This coffee shop was recommended by my son who visits us once a year. He raves about their pastries everytime he visits. And he goes to J.J. every single day. We tried it today. I ordered a 16 oz. Chai latte with almond spinach and mushroom quiche. My husband ordered a cold brew with cherry syrup, cream and a quiche as well. When we got our drinks my latte tastes watered down. I could not taste the coffee but only the diluted Chai flavor. My husband's coffee was delivered by the barista and she was asking if he needed cream. My husband said there is no cream on this coffee to which she said that is why I am asking do you need cream? I told her softly, that I'm sorry but he is hard of hearing, and she whispered im not going to argue here. It is surprising and disappointing that she behaved the way she did, when the coffee was ordered with cream in the first place. The only good thing is Guillermo ( Bill) who was very gracious and kind enough to offer to replace our coffees. I asked for a extra shot and it husband asked for just a regular coffee. The quiche was good. Noise level is moderate. They have a sitting area outside. Did not get to taste the pastries because I just want to be out of there. Customer service: the cashier was respectful but the barista was not. The coffee seems diluted. Poor customer service. And to think that my husband is a veteran, and the lady was rude. This coffee shop is an awful place to get coffee. The Coffee is watered down, I was charged 0.80 cents for cream and .60 cents for sweetener bringing my 16 ounce coffee to almost $7.00 then they added a literal drop of cream, the coffee was black and watery. My wife's coffee was supposed to have 3 shots it had one shot. To add insult to injury the cashier and the barista was both to arrogant snooty immature 22 year old girls. Their parents must be proud... Oh the cost for2 lousy medium watered down coffees and two small pieces of burned quiche. $32.50. read more

Answered all of our questions about which foods might be better or flavors we were considering. JJ coffee is the best. No other coffee shop is as good as this one. Sometimes the wait time gets a bit long from the time you order to the time they bring it out to your car but that's ok. Also, they may need to reconsider other to go cups. The other day I had one in my cup holder in my car and it dripped out due to the cheap cup it was in. Today my wife brought me a coffee home after running an errand this morning and I had the same issue. The white cups they use, I've never had this issue but the brown and orange ones they use are kind of janky. read more

Nice decor, lots of seating inside along with plenty of outdoor seating perfect for a quick stop before checking into Coachella. They had a self service ordering kiosk but it wasn't possible to order their homemade empanadas although they were clearly in stock as they were in a pastry case. This wasn't a negative, just a little confusing as a customer. I had the banana salted caramel iced latte, it was a bit too sweet and quite milky, which overpowered what should be robust, rich espresso flavor-- something a good latte highlights. I also had the beef empanada. They looked really good and I actually loved the filling, it was so flavorful and savory. My only issue was with the pastry dough, it definitely seemed undercooked. It was still edible but definitely took away from my enjoyment and I ended up just scooping out the filling at the end and eating just that. I'm not sure if I just got a slightly undercooked batch, so I will give the benefit of the doubt as the filling was just so tasty. read more

Not very respectful. I came in and placed a $40 order for the family and met up with a regular customer there who suggested this spot to meet at. After grabbing the food for my family then going to the other side of the room to meetup with up with the regular customer who was already ordering, I asked someone at the front for the wifi code, as she was about to give it to me, her manager said no and I asked why as it was given to others. She said it was because I did not purchase anything. I explained to her who I was with and showed my receipt and she let the lady give me the code. Mind you, she was furious and did not apologize and the lady who gave me the code backed her up and said the manager didn't see it and that's why she was acting like that. Won't be back and neither will the regular customer who invited me there and apologized for the unnecessary disrespect. read more

