I managed with his help and also with two other good Samaritans to push it into your parking lot and that's when Alexander and Hunter were able to help us get into one of the parking spots until AAA arrived. The manager Char was such an amazing help. My father in law and I drove around to 3 different locations and the employees there didn't seem invested in helping us at all. We were told the system said they had them but that it must be wrong (despite never checking the back) because they didn't have them. We finally called the Federal Way location and Char answered, she was very kind over the phone and checked both SKU's then told me she wanted to confirm they were there in the back. She got back on the phone a minute later and said she had both in stock and would hold them till we got there. When we got there they were very busy but she immediately greeted us and said she would be right with us (she must've seen the SKU slips in my hand from the other store) because she goes "Oh you must be Tanner! Give me one second and I can help you guys"! I have worked and managed retail stores for years and she exemplified the exact customer service I would hope all my employees would display. GOT TOOLS? YES THEY DO! Harbor Freight is a the best semi national hardware store that you may never have even heard of. It's focus is low cost mid tier products aimes at DIYers and contractors. I've heard mixed reviews about them, but what I have bought (10" wet saw, gas augur, angle grinder, a few other items) all have two things in common - inexpensive and effective. Sure, it may not have the prestige if oayong a lot of money for name brands, but if you are conscientious about costs and need basically any non-commercial grade tools, you need to check this place out. It's our first stop when looking for tools and honestly because of the value play it represents for most things, it's almost always our last stop. Just be ready to recognize it's not Ace or Lowes or Home Depot. Tools? Check, lots of tools. How about nails? Screws? Paint? Are they tools? No, so don't plan on them being at HFT. Go to this store often. Always helpful and polite. If they do not have what I am looking for they find a store that does and send me there. Have had warranty issues in the past and they have taken care of it right away. Granted they have theft problems there, no worse than any other store now a days. I think Harbor Freight Tools is hit or miss in General when you talk about the quality of the products they offer; some are "disposable" when they really shouldn't be. I always appreciate the low prices but customer service isn't the greatest. It's tough finding an employee to help you find anything and the cashiers are usually slow and have no idea what products they carry. The layout of the store doesn't make much sense so you'll see people roaming around looking for what they need. This a nice store for the do-it-yourselfer. The staff is friendly and helpful, and chances are if you need it they have it. Keep in mind, most of the merchandise is Chinese-made (well-known brands like Pittsburgh) so don't purchase if you're a professional. This is especially true for lifting tools (jacks, stands, etc.), anything you'd have to get under the car with and possibly risk life and limb...but their tools are good enough, like I said, for the home mechanic. Harbor Freight Tools is a discount tool store in Federal Way. You can find anything from saws to mole chasers to French fry slicer machines. The inside of the store is clean, the outside had a lot to be desired, from paint to the parking lot. If you want some history, this was originally The Good Guys electronics store. Then it was the GenX Clothing Store. After GenX closed, it was a Halloween City seasonal store, before shortly after becoming HFT. Harbor Freight is mostly filled with cheap Chinese tools- "You get what you pay for" has never been more true. This store might be fine for smaller tools, but I'd avoid buying any machinery here. Batteries Plus Bulbs is located across from the main entrance in the Federal Way Plaza strip mall. BPB sells car batteries, light bulbs, and can repair your phone, stuff that HFT can't do. Word to the wise: temper your expectations, and you'll be just fine here. The store is clean, usually neat, and pretty well organized. It has that familiar Harbor Freight smell, the aroma of...tires? Rubber hoses? I don't know exactly, but whatever it is, it's in every Harbor Freight store I've ever visited. The staff is generally friendly. Most of them are helpful, but some of them are obviously just passing their time here. Not a big deal, since I don't need hand holding in a tool store. It can get a little crowded on weekends, with longer lines at checkout. Yes, they have a whole bunch of tools and things, at low prices...sometimes ridiculously low. But the old adage of "you get what you pay for" has never been more true. If you're prepared for a short(er) service life with some of the things you buy, then you'll be fine. I have a set of Craftsman mechanic tools that my mom gave me in 1983...and they all still work. I'm not expecting that sort of experience with the hand tools they stock here, but the prices are right if you need something cheap and quick. Buying a dead blow hammer to throw into your toolbox, just in case? This is the place. They also stock gloves, and other protective equipment (hearing protection, safety glasses). I usually buy nitrile gloves here, since the price is right and they're handy to have around the yard and garage. If I'm looking at a serious tool purchase, I usually don't shop here. But for simple stuff (like jackstands, wire brushes, or heat shrink tubing) or occasional use stuff (like a heat gun for $25) HF is ok by me. read more

I am a tool nut, a semi-retired professional auto mechanic. During my career, I have purchased a huge amount of tool, and always purchased professional quality. However, I have purchased from harbor freight for years for stuff around the house. you cannot beat the value, but there is always some compromise to quality. That being said, I love the new store in Federal way, but they sufferer the same problems as all other HFS i have shopped at. Yesterday, there were 8 people in line when I got in line, and 4 more arrived shortly, just to check out. and only 1 person running a register. there were other employees around but would not open up a register. It should never take a customer more time to check out then it took to fill his shopping cart. I continue to shop there, but the lack of staff is extremely frustrating. read more

Today was the day I went to the store and I was looking for an electronic sander. & I end up finding a really good one for only $25.99. I purchased the 5 inch electric sander with a 220 grit sandpaper. But when one of the store associates approached me and asked me what type of table I was going to sand down I found out that I had the wrong grit. he explained to me what I needed to get the job done it was fast it was courteous and he didn't sit there and act like he was having a hard time understanding what I was telling him. so I suggest if anybody if you're looking for any type of tool for a great price I will try this before Iows and before Ace Hardware hey if you want more bang for your buck go there then. great place to buy tools, I got a liquid pump to transfer dirty water and burnt it out. I took it back and they exchanged it on the spot, no questions asked. I purchased the extended warranty that states replacement requires to pay for another warranty but they said it was less then 30 days so it is free and the new one is covered! since then I go every other pay day and load up. best prices on every thing I want. read more
