I boarded my dog Mia for 4 days/nights & encountered no problems. I took her prepared daily meals & all the facility had to do was take it out of the refrigerator, add a little water, stir & serve. I decided to STOP sending my dog here overnight. I noticed they don't give my dog the treats II provide, the chew toy or bone I provide, and they simply ignore everything. This happened in the past, too, and I stopped sending hin there but confronted the manager about this problem. They said "that person doesn't work here anymore who was doing this." I am NOT happy. I give specific instructions and a few basic things (bone, treats) for my pet, and nothing is ever given to him...they do the bare minimum and scoop out some kibble I provided and that is it. It's happened several times now. read more

Beware of Pricing Policy! We have used Happy Trails for the past 8 years through several changes of ownership as the location is very convenient for us. As a result, we have literally spent thousands of dollars there (each 1 week vacation is $200+). Over the last weekend, we dropped off our dog at 9:00 am on Saturday and I returned about 4:30 on Sunday to pick her up. As we were wrapping up, I was presented with a $50 bill. I pointed out that there must be a mistake, this was just one night and was directed to the pricing policy on the wall and informed "that's what we charge and we show this everywhere". The policy being that their billing clock runs noon to noon each day. No proration of the charge (the young man had no idea what that word meant - it was as if I was speaking another language) This obviously is an issue if they are not open before noon on Sunday. Also, keep in mind that they offer "Doggie Day Care" for $10 per day. It did not matter - those 3 hours were going to cost us $25 - no exceptions or consideration for how we have been long-time customers. I told the young man that I felt this was BS and it would be the last $25 we ever spent there. I also suggested that he have Troy the owner call me if he cared about losing a customer. I let my wife know as I was leaving and she called Troy a few minutes later (as she was still out of town). His answer was the same - at least they are consistent! So what other choice do we have but to stop spending our money there. We will either find another kennel (Troy said "we're the cheapest in town...") or hire some kids in the neighborhood to take care of our dog (along with the tortoise, fish, toads and bearded dragon) If you know of a responsible teenager in the area around Happy Trails - shoot me a PM, they can make some nice money! read more

My fur baby had a terrible experience the first time she was groomed at a different local spot . Came home scared and not looking much better. I took her to Happy Trails on the recommendation of a neighbor. The groomer Michelle greeted her and she immediately seemed comfortable with her. When I picked up my fur baby who was scruffy looking before I had a happy girl who looked amazing! I am so happy with the service and so is my pretty girl! Thank you ! Beware! Beware! Beware! The staff at this place care little about the conditions in which animals are kept. Perfectly housetrained animals will come back with soiled beds and covered in flees. We left our sweet babies at this horrible facility thinking that they would take great care of them and received a call shortly before pick up that one of our dogs had died. Upon arrival I got asked by the front desk "did you not receive our call? Your dog died". Autopsies revealed that she was extremely stressed out and conditions were her Renda's, she was covered in flees, and extremely dirty. Our other two dogs had been sleeping on concrete floors for eight days and had horrible hip pain for months, the sweet dog who passed had not been provided any Of the accommodations requested at drop off. We cannot go back and re-claim our loss but can prevent anyone else from experiencing the pain our family has endured from stumbling across this horrible facility. This is the worst experience I've had. I took my 4 month old German Shepard mix to board here for 5 days and he came home sick, stressed out and not eating his food. When I dropped him off he was confused only being away a couple times from us and they assured me I could call and check on him and he would be in good hands. I dropped him off at noon on Saturday and called several times Saturday evening and no answer. Left messages and no call back. Same for Sunday. I was told there is always someone there up to the night that could respond. I called a couple times Monday morning before someone finally answered and I was told my dog was doing great. Then I asked how he was doing with the other dogs because he was still new at being introduced and was shy at first. She told me "he wasn't allowed to play because he was not fixed yet." I told her I talked with them about this prior to boarding and they said because he was a puppy it wouldn't be a problem. Then she said "hold on let me see which Tank your talking about we have 3 here at the moment" REALLY!? You are answering all my questions and not knowing what dog your talking about? How unprofessional! She came back on the phone and said "oh my mistake he is playing with the others dogs and is doing great" I didn't believe a word she said at that point. I couldn't pick him up quick enough and he was anxious to leave. I brought him home and he wouldn't eat his food which he gobbled down prior to boarding. He came home with an almost empty bag but I think they fed my dog someone else's food and gave his to another dog. He would eat other food just not his puppy food. Then a couple days later he experience diarrhea and it continued for a week following vets instructions I ended up having to take him in to get tested for a parasite. They had to give him a shot to reverse the diarrhea and put him on antibiotics and dewormer. $300 later just for boarding him in a place that had mostly good reviews. I have a hard time believing these reviews are valid because of my experience and the vet telling me I was 1 of 5 other people that have brought their pet there after boarding them in the past couple weeks. I wanted to share my experience so others could be aware of how their dogs could be treated. I would hate for anyone else to experience what we have. read more

