh. In other places, I've had troubles with ebi looking gray around the edges, but here, not at all. It looked perfect. My only gripe is that it tasted of ginger from the sushi chef accidentally touching the ginger before handling the ebi. Aside from that, the spicy crab roll, while it was imitation crab, it still had this smoky quality to it that other rolls of its kind don't have. Their spicy mayo or sauce was so delectable. When we did get our gyoza, we also got an order of spring rolls on the house. We loved them! We're not into vegetable heavy items, but that was flavorful! The crunchiness of the outside negated the vegetable texture. The gyoza...I love Japanese food. I have been to multiple places and tried multiple dumplings. The general consensus is that a lot of places get store bought dumplings and fry them. The few places that don't don't have nearly as much flavor as Happy Sushi. The gyoza was not overly oily or crunchy. It had a yummy browning and while it did have a light crunch, it wasn't teeth hurtingly crunchy you get at some places. The filling is pork, they do not skimp on the seasoning or flavor. It was amazing. We went yesterday and I swear I saw thise gyoza in my dreams. So good that after being full, we wanted a second order. The ponzu sauce was great. Overall, quality was great. The two brown sugar boba teas are huge for 6 dollars. Usually, anywhere we've went to, it's expensive, but here, it seems that even though it's a similar price point, the quantity is more. Shake your boba when you get it to separate the syrup from the tea! The taste was up to bar. It's even more flavorful than Bumble Bites in Richmond. Staff consistently checked on us. read more

My husband and I recently discovered Happy Sushi and now this is his go to option to eat lunch after church. He usually chooses the all you can eat sushi option (you order the items you want on a piece of paper, it's not a buffet). There are several different combination specials on a laminated piece of paper. If one isn't on your table, ask for it, as the paper where you order sushi from doesn't list prices. They bring the food out to you fairly quickly. The first two times that we went the sushi was $14.99 for lunch all you can eat, but the last time that we went lunch on Sunday was the dinner price. I guess that they changed the pricing. I am not adventurous when it comes to sushi so I usually get a California roll and a Crab Rangoon roll and I enjoy both of them. I also have tried the salad (heavy on the sauce), miso soup, and dumpling soup. The miso soup was okay. The dumpling soup was much better. It has never been very busy while we have been there. I travel through Lexington for work weekly and occasionally go there on the weekend and this is always a scheduled stop. Hands down, the best sushi in Lexington.
