There were two female employees who decided that it was funny to be disrespectful and make fun of their customers. While my husband and I were ordering the two girls that stood at the front desk were chuckling while repeatedly looking at me and then down at the desk, so I asked "what's so funny?", one of their responses was "oh nothing she's just drawing you" and the other girl quickly put the paper away as if she didn't want me to see then all of a sudden things weren't as funny anymore. This was my first time here and it was unwelcoming and it made me feel ostracized. Also, they don't have a drive thru like some have said in the reviews. The drink itself was fine 6/10. Stopped in for an after happy hour treat with my girls and was surprised - good and bad. It was a Friday night. Parking - sketchy, dirty, stinky and keep all eyes open esp at night and oh people that come here don't know how to park (either do the people that work at Fadi's) Service- girl at counter was great, friendly and helpful. She is the reason for the 3rd star or else I would have given it 2 stars. Price - so so Taste - delicious Atmosphere - sketchy. Couches were a little dirty (stained) and there was a large group of people playing cards that were loud and obnoxious. Another patron told us that when you tip on a card (which we did) that the owner keeps it instead of distributing it to the employees. That is breaking some type of business practice. Disturbing. Came here once for boba on the way home a few years ago. Do know this is the old-style boba, before the boba hype, so their drinks are noticeably less sweet than even 30-50% sugar at the newer or popular chain boba shops. I got the original, which was ok, but the pearls were not that soft. My friend got the strawberry smoothie, which was too creamy and foamy. You could tell it was extremely artificial and did not even taste good or sweet enough. She also got the shrimp fried rice which was not only greasy but had a weird distinct taste most likely from the oil used. From other reviews, I suppose I would come here for a quiet work space outside of the house for the wifi and outlets. This is one of the newer locations for the Teahouse chain (pretty sure it's the same business as the one on shepherd/westhemier, galleria, and the two on bellaire). Like all the Teahouses, their drink prices run on the high side (boo) as others have pointed out, $4-5...which is almost the cost of a meal! The drinks are alright though - can't taste the difference from the other Teahouse chains. Their food menu was never appealing enough for me to try out... It's not a bad place to study, and there's not too many tapioca places in the area. One of the things I don't like about the place is that they primarily use glass tables, which is really tough for optical/laser mice for you laptop users. There also tends to be more room here relative to their westheimer/shepherd location, which always seems ridiculously packed...also a bit quieter too. -8/5/2012 edit- As someone recently pointed out to me, this is actually not part of the Teahouse chain, but in fact its own business that just licenses Teahouse's drink menu and branding. Got a Thai tea with a scoop of ice cream & I was saddened lol I also got one of the pudding jelly things in it which wasn't bad. The ice cream was like melted and then frozen multiple times because it had that sticky chewiness to it and it was inside the tea. The Thai Tea itself wasn't too bad but they're honeydew milk tea is better. Either way they are just mediocre there's plenty of better tea spots in the area !!! The first time I came here I ordered like a passion fruit tea which was terrible and undrinkable and lucky for me I was stuck with 2 of them since it was buy one get one free. Found this place on my 3rd try, location was a little difficult to find. The correct location is the old address of agu ramen (9310 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77063), next to chuys. But, once I got my late night boba fix, I was unexpectedly surprised by the rich flavor of my drink. I got a taro smoothie with boba. This was the best boba I've had so far in Houston. The place was clean as well, and it's over of the few places open till late (open till midnight on Saturday and 11pm on other days). Definitely would recommend to try their drinks here. This place has so much going on I just could not focus on one thing. I walked in with Boba tea on my mind but walked out trying to digest everything. They have large selection of boba drinks and signage everywhere for food specials. They have a large counter area and the staff is not all very welcoming. If you try to focus on ordering you become too distracted by the decor of the place that includes dragons, bamboo, white chairs, glass tables, pool tables, paintings, displays, pots, swords and perhaps even the whole cast of willy wonka if you looked close enough. We came here late night and we're happy to see that it was open pretty late so we can all hang out. They had pool tables and air hockey but everything you had to pay for which was highly disappointing because who really wants to do that and it wasn't even cheap it was like 10 bucks an hour which is fine but if you just want to play a game or two you shouldn't have to pay more than a few bucks. Well that's how I felt when I came here. I was left feeling unimpressed, dirty, and regretfull for spending my money and time here. I met up with my business partner at this place. I spotted my partner towards the back of establishment and made my way over. She informed me that if I wanted to use the wifi, I had to buy something. The