This place is terrible. I've used them 3 times and only because my normal place and back-up are booked. I just picked my dog up after 9 days and he couldn't wait to get out of that place. He is visibly dirty and filthy and stinks beyond belief. I've already found several fleas which he has never had!!!! I gave them 10 days of food and half of it returned. I'm sure my dog didn't eat at first but half the food returns tells me they are neglecting my dog. My dog had a bad upbringing before I adopted him so he has trust issues, but the other 2 places I board him at have had ZERO issues and constantly report he's loving and playful, at first needed to trust them but they showered him with love and kindness and he trusts them. This place reports that my dog is constantly aggressive and trying to bite them which makes me wonder what they do at that kennel. I was told that they no longer will board my dog and after I picked him up and can see his physical and mental state, I would never bring my dog to this place again. If you love your dog, don't bring them here. Not to mention, they tell me all of this after I pay and leave a tip. Bad business practice!!!! read more

I was able to easily book a few days ahead to board my dog Gracie. The owner was very friendly on the phone and let me know ahead of time which shot records would be needed. When we arrived at the kennel on Friday, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Since we checked her in after 12 pm, we were only charged for a half day. Score! I noticed a few dog play groups going on. Their prices also can't be beat. They also offer tours of their facility as well. When I picked up my girl on Sunday, I could tell that she had a blast. The new ownership is GREAT, Troy & crew are wonderful! They are amazingly polite, friendly and professional. My dog Diesel is always excited to go to Happy Trails. He often comes home exhausted from all the play time he gets. Because he plays so much, I usually ask that they bathe him, and he smells GREAT for two weeks and is his coat is brushed. They also offer nail trimming which is super helpful since I'm not able to trim my big dogs nails. When I board him, I bring his food and I usually get back the amount I expect, which means my dog is getting the right amount of food and that he's eating well. The entire facility is clean. I was given a tour when I first started boarding my dog and I feel they have kept up their high standards. If you learn their drop-off/pick up hours and pricing policies, I feel their pricing is fair. They are appropriately strict about making sure all animals have up to date medical records. I feel confident that my dog will come home healthy. Outstanding customer service. Troy went ABOVE and BEYOND when I was in a pinch. My dog was over-due for his Bordetella vaccine. I was able to bring him to the vet next door, he remained in quarantine overnight and Troy walked over to get him the next morning. He didn't need to help me out, but is so kind and generous, he willingly volunteered to help out a customer. I recommend Happy Trails and will continue to bring my dog there. read more

Both of my dogs stayed at Happy Trails over the Thanksgiving break (11/27/19 to 11/30/19). About a week later they developed kennel cough. When we called to inquire if other animals reported a similar issue after staying at Happy Trails they admitted to having an animal in their care that had kennel cough about a week prior to our dogs stay. So now we are out the $170 dollars for the boarding and another $150 in vet bills. Lesson learned. read more

We left our two dogs here for a weekend. When I came to check out the place, the owner invited me to see where our dogs would be boarded. Everything was clean and it didn't have that "kennel" smell. When we left the dogs for the weekend, check in was easy and the two young men working the front desk were polite and made sure I was comfortable leaving my dogs. When we picked the dogs up, they looked great, were very clean and didn't have that smell they've gotten when boarded other places. DO NOT BOARD HERE!!! They LOST our dog. We have a relaxed, senior, 100+ lb black lab. We were 5 hours away when they called and left a message that they had lost our dog. What kind of dog boarder looses dogs? They told us he jumped the fence . . . impossible, there is no way he could physically do this. They also lied about their efforts to find him. Luckily our friends found him. We also have learned of 3 other dogs they have lost and they were shot and killed by a neighbor goat farmer. Please do not take your dog here, they can't keep them safe. read more
