I totally realize electric tools at Harbor Freight aren't meant to last anymore than 90 days, and the ONLY reason I purchase 4" grinders when they're on "SALE" is for that exact reason, THEY DON'T LAST! They're strictly back ups. Less than two months ago, I had to get one of my Harbor Freight 4" grinders out. Within a couple weeks the on off switch started sticking. It took a lot of force to turn the unit on, which is very unsafe trying to force it. I finally had enough of the bad switch, so I drove all the way out to Hanover Park to exchange it for one that worked. LOL as the guy in front of me in line had the exact same issue with a cheaper model. He tried the replacement right there at the counter, and that one didn't work as well. He got a refund and walked. Now it's my turn in line. I explained to the guy behind the counter what was happening with the grinder. It was used only two months. I had the box and accessories, and it looked like it had never been used. The guy asked when it was purchased. I told him a while ago, but it was a back up, and I recently started using it. He looked up my phone number which showed I purchased a couple of grinders more than 90 days ago. HOW ABOUT THAT, THEY NO LONGER SELL THAT MODEL, SO I OFFERED TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE AND PURCHASE A BETTER UNIT. HE TOLD ME HE WOULDN'T WARRANTY IT BECAUSE IT WAS PAST THEIR 90 WARRANTY. Store review: Inexpensive low end tools this is your one stop shop. As the prior reviewer indicated don't expect name brand tools. If you think you want to use something once or twice and pay less than this is the perfect store for you. The store itself is easier to sort out and find your items. I have only really been here to get the free stuff they give out with coupons in the sunday paper. So effortless, they don't even charge tax on the free stuff. THE WORST EMPLOYEES AND MANAGEMENT WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. I ordered my brother in law an expensive tool box and never received an email that it was finally delivered to this store. I called the store because I had not received any updates on my order and who ever answered the phone said it has been at the store for a whole month but I was never notified by anyone. I then asked if I could pick it up today and was told yes and to just let the cashier know I was there for a pick up. The women at the register asked what I needed and I told her that I was there to do a pick up, she then proceeded to swear at me and said that "she didn't have time for this shit" and gave me a phone number to call to let them know I was there to pick up my order. I then called the phone number provided and the individual on the phone advised me to talk to the cashier once again. So I went up to the cashier and told her once again that I was told to pick it up with the cashier and she yelled and started to walk away speaking Spanish thinking I didn't understand what she was saying but I actually did understand every disrespectful word she was saying when she was walking to the back to get my toolbox I ordered. The manager witnessed the disrespect that the cashier was doing to me and all he did was hand me my toolbox and said sorry it took so long. He didn't apologize for the disrespect his employee was showing. I've shopped here for many years and this is by far the worse experience I've ever encountered. I must say that I love HF. I first discovered HF a long time ago through a fellow mechanic and have been a fan ever since, even though I don't turn wrenches anymore. I was thrilled to discover that a new location opened up here so I had to come check it out. For those of you not familiar with HF you must understand that the tools that are sold here are cheap. Cheap in quality and very cheap in price. "You get what you pay for" applies here so keep that in mind before you come here and gripe about some the questionable quality of their tools. As an apprentice mechanic I didn't have the funds to buy ultra-expensive Snap On, Matco, or Mac tools. If it weren't for HF I'd still be paying off those expensive tools, like many other professional mechanics. HF served was the perfect introductory level tool source that would get the job done until I could afford better tools. Sure they weren't as powerful or strong but HF tools got the job done while allowing me to eat. Some of the prices are ridiculously cheap. It makes you wonder how many Chinese sweatshop workers had to die to allow these prices to exist but if you can somehow ignore the negative effects of globalization, HF has almost any tool you could possibly need. I'd place the quality level at adequate for the occasional user. Although many professionals use HF tools on a daily basis, I'm sure they don't expect it to perform at the same level of other higher quality tools. But this is perfect for the average homeowner that is DIYer looking to take on home projects by themselves. Homeowners won't have to pay double or triple the price for a tool they may never use again after their project is complete. HF is always having a sale on many items that are already cheap to begin with so sign up for a mailer which contains coupons for free items with purchase and/or percentage discounts on one item. If you shop right you'll walk away feeling like you robbed the place. This location, being brand spanking new, was spacious, well lit, well orgainzed, and well staffed. Someone actually asked me if I need any help. Twice. That has never happened to me at other HF locations so I'm guessing they're trying to stay on top of their game in order to establish the business directly across the street from tool and hardware monster, Menards. I'm pretty sure Menards isn't too happy about that but oh well. As a guy who grunts like Tim Allen when he sees tools, I can spend a whole day in here looking at tools while grunting. Bring your wife/girlfriend here and show her what it's like to shop with her at Forever 21 or the like. read more

Lots of tools made in China, and it looks it. Maybe for a one time use item, but no quality here. The "free" coupons you can get via email, website, mailers, or magazines...they don't carry or "run out" of those items. And, no, you cannot get a rain check or credit towards an upgraded item that you are willing to pay for. Gimmick?? You decided. Again, maybe for a one time use, otherwise even Walmart down the street or Menards across the street has better quality tools that are really not much more in price, but are better in quality. This is a good place to shop. Unless you need a last minute item and show up a half hour before close. I've never felt more unwelcome in a store before! Five times employees walked up to me about 15 minutes before they actually closed to tell me that the doors were already locked and that I needed to take my stuff to the registers now! I work retail too but I would never treat a customer like this. It was disrespectful. I would rather spend more money on the items I need than to be treated like a nuisance by employees in a rush to leave. read more

David the Supervisor helped me immensely. I came into Harbor Freight not even realizing they carried what I was looking for. I was greeted at the door by David and was asked if he could help me find what I was looking for. He took me right to the moisture meter which was conveniently located next to the laser tape measure that I also needed for my job as a property claims adjuster. I highly recommend shopping at this location specifically because of the high level of customer service I was given by the staff. read more

I called Harbor Freight about a warranty problem and the woman I spoke to was extremely rude and simply hung up on me. Then I called back and asked for the Manager who also was extremely rude. They both need to find another job, and not one with the public. read more
