First I want to say WOW, the ube flavor is strong with this shop. And no that's not shade, that's praise. Most shops have bland, artificial ube flavors but you can tell they use authentic ube flavors for their syrups. Maybe it's artificial but whatever they use it's so strong and delicious. One of my favorite desserts is the ube mochi at Foodland in Hawaii and their ube reminds me so much of that. I had their matcha ube latte and the day prior my bf had the ube latte so we got to try how the syrups taste in both a tea and espresso drink. Okay enough about ube! Moving on to the food. I tried the chicken empanada, beef empanada and the matcha cookie. All were so good and flavorful, quite possibly my favorite empanada. The dough is so soft and the meat is perfectly seasoned. As someone who appreciates freshly roasted coffee, I made an effort to give this place a try. After a complicated wait--which I won't go into--I ordered an iced decaf latte, only to be told that they don't offer decaf. Of course, it's their business to decide what they want to serve. But for those of us who have a medical reason to avoid caffeine, decaf isn't simply a preference or an inferior version of coffee. It's often the only option. What disappointed me most was the feeling that decaf drinkers simply aren't part of the clientele this establishment cares to serve. This place has done the area a great service - it's hard to find boutique gourmet coffee shops and this one hits the mark! Cold brew was probably the best in the area, the ube, pandan, and banana flavors all add speciality flavors to mix it up for those who are feeling adventurous or those who want a taste of home. They use special milk which has a coconut milk base to the pandan latte which is delicious for those who love pandan. And all of the savory and sweet pastries we tried were amazing. There's ample parking in front, but there is not a restroom inside. It's a very small shop. They have 5-6 two-seater tables and an ate in the back that can seat maybe 3-4. If you like your coffee a little unique- try their UBE (a purple yam from the Philippines that has a nutty, vanilla taste) and / or PANDAN (A Southeast Asian plant that has a coconutty, vanilla and slight grassy taste) lattes. I ordered the brown sugar latte, and it was great...strong, and not overly sweet. We were curious about their empanadas, so we ordered one beef (for my husband) and one chicken for me. I did not try the beef empanada, but the chicken one was tasty. At first I was thrown a bit because the dough definitely had a sweetness to it which I was not expecting. I think I am just used to Mexican empanadas which typically are not made with a sweet dough. The filling was similar to a pot pie filling -chicken and peas, only not creamy. I ordered the Pandan latte and while it was pretty green in color, I could barely taste the Pandan. Not sure if that was more food coloring than flavoring. The drink was also pretty milky. For $9 with oat milk this was not worth it, but it wasn't terrible. My friend ordered the ube matcha and she felt similarly. She couldn't really taste the ube flavor. Very popular Filipino fusion cafe. Vibes inside are great, feels like a small business and the person taking our order said their coffee beans come straight from the Philippines. My partner and I thought the drinks were okay. He got a panda latte and I got pistachio. Both were more on the milky side in my opinion, the syrup flavors were there but on the mild side. Note on the menu the varraco latte is a plain latte and the Pinoy varraco is an americano. I would want to go back and try just their drip/cold brew to judge the coffee better. The stand out thing about this coffee shop is the pastries. We tried the pork adobo padesal, sisig burrito, and beef empanada. All were very good but my favorite being the pandesal. Service was very friendly and they do have a rewards system via phone number that includes a birthday reward. Parking in a shopping complex so no issues there. There is no restroom available for customers. Inside seating is limited, maybe about 10 stools as pictured with low tables and one outlet near the couch in the back. Made time to visit this place after all the Coachella partying! Ofcourse found this place on Yelp looking for matcha in the area. It was fairly busy when we got there on a Monday morning but the staff was efficient. They greeted us as soon as we walked in. They're also roasting beans! We got the ube matcha, brown sugar latte, adobo pandesal and sisig burrito. W tip everything came up to around $40. The ube matcha was delicious - matcha was strong and you could taste the ube. The brown sugar latte was amazing - the beans truly shine. The adobo pandesal is soft and full of flavor. The sisig burrito was also delicious - I wish there's rice in it but the crispy pieces made up for it. I recommend this place if you're in the area. There is pretty limited seating in the actual shop and the chairs don't make it a conducive space to stay for too long. They had so many delicious looking pastries. I found this place because it was near where I was staying and I was definitely impressed! They have Ube Lattes and Pandan Lattes. I first tried the Pandan latte and it was really good. I came back another day to try the Ube latte which was good too. Let's say I liked the Pandan latte a lot where I came back on the third day. I saw some people ordering the matcha drinks and those looked good too. This place also has a cool atmosphere, they have their roasting machine and they also show the culture of the Philippines. You can tell this place is a go to spot because I noticed a lot of customers talking to the team in a first name basis which is cool because they seem to be the community coffee shop. This spot is in a plaza with a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a modern setup with about 4-5 tables for seating and some additional outdoor seating as well. For their menu, they have a variety of different coffee, matcha, and tea drinks to choose from along with some fresh pastries as well. I love trying new coffee shops in places we travel to. Bonus if it's Filipino inspired coffees. There's plenty of parking in the lot. The shop has both outdoor and indoor seating. It's very clean and aesthetically pleasing. They also sell merch like candles, etc. The menu seemed enticing. Service was ok/good, but nothing to write a Yelp review about. I loved seeing the syrups in the cafe area, but couldn't tell if they were made in house. I would've loved to hear about the coffee from the barista or read about it somewhere in the shop. I did ask some questions, but it felt like they didn't know their product that well, maybe? I went and read their website later. I ordered the BananaQ Matcha. It tasted great, exactly like it sounds. It was expensive though. Perhaps because the coffee is imported? I'm ok with money benefitting coffee farmers in Philippines, but it was like $10?! It was super busy on a Sunday morning which is to be expected. The line moved quickly and I enjoyed the ambiance. I loved the concept of this coffee shop and what they're trying to bring with the food and drinks. However the vibe of a place can only take you so far. We have been here before to try the strawberry matcha and it was mid at best. We wanted to give it another try because we enjoyed the atmosphere so much as well as the customer service. We tried the brown sugar matcha and the beef empanada. The brown sugar matcha was disappointing. I would say that it tastes exactly like a brown sugar boba with milk. You can hardly taste any matcha. The beef empanada had great flavor! I've had both Filipino and Latin empanadas and although slightly different, I really enjoy both! The dough here was a bit chewy and slightly thicker than I would have liked but I know that filipino empanadas use a different and sometimes thicker, sweet dough so that's just personal preference. Personally I feel like if you haven't been exposed to this kind of cuisine or quality matcha drinks, this place would seem amazing. So here I am in Palm Desert and there is this highly rated coffee house that sells Phillipino food, and drinks with a Phillipino twist. Count me in. You won't find this in North Dakota.. I went with the popular iced ube latte even though the price is painful ($8). If you have never tried ube, you are missing out. The color of the driink is an amazingly vibrant purple. The consistency is somewhat thick. The taste is delicious. The price was steep but the drink was wonderful.
