Disappointed that the udon fried noodle Combo had NO Chinese vegetables. Would have been nice to have bamboo shoots and mini corn for the price. But instead they put to many onions ( cheap). No lemon slices for the water. The egg roll was good-crispy. Was checking this place out for places to take out of town family coming in july. Will not be bringing them here. Its may 1, a beautiful 71 degrees out and they had the heat set on 78 and 79. I was sweating while i was eating the hot food. Most of the fried foods taste like seafood. I don't enjoy seafood.However the noodles were very good.

In Lincoln for work. I read the reviews and gave the gold 'ol',maybe they are wrong, " and ordered. The food was delivered through door dash and was very warm when it arrived. There were no utensils in the bag. I ate the food with a coffee stirrer that was provided by the in-room coffee sugar & creamer packets. I had:crab Rangoon, egg roll, chicken wings, and beef & broccoli. The crab rangoon was odd. It was like a yogurt texture with small pieces of crab knock-off. It was just odd. The egg roll must marinate in old oil. The chicken wings tasted "off" if I was a praying person, I'd pray I don't poop the bed tonight! The beef & broccoli was meh. Nothing bad, nothing good. This isn't your typical Chinese place. It had a small buffet for lunch. The food taste very authentic and reminds me of Chinese restaurant food before buffets took over. The fried rice and egg rolls remind me of what my mother use to make back in the 1970s. It has been three years since I last ate here, so I though I would give it one more try....Wow! That was a mistake. As before the facilities are clean and well kept. Waitstaff service is adequate. The white rice was very good. My egg roll was edible, not tasty, but edible, the wife's egg drop soup was pretty good. The Mongolian triple was awful. Had the menu not named it as such I would never have been able to figure it out. It might have tasted bad but it was piping hot. I managed three bites and was done. The wife's sweet and sour chicken (sauce on the side) was greasy, like the frying oil was not thoroughly heated and soaked into the coating as it cooked and the sauce had, in her opinion, a odd taste. Our favorite place! The staff is really friendly and accomidating! We love going for their lunch buffet. We absolutely adore the people who run it. Only issue we have had is their floors are often times slippery during their buffet hours. read more

Excellent Selection on Buffet & Orange Chicken Very Good The lunch buffet offers a good selection of options to choose and have a spicy chicken option. My favorite is a chicken dish that is sweet and has green peppers; I don't remember what the dish is called though. Recently in the evening I ordered Orange Chicken and it was cooked with perfection. I have always had good service and good food from Happy Wok, both in the previous location as Hibachi, and now in their current restaurant. The owners are always friendly and eager to help. I have never had a bad meal there. Some foods I like more than others but that's the case at every restaurant. Overall I really enjoy Happy Wok and I love that they deliver. We love Chinese food. We used to love First Wok. We have tried so many times to find something on the menu of Happy Wok that was palatable. Well, tonight was the last time we will eat here. I ordered online and in the space given for comments, I asked for no onions in my husband's beef fried rice and beef lo mein. He HATES onions. The lo mein was FULL of onions. Other simple requests were ignored. Why offer a place for comments if you aren't going to honor them? I ordered mongolian beef. I have NEVER had this dish with literally handfuls of onions. It has always been made with green onions anywhere else I have had it. There were so many, I just couldn't eat them all, they outnumbered the pieces of meat. And speaking of the meat, we have NEVER had meat as gross as it is here. It appears to be boiled or steamed. We have tried different dishes each time trying to find something that we could tolerate...sadly this is the last time we spend our money on food that is so unappetizing. I have eaten many dozens of times at Happy Wok or its former location. The Chinese Food they serve is as good as was made in any of the places I grew to like Chinese over the last 40 years... Additionally, recently I went in to buy a carry out box from their buffet, which is good but only lacks Fried Shrimp or it would be great.... in doing so, I paid, collected my take out box; but neglected to collect my debit card. I realized it twenty hours later; When they opened that next morning they had my card waiting in the cash drawer for me, I do not know them outside their business place. Ordered carry out. The person taking my order was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Picking up my order I could see the interior was clean and bright. Our food was excellent. Combination fried rice was generous with the meats. Chicken with vegetables was loaded with tender chicken and and a variety of fresh vegetables. There's not much to be happy about in this restaurant. The Happy Wok is located in the building that formerly housed The First Wok. That is where the similarity ends. Bruce, the former owner turned out wonderful meals at reasonable prices. The Happy Wok has low prices, but if last night's meal was any representation of a typical meal well let's just say I will never darken their door again. First off, the new owners spent a fair amount of money on giving the place a facelift. The restrooms are way nicer and they walled off a portion of the dining area for video gambling. While not a big fan of that, I understand the need to turn a profit. So four of us arrived at 5:30 PM on a Tuesday night and we were immediately seated (there were no other diners). The menu listed a lot of familiar offerings and I went with a First Wok favorite of mine, the Mongolian Triple. The wife had her usual Sweet and Sour Chicken (family style). The meals arrived quickly enough. She liked the egg drop soup and, as usual, passed off the accompanying crab Rangoon and egg roll over to me. Both were very tasty. Then came the entree. OOF! What a letdown! The Mongolian Triple barely resembled what I expected. There was a bed of crispy rice noodles on the bottom, with stir fried chicken, beef, pork mixed in with green and white onions covering that. Over all that was poured a horribly sweet and ill seasoned brown sauce. The pork was so overcooked it had turned dark and hard. It was so dry the thin slices broke apart as I tried to pierce it with the fork. And the taste, my God it was so bad I had to stop on the way home to get some candy to mute the aftertaste. Thank goodness the fried rice while not outstanding, was at least edible. The wife's meal was, according to her, satisfactory. $24.50 for two meals, soft drinks, and a lesson learned (never eat there again!). read more

Very good!! Heard mixed reviews about this place when it first opened,so I was reluctant to try it. Egg rolls and crab meat rangoon spot on! Their lo mein reminds me of an old favorite (chopsticks). I'm going to go ahead and leave Happy Wok with 5 stars...I think its more of a 4 star quality for quick Chinese food, or lunch. However, the 1 star is totally uncalled for in my opinion. I frequent Happy Wok just like i frequented first wok when it was in business. Needless to say i've probably at it close to 10 times at this point and I don't think I have ever been disappointed. The food is way fresher than the old buffet was in town, and the portions are HUGE!! I would say the prices are pretty average as it costs my family of 4 under 30 dollars to eat here, that includes egg rolls, soup, and soda. The service is always fast usually carry out in less than 20 minutes. The staff is also very friendly when you go there. I think its a husband and wife who run it, they are always very friendly, and the building is always spotless and clean! needless to say if you've been hesitant to try Happy Wok give it a shot, I did and I like it alot! read more