The Manager at Just Java is rude and egotistical. We are locals and when i brought back my Flat White after (3) sips because it was too sweet, I asked to fill it up with 1" of regular coffee. We ordered $20.00 of pastries and a Chai Tea and left a $4.00 tip. The Manager must have given me a tspn of coffee in my cup and I asked the other Server whom I tipped for support. I visited in June '25. The food and drinks were ok and I chose this place to support LQ small business. However, the process of ordering and payment could use improvement. While you wait in line, there is no menu to look at. You must be at the window to see what they have. So we waited about 5 minutes in line and then we got to the window and we are expected to know what we want right away. Please create a new menu for customers to look at while waiting in line. I'm sure people would order more food if they had more time to read the menu and think about it. Secondly, was the payment process. The clerk handed me a dirty notebook with the receipt to sign. Long gone are the days that we need to sign for Small credit card purchases. I can't imagine how many dirty hands have held that book. Make payments easier for your customers. Like I said, I wanted to support La Quinta small business. However, maybe there is another business to support. The whole transaction took about 10 minutes when it could've taken less than five. And my view reminded me of how much better this place could be. Now I don't shop at Starbucks so I won't go there, but you could take a lesson from their playbook. Maybe earlier in day (we were there 1P I think) would've been better. Today had the spinach quiche and thought excellent. Very moist with good amount of shredded onion and sliced mushroom along with the spinach. The top had a nice crispness, almost like being put under broiler a few seconds. I found it really noteworthy (11A). Had delightfully relaxing visit, as not crowded today and made it so nice for extended conversation. This coffee shop has changed so much under the new ownership. Clearly as you can see by the past reviews right here on Yelp. Sad really. The prices and up charges are extremely ridiculous and the rudeness of the staff is just so unprofessional, its like we as the customer are doing them a favor by being there and oh the tip before we even get the order as they take their time in doing so. Very frustrating and disappointing for a small business owned place, that we would have gladly continued to support had it not been for the poor customer service. My friends and I have found a much more customer friendly environment and we will never be back to this place again. We end up leaving frustrated and mad at the attitudes of this place and shake our heads . Don't waste your time and don't waste your hard earned money either, only to be treated so poorly. You know it's a win when you return multiple times within one week! While my reoccurring visits definitely include coffee, I'm currently addicted to their handmade empanadas. These Spanish meat pockets are topped with their delicious chimichurri sauce and filled with options like chicken, beef, veggie and spinach. As far as drinks go, their Frosies have been a fan-favorite at my parents house and a great summer beverage. These classic caffeinated drinks are blended with ice and topped with whip cream. My personal favorite is the Chai Latte! Plus, this coffee shop hosts its very own drive through, making it easy to get in and out with your caffeinated goodies. The only reason I chose to dock a star is due to the lack of Wifi. Since the world is now working from home it's been great escaping to local coffee shops to increase productivity. IMO, wifi is one of the more vital pieces when choosing a cafe to frequent. read more

I've been coming to this shop regularly, for years and always recommend it to others. Sadly, I will not be spending my money here anymore. I ordered 2 pitaya bowls. They cost approx. $10.95. One bowl I asked for everything on it, the other just strawberries. I expected to have both bowls with the same amount of pitaya & fruit. The bowl with just strawberries had literally 1/4 the amount of fruit and less than half filled with pitaya and I was charged full price but got 60% of the product. When I called, they told me that they do not add more of the single product to give you the same amount or charge less if you ask for only one fruit and this was common practice for smoothie places- it is not. I frequent most of our local shops and I ALWAYS get as much product as a regular bowl if I am paying full price. I understand the economy isn't that great right now but clearly giving customers a laughable amount and claiming it is fair is just not right. read more

Went looking for coffee and saw this place and decided to try it. They have a good amount of things on their menu so will be back for their bagel sandwiches. They also have pastries and empanadas of different kinds. Did get to try their beef empanada which was pretty good. I got to try their iced white mocha which was strong but very good. I also got a cheese danish in which all cheese danishes are pretty much the same; delicious. The workers are very sweet and the space is pretty big for those who like the enjoy their coffee right there and then. I'm torn because the pastries were very tasty but the amount of time to place the order was excessive and not because there was a long line. They were clearly under staffed. I wondered if it was open today the windows on this place have sun shades with pictures, so it's hard to look through past the shades. And there are usually cars parked in front. I don't know if I got the tail end of it , It was almost time for closing. While I waited for my.empanadas I got a Carmel iced latte, it was good. I usually get their whole being called in. I'm a desert rat (born and raised in the Coachella Valley) and I drove by this place probably hundreds of times when I go fuel up at the Ralphs gas station. I stopped by because I didn't get a chance to make my coffee this morning. I normally prepare my own coffee grinding up quality coffee beans and using the pour-over method via Chemex. I know what good coffee should taste like. The coffee here is very solid. Very smooth, taste like a medium roast to me. No acidity or "burnt" tasting. The staff was very nice and genuine. The chicken "Argentinian empanada" was delicious. Looks like I got the past one. There is even a drive-thru option if you are in uniform/work clothes and don't feel comfortable getting off.