code will be at the bottom of my receipt. Not really what I'm use to. I mean wifi should be a courtesy to your customers. I was going to buy something anyway. But don't coax me into using the wifi. It's like downloading a "free" app and then finding out in order to use it- I have to pay for "in app" purchases as I go. Tf??? So I go to the counter to look at the menu. They have a wide variety of teas and cream slushies with addition to a few food items. (Shrimp fried rice, egg rolls)- things like that. I noticed that there was not a nutritional value tagged along with the beverage items. I decided on the avocado slush. I went out on a limb and asked the associate if he knew the caloric intake of the slush and he didn't. It's cool, not a big deal-but it would have been nice to know. I come back to sit with my partner to wait for my drink to be made. With my receipt in hand I put in the code I had to pay for to get the "free" wifi. I asked to see my partner's receipt and I saw that her code was the same as mine. I mean, if you're going to make customers pay for wifi-at least generate a different code. I get up to retrieve my drink and that's when I started to take a good look at the place. The furniture is outdated and mismatched. The couch we were sitting on was extremely worn and dirty. The atmosphere is pretty incoherent. There are Asian artifacts around with the statue of man that is suppose to be Buddha I suppose??- and pool tables and I believe another sport game contraption. So is this a tea house or a hang out place? I don't know. Because it was confusing. Also my avocado slush tasted weird and made my stomach feel strange. My beautiful white dress that I was looking thicker than a snicker in was ruined with stains that I acquired from sitting on the dirty couch. I felt so gross. I had other things to do when I left- but I had to reroute and go home- in traffic- to change clothes since this place doesn't believe in cleanliness. This place is great for getting some bubble tea. If you've never had it, you should go here to try it. It's a cold tea drink with tapioca balls that you drink through this huge straw. I always get the Thai tea. The atmosphere is great. They have billiards, foosball, and a huge assortment of board games and other games you can play in a group. They're open pretty late on the weekends (I can't confirm past 2 am at this point, but I'll check in to this). I love their red lounge couches and small but appetizing menu of Asian food. Okay, okay. 5 stars! I was going to settle for 4 stars but honestly this has been my go-to spot for years now. Quick service, drinks made super speedy (although all I ever get here is my usual Jasmine Green Tea and coffee jelly), TONS of seating, and the atmosphere (80% of the time depending what time you go) is perfect for studying. I always go from 9p-2am as many nights as I can. I'll either plan to meet a friend up there or go on a whim. After ordering I'll post up, get my laptop out, plug it up into one of the many outlet plugs on the floor, wall, or extension cord. There has NEVER been a time that I've come to HTH and not have an outlet to plug my charger in. There's literally one floor-port for every table. I've got an old MacBook with an old battery so having a charging station is IMPERATIVE for my laptop to operate to its fullest potential. As far as wi-fi, with every purchase, you can ask them for the wi-fi password. There are other routes to getting access to wi-fi but I'll leave that out. HTH offers wi-fi and it's public for customers as long as you make a purchase, let's just leave it at that! Parking is always spacious. There's generally some pretty terrible parkers but just a few spots down is more space or you can parallel park along side the Dunvale side of HTH. If there had to be a downside to HTH, it'll have to be that darn smoothie blender machine. LOUDEST kitchen appliance I've ever heard. I've combated this issue by plugging in my headphones, maxing out the volume, and drowning any other sound so i can focus on my work (which I do regardless while studying!). The noise level isn't quiet unless it starts winding down to the late hours and the preteens/high schoolers have to go to bed soon. The other downside would be if you sit too close to the side-door that leads to the patio, you'll often times get a whiff of the disgusting smoke smell from the cigarette fans that post up outside. I'm biased, I hate smoking. How to combat? Just don't sit close to that door. Easy. My favorite study spot. Hands down. The only place I know that is open regularly until 2am which fits perfectly into my study schedule. read more

I remember when the Happy Tea House opened and I was there on a daily basis. The drinks were great, environment was top notch and clean, staff friendly, and just a great place to be at. During the time I was in college, I spent most of my time here studying and trying their entire menu . It used to be my favorite place to study but then suddenly the environment started to change and the integration of different foods started to change the focal point of the Happy Tea House. It felt like they were trying too hard to bring in customers and just experimenting with different things. With the different changes I decided to try other tapioca houses. Because during my undergrad years this was the spot, I decided to pay another visit recently but all I can say is that the place has lost its quality. The furniture is outdated, the feeling of the place feels old, and poor food quality. I went with a group of friends and we highly disliked our tapioca drinks and 2 of my friends got sick from it. With the many tapioca houses opened now, the happy tea house needs to upgrade their decor and do something about their drinks & food . I don't think we will be visiting the happy tea house any time soon. For now, I say farewell and hope the place makes some changes. read more

Good things about this place is they're quick, space is huge, lots of tables, billiards is an option, parking is plenty, and there's free-wifi. But the bubble tea...it's not exactly up there. Ironically, every time I have come to this place I become increasingly unhappy. Let me relay y'all the story of what led up to my very disappointed experience at this Tea house: I was looking to spend a relaxed evening with my buddies and play a card game or two but was interrupted by a yappy little asian boy who thought it would be just fine to tag along, leaving our group just a little too big. When we try to find seats to get settled, the only place for a group our size would be conveniently next to the restrooms and guess who has to sit the closest? (I'll give you a hint- It's me). Luck strikes when I hear that someone purportedly made butt bombs in the hallway leading to the bathrooms and that the only solution to the problem right now is a few paper napkins to divert attention. I endured the night as fumes Oscar the Grouch would suffocate in clogged my nostrils all whilst holding myself back from assaulting our guest. I always enjoy a refreshing drink so teahouses are always a good treat for me. This particular tea house is not my top pick, but I go here because of the location. I like to grab lunch nearby and have a honeydew cream blend with egg pudding for dessert. It's also conveniently located 3 minutes away from AMC 30 so meeting here before a movie then heading over is always a good before movie treat. As far as the drinks, they are pretty good but some of their flavors are too sweet. Their egg pudding is not as good as other places I've been too and sometimes seems dry/hard. Today I went to get my signature drink today but was given a coconut cream blend with egg pudding instead of the honeydew. I still accepted it because I don't like to waste food/drinks but I would have loved to of had what I ordered. The employee did offer to make me another drink so I did appreciate that. I visited this establishment on May 17 ,2015 . We were a group of 3. We order food and beverages. We sat there having a conversation when all of the sudden we all see a cockroach walking on top of our table. I then contacted one of servers who came over and saw the cockroach and did NOTHING. He did not even bother killing it. He just left it there to continue to crawl under the table. They refused to contact a manger. Accused us of being racist, did not want to refund our money, raised their voices at us and said they couldn't do anything. After several minutes they contacted a supervisor but refused to let us speak to him/her. They told me that someone would be contacting me it has been a few days and I have not been contacted. I took a picture and a video of the cockroach and e mailed it to them immediately. Still have not been contacted or gotten a reply. This place is discussing and infested with cockroaches. They have horrible standards, service and policies. I am appalled by the way we were treated. This place is beyond discussing. read more

My top recommendations are possibly off-menu: chocolate banana, orange banana, and of course, the peach cream tea with tapioca pearls. The ambiance of the place is okay, but I don't tend to hang out there for long. I have met with friends there and enjoyed a few chats, but overall, I get the tea and leave. However, they have games available, wifi (free with purchase), and lots of floor plugs for laptop toters. They also now serve ice cream! I have only ever ordered their Godiva cake, and it was delicious. They have specials during the week, and they're posted on the door. I went again just to get a Tapioca drink and the drink tasted as if they had watered it down it hardly had any flavor and the lady who made the drink forgot to put tapioca in my drink and when I told her so she charged me 54 cents to remake the drink and put tapioca in it. Then really last night we went again and they made the same mistake AGAIN! No tapioca but the guy didn't charge me 54 cents this time to remake the drink. It was my first time ever trying tapioca tea. My server was really patient with me and walked me through how to order and what my options were. I eventually settled for passion fruit green tea and lemonade. Mind you, I always get that teavana combo from Starbucks but this tasted better in my opinion. However, I really hated the tapioca in it. It was too gooey. I hated both the texture and the taste. Inside they have a pool table and a foosball table that you can rent for $10/hr. I've come here twice now, once to check out their tea and bahn mi and the second time for their free wifi (with purchase.) The decor is kinda cool, but it's seen some wear and the second time I went was in the afternoon and it was pretty warm in there. I think they had the air conditioning running at 80 since it was a slow time. Needless to say, uncomfortable. As for the food, I was a little disappointed, hoping for a great find around the corner. Unfortunately, the ingredients in the bahn mi (Vietnamese pork poboy) were not as crisp as I have had elsewhere and the meat was a bit more fatty as well. Also, be sure to ask about the fruit slushes are made with fruit or syrups. A select few are made with real fruit. All in all, it's good in a fix, but not as good as Jolly Cup in Spring Branch! read more